Visiting Dad

***Dahlia's POV***

After my talk with Tobias, I felt a lot better about our plans. Knowing my dad is struggling has plagued my mind. It's been a week since my dad was admitted to the infirmary. I feel so bad for him as his daughter, but as his Luna, I do feel disappointed in myself and my father. I should have seen the signs. I decided that I'm going to pay him a visit to see how he's doing. I don't know why I'm so ashamed to go see him. Mostly, ashamed of myself. Battling my inner demons, seems to be my new favorite hobby.

I make my way through the corridors of Ravenwood mansion and end up at the front door. I pause and take a deep breath before making my way towards the infirmary. I swing the doors open and without further hesitation, I make a bee line to see my dad. The infirmary isn't far, located between the mansion and water mirror. Up until my dad went to the infirmary, I never knew the exact location. Thankfully, Jackson sent me directions through mindlink when he first escorted my dad to be seen. Like the pack, the infirmary is protected with similar magic and a water mirror spell. I never knew how much effort was put into protecting this place. Now that I know a lot of the history, I can see why.

I walk to the exact location that Jackson gave me and I'm staring at nothing but beach and the mansion in the far background. I reach my hand out and it disappears causing a rippled. The water mirrors have always intrigued me. I walk through and a small hospital like structure comes into view. For being stuck on an Island, the hospital looks very to date. I open the front door of the infirmary and I see two ladies sitting at a desk. "Luna!" they say with a bow. One of the ladies picks up the phone and pages. "Dr. Lockhart, to the front desk, Dr. Lockhart, to the front desk" the lady says and hangs up. "How can we help you, Luna" The other lady asks with bow. "I'm here to see my father" Dahlia says harshly making the nurses whince. "Yes, right away, Lockhart is on his way to escort you" The lady replied.

"What's so important that you'd take me away from my patients!" Lockhart said around rounding the corner not noticing my presence. One of the ladies nodded in my direction. Lockhart looks and is shocked. "Dahlia!" Lockhart exclaimed giving me a big hug. The ladies behind the desk make a shocked noise at the doctors gesture. I glance at them and they go back to minding their own business. "How's my father?" Dahlia asked. Lockhart looked tired and little defeated. "We're making progress but it was much worst than I thought. The broken bond has made his wolf go dormat" Lockhart said. "What does that mean for my dad?" Dahlia asked. "Let me walk you to his room and then we can talk about it more. He's missed you" Lockhart said.

I nod my head in compliance. "Okay good, follow me this way" Lockhart says. Dahlia follows closely behind Lockhart, through the twists and turns of the pack hospital. Dahlia follows behind Lockhart, she notices that this wing of the hospital seems abandoned. "Why is there no one here?" Dahlia asked. "This is the wing reserved for the royal family" Lockhart said. "I was never here?" Dahlia replied. "That's true but you were also critical and you spent your time in the trauma intensive care unit" Lockhart said. "When your father got hurt, he was nearly healed, so there was no need for him to be brought here" Lockhart said again. Dahlia stayed silent through his explanation.

They finally arrived at a door and Lockhart opened it, slowly. Dahlia walked through and she couldn't help but become emotional. The scene before Dahlia's eyes is the worst case scenario, that she feared the most. Lockhart came and stood next to her. Dahlia stared at her father who was artificially alive and a shell of the man she once knew. Tubes, machines, and IVs worked overtime to keep her father half alive. She couldn't believe her eyes, she just saw him about a week ago and he was awake and talking. The constant beeping and noises sent chills down her spine.

"What can we do?" Dahlia asked fighting back a sob. "I've done everything I can medically Dahlia. Your father mentioned something about his wolf shut down, maybe that's the key?" Lockhart said. "Did you refer to the ancient books?" Dahlia said. Lockhart was shocked by this. "Now that you mention it, I was so consumed with stabilizing him, that I didn't even think of that!" Lockhart said rushing out of the room. Dahlia couldn't help chuckle at his actions but it was short lived as she put her focus back on her dad. Dahlia grabbed a chair and brought it next to her father's bedside. Dahlia grabbed his hand and gave his hand a kiss. "Dad, I don't know if you can hear me but you gotta pull through. I'll do everything I can, to help you get better" Dahlia said. Dahlia laid her head on her dad's chest. Even half alive, the sound of her father's heartbeat brought her great comfort. Dahlia fell asleep on her father's chest. It was the most peaceful sleep she's had in awhile, but all good things must come to an end.

Without realizing that Dahlia had fallen asleep on her father. Lockhart burst through her father's hospital room startling her awake. "Oh my gods, I'm so sorry for waking you Dahlia" Lockhart said. "How long was I out?" Dahlia asked. "Maybe two hours" Lockhart said. "Did you find anything?" Dahlia asked. "I think so" Lockhart opens on of their historical books and shows Dahlia the passage. Dahlia reads the passage. "When a wolf suffers a lost of a mate, the outcome is usually fatal. We have recorded only a few cases where some have survived. In our first break through case, with the help of a witch we were able to contact the subjects wolf and treat them on a spiritual level. In our most unusual case, with the help of a very special type of celestial wolf, one that could walk on the spirit realm freely, that wolf was able to contact the wolf and aid them. The moon goddess, was the most powerful wolf, with no wolf yet surpassing her power. I'm afraid, that these types of powers will be very rare and we will loose some very special loved ones and wolf's. The powers seem to be passed down by the moon goddess herself" Dahlia said.
