"Why was there even a plate in the records room at the first place.." Lucian sighed. Yet another case was to be solved. "We aren't some damn detectives, we're the police."

Mephisto nodded absentmindedly, not listening to his boss speaking. "Mephisto. Are you listening?" Lucian turned to him, eyes narrowing. "No." Mephisto answered, eyes glazing over the paperwork laying across Lucian's desk. "You were supposed to listen. Why didn't you say that you were listening and then we can be done with this matter?" Lucian glared at him. "They said that honestly is always the best policy." Mephisto replied, looking his boss straight in the eye. Lucian paused. "I suppose so." He muttered.

"I need you to call the detective from our branch. You know him, the one who has a scar on his eye?" Lucian said. Mephisto nodded. "Okay." He said, sauntering out of the room. "Wait- I wasn't even done talking yet.." Lucian trailed off. "That's Mephisto for you." Lucian's assistant grinned. "He never listens to us, perhaps that's what made him a police officer in the first place."

"Lucian wants you to come here." Mephisto yawned into the phone. "Why?" A deep voice replied. "Cause we're idiots." Mephisto said, matter-of-factly. The other end of the phone paused. "What do I get out of this?" The voice asked. "Blade, come on. Say one more thing and I'll shoot you in the leg." Mephisto growled. Blade chuckled. "Just wanted to get under your nerves. Don't mind me~" He said. Mephisto groaned. "This is why I hate you." He said, hanging up. "Who was that, Mephy-chan?" Cosmo asked, peeking over the silver-haired's shoulder. "That bastard Blade." Mephisto rolled his eyes. "Lucian wants him to come here to solve the plate in the records room." He continued. Cosmo nodded. "Alright then!" He smiled, skipping away. Mephisto looked at Cosmo's departing figure. "Sometimes I wonder how he even became a police officer.." Mephisto muttered.

"So? What's the point of calling me here?" Blade asked. Mephisto stared at him with an expressionless expression on his face. "The damn plate." He muttered. "I see." Blade replied. The detective paused for a few moments. "Well?" Blade said irritatedly. "Well what?" Mephisto deadpanned. "How am I supposed to solve the 'mystery of the incredible plate' if you don't even show me said plate?!" Blade said, clearly exasperated. "I can't show you the plate." Mephisto told him. "And why is that so?" Blade rubbed his temples, sighing. "Cause it's broken." The silver haired officer said with a straight face. Blade stared at him for a few seconds before he started screaming. "I-I can't believe you!" Blade cried once he stopped screaming. "What?" Mephisto rolled his eyes. He was used to getting this kind of treatment when you had his attitude. Being straight-up was never a problem, but it caused many officers to "be done with him". That was why only Cosmo went on missions with Mephisto. Not because they were a great pair, but because of the fact that Cosmo never minded Mephisto being his own snarky self. "I am so done with you. I would rather stab myself in the eye with a fork that has edges as sharp as a knife and throw myself off a hundred-foot cliff than work with you." Blade said. "That's oddly specific." Mephisto replied, yawning a bit.

"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!" Blade yelled. "You know what?" The scarred detective started, ignoring the "What?" coming from Mephisto. "I am going to storm into Lucian's office this very second and tell him to murder you if you keep being so difficult to work with." Blade threatened.

"You can't do that!" Cosmo cried, jumping out from behind a plant pot. "I-since when did you get here?!" Blade said, stunned. "You can't do that!" Cosmo repeated, coming to stand behind Mephisto. "If you do that, then I'll lose my most beloved partner!" He said, eyes welling up with tears. Blade looked taken aback. "Are you two…perhaps…dating?" He asked slowly. Mephisto scoffed. "Of course not. What gave you that idea?" He muttered. Blade chuckled awkwardly. "So let's forget about murdering my Mephy-chan, alright?" Cosmo beamed, wrapping his arms around Mephisto's neck. "Are you sure you two aren't dating?" Blade asked again. "Yep! Positive!" Cosmo responded, grinning cheekily. "I can't believe I'm going to work with two idiots.." Mephisto sighed. "Aw, Mephy-chan, don't say that! I'm your idiot, aren't I?" Cosmo said, smiling. Blade coughed awkwardly. "I suppose I'm interrupting you two..so I'm just gonna go and talk to Lucian about the case, bye!" The scarred detective dashed off, leaving the two officers behind.

"Interrupting what?" Mephisto said, a tad bit confused. "I'm sure it's nothing!" Cosmo said, bounding energetically into the next room. "Come on, Mephy-chan, come play with me!" He grinned happily. Mephisto sweat dropped. "Are you sure you aren't a five-year-old in disguise?" He closed his eyes and breathed in heavily. Only to be stopped by the smell of smoke in the air, causing alarm bells to ring in Mephisto's head.
