Chapter 10: Who is she?

"Eliz?" I called while coming downstairs.

"You called, Your Highness?" She replied while holding a hamper, full of dresses.

"Oh, you're going to do the laundry?"

"Yes, Princess."

"Oh, okay. Anyways, did you see King Levin leave the palace?" I asked.

"Yes, Your Highness. He was escorted by Luca on the way out to the exit."

"Good. Is Father still awake?"

"I don't know, Princess. But I just passed by with Her Majesty just now."

"Okay! Thank you, Eliz." I completely went down the stairs and searched for Mother as I saw her walking through her chamber.

"Mother! Wait up!" as I ran towards her.

"Oh? My Princess, why are you still awake?"

"I was about to when the viscount's daughter came by to annoy me."

"Who's viscount? And to annoy you?"

"Mother, I'll tell you once I already speak to Father."

"Your Father is on the headquarters."

"Okay! Goodnight!" as I gave her a quick peck.

I ran through the headquarters of Hunllef and saw Father was outside the HQ, talking with one of the knights as I approached him.

"U-Uhm, Pardon my interruption. Can I talk to Father for a second?" they both look at me.

"Oh, it's you, Princess. You may now." He places his fist on his chest then leaves.

"It's almost 10, Oceana. Why are you still awake?" Father asked.

"Uhm, Father... Are there any few knights patrolling here at this hour?" I asked as he gave me a confused look.

"Of course. It's always has been even in the daylight. Why'd you ask?"

"Well, a viscounts's daughter came by here from the other nation."

"What? Who is she?"

"Lady Lucinda." I punctually said.

Father's forehead suddenly wrinkled when I mentioned her name.

"F-father?" I called when he gazes away.

"The Charles huh."

"The Charles?" I confusedly asked.

"Lucinda Charles from Almondia." he said.

"The daughter of Besen Charles, a Viscount from Almondia and the head of the Charles Family."

"You know them, Father?" he nods.

"Tell me. What did she do to you."

"Well, she said she found out King Levin and I were going to marry, and then she wants to slap me, but King Levin blocked it with his hand." I look at Father, who is clearly annoyed.

"That so no good girl tried to lay a finger on you?!" Father exclaimed.

I was startled by Father's sudden shout and was puzzled at the same time, thinking that he and the Charles were not on good terms.

"Father? Is something wrong?" I calmly asked as he sighs.

"If you are thinking that Besen and I were not on good terms, you are wrong."

"Then what's with the sudden anger?"

"Let's come inside first. It's starting to rain." we came inside the headquarters and enters his office then sits down on a sofa.

"Rainier, get us a tea." Father commanded.

"Yes, My King." then he leaves.

"So, I've known the Charles since I became the General. I was designated in the Almondia Kingdom for some mission as the first day of becoming the general." Rainier puts down the tea and Father had a sip.

"Long story short, their daughter, Lady Lucinda is a spoiled brat. And I know that she is King Levin's ex-lover."

The story was getting intense since Father mentioned King Levin.

"I didn't witness the ex lovebirds before but the Almondia Kingdom spread some hearsays about how Lady Lucinda being obsessed with King Levin."

I knew it.

She wouldn't do such a thing as acting superior when she doesn't get anything she wants especially to the love of her life, King Levin.

"I don't know what happened to that kid. Besen said she just grew up like that. But I think someone tolerates her outside the family."

I don't know anyone who can persuade the lady to change her current behavior, but Charles must keep an eye on her unusual behavior. Even I had some doubts that someone would put up with her.

"And you mentioned that she managed to enter here? At this night?"

"Yes, Father. She just left before King Levin."

"Someone authorized her to come inside here? And Isn't it Almondia was too far away from here?"

"Uh, King Zoltan. I was on duty outside the gate with a rookie before Mavis."

"So, it's you?" Father stands up.

"K-King Zoltan! I wasn't aware! She was crying to me, begging me to come inside here! She said she wants some help from Your Highness!"

"Help?" I was once again confused.

"What do you mean crying and begging for help? She was about to hurt me on the balcony. Good thing King Levin appeared." I said as Rainier's eyes went wide then, he suddenly went down on his knees then bows down on the floor.

"I'm sorry, Your Highness! King Zoltan! Please forgive me!" Father and I sighed.

Rationally, Lady Lucinda is indeed a rascal. I don't want to stress about her since I can let her down in just a draw of the sword. If she thinks she can brawl with me, she will just get ashamed of herself.

"Stand up, Rainier. It's not your fault. Just be careful next time." Father spoke.

"Yes, King Zoltan!"

"And do prepare some papers." he rushes to Father's desk and grab some documents.

"Papers?" I asked but he only smiles as Rainier hands over the papers.

"I'll tell your mother what happened and just a simple scribble from a quill on her hand into these papers, she will get banned here."

"You don't have to do that, Father."

"Why shouldn't I? You are the Princess of Starnstadt which that Lady from another nation invaded this night just for a slap. What does she think of you? A lowly person? I will send a report to the Laws and also to the monarchy leader of Almondia."

"F-father, you don't have to. Her hands didn't even land on my face."

"And so? You will wait for her to slap you if she had a chance?"

There is a chance that it might happen again if she is lucky but I also think that she might be miserable if they throw her in jail just for that.

"But Father-"

"No buts. Oceana, you are the Princess. Even our people were experiencing some fights here they are also going to jail. Rules are rules, laws are laws. Violators will face punishment." I sigh as he continued writing something on the paper.

I cannot blame Father for being this strict and protective since he is the General and I am her daughter and also the daughter of the Queen.

I don't want to think about Lady Lucinda because it's just a waste of time but, who exactly is she?
