Chapter 7

She clutched the phone tightly, her fingers trembling as she heard his voice.

"Grandpa," she said softly, her voice barely audible as the noise of the patients overshadowed her voice. Her gaze is fixed on the elevators as they open and close.

Who could have thought her grandfather would contact her? Something she has been yearning for all these years.

"I saw the news about you before your husband deleted it."

"There was news?" she questioned.

"Yes,"

The smell of the hospital couldn't mask the sorrow shown on her face.

And then a sudden realization struck her like a thunderclap. Nadia's case - the mention of her name before she committed suicide. For years, Yvonne's name has always been entwined with Javier's, never alone, but for the first time, her name is the talk of the town.

She doesn't know if she should be happy or not since her dream of being famous is a reality.

"Ah, I get it now."

But was that the reason why her grandfather called her? Didn't he call her to hear from her?

"Are you alright?"

The facade she has been holding onto crumbled. The weight of her emotions became too much to bear, and with those simple words, she broke down. She burst into tears, and she didn't care if people were staring at her.

"I am not alright. I am dying here," she uttered between sobs.

Her grandfather kept quiet as he listened to her cry.

"There are so many things I want to tell you." She continued, "So many."

"You can calmly tell me when we meet tonight. I will listen to all of them."

"This night?" she sniffed, and she used the back of her hand to wipe the tears.

"Yeah, I want to meet my angel and listen to all her complaints, and whoever gives you grievances, I will handle them for you."

She couldn't help but laugh a little. That is really her grandfather, always the one to handle things.

"Where should we meet?" she said, as she was searching for a seat.

"Let's meet at the Orchestra building at 7 p.m." His voice cracked a little.

"Okay," Yvonne nodded.

"I will give you some advice before I end the call." He said, "Always watch your surroundings, and be very careful. Don't trust people that easily because those who trust end up getting betrayed."

Yvonne could feel the sadness through the phone and couldn't help getting scared. Why would he give such advice?

"Why are you speaking as if I won't see you again? Are you going to leave?"

"Let me just say this one thing, because if you come to see me, I will only listen to your rants, and I am sure you don't want to listen to my advice at that time," he laughs.

Yvonne sat down, and her leg was shaking as she had a bad feeling about it. Why is he giving her so much advice today? That is not in his nature.

"Always remember this; you are not the reason for your mother's death. I and Faith do not blame you, and so you should not blame yourself either."

This was the first time he had ever said that. Ever since her mother died, he has comforted her but never told her this. To the point, Yvonne began to believe she was a murderer.

"I am done talking; see you tonight."

He ended the call as Yvonne was going to say something.

Yvonne was very disturbed by the way her grandfather was talking. Reality dawned on her that Javier would soon get here, and she hasn't done anything useful.

But what can she do? She realizes that if she did not leave right now to see her grandfather, she might never see him without Javier knowing about it, and there is no excuse to give him.

She looked at the time on her Apple Watch and found out that it was 3 p.m. So, there are four hours before seven?

She took her bag with her and left the hospital. Luckily, she saw a taxi that went there. The Orchestra building is always isolated. No one goes there, but since her grandfather wants her there, she must go there.

A few minutes after Yvonne has left, Javier and Dennis arrive at the hospital. Javier looked for Yvonne but saw no trace of her. He called her number, but it went straight to voicemail.

"Where did she go now?" he said, as frustration was evident in his voice.

"I will send the guys to look for her,"

Javier used his hand to signal for him to leave, as a way of agreeing with what he said.

Dennis left.

A second later, he received a phone call from a number. He hesitated to pick it up since he doesn't pick up unknown calls from people.

But his mind wandered; maybe it was Yvonne who used a different number to call him?

He picked up the call.

"Long time no see, Javier,"

"Mr. Logan, this is the first time you have called in years." Javier smiled.

Mr. Logan, who is Yvonne's grandfather, spoke softly this time around.

"Come to the Orchestra building tonight at 7 p.m. to kill me. Don't use my granddaughter as a pawn."

Yvonne's grandfather ended the call, and Javier's facial expression changed.

He texted Dennis to continue the search for Yvonne while he handled something. Dennis was not having it, and he kept texting him what he wanted to do.

Javier never handled things himself without Dennis knowing about it, so it came as a shock to Dennis, but Javier stopped texting him and went to his car to start his drive.

Meanwhile, Yvonne arrived at the place, and the taxi driver dropped her off outside the building. Yvonne rubbed her hands as she was waiting for 7 p.m.

Four hours later, Yvonne was sitting at a block that was there, and she was shaking. Not only that, she was also sneezing.

'Don't be scared; he will be here soon,' she thought to herself as her hands were freezing cold.

All of a sudden, she heard a thud, which scared the daylight out of her. She got up from where she was sitting fast and saw a shadow at the building running.

Yvonne came close to see what fell down, but to her surprise,

It was her grandfather.
