chapter 23

"Should we leave him like this?" I mumble referring to my boss laying in his king sized bed with black silk sheets.

He still has his pants and dress shirt on, "The housekeeper would change him but she's asleep so I guess this will just suffice." Aaron shrugs, I nod then lean over Grey and place the sheets over his body.

Apparently my boss, lives almost an hour away from where he works, I almost see why he made me drop him off at a hotel fifteen minutes away.

That's a long drive home, even for him. I wouldn't say I was shocked when I saw a huge modern mansion in the middle of nowhere, a little scared? Yes, but shocked, no.

The inside I just as big, I hardly doubt a lot of people live here but I know the housekeeper and Noelle are usually the only people here.

I yawn and rub my eyes, "Maybe you should stay the night?"

"Huh?" I mumble looking at the driver, she shakes his head.

"Mr Grey would insist that you stay the night, it's almost midnight and we have another hours' trip for you. He truly wouldn't mind, and I'll drive you home first thing tomorrow." He promises.

Considering that I can barely think, see or even stand. I nod, he smiles and leads me to the door next to the one my boss is asleep in.

"I'll see what I can find for you to wear." Aaron says as he opens the door for me and disappears.

The room is nice, a whole wall is glass alone giving the perfect view of the trees surrounding the house.

A nice cream white theme, two doors to my left, a sitting area to my right and a kind sized bed.

I'm not surprised when my eyes droop close the moment I lay down on it, I think I'd stay here forever if it meant I'd sleep in such a bed.

*~*~*~*

I wake up in a dress shirt, my clothes on a hanger placed by the sitting area. I look to my right and groan when the sunlight assaults my eyes.

"Great, you're awake. I know it's a little bit early but I thought you'd want to eat before you go." I look towards the door to see an elderly woman enter my room with a tray in her hands.

"What? Where? Who?" I ask, she places the tray on the dressing table besides me.

She heads to one of the doors and not a minute later I hear water running, "I cleaned your clothes, changed you and you'll be ready to leave by half past six." She chatters.

I pull the sheets off and get out of the bed, I'm still pretty tired but I at least got five maybe six hours of sleep.

The lady comes back into the room and comes straight for the bed, I hold her arm gently to keep her from continuing.

"Where am I? And who are you?" I ask frowning, she gives me a smile.

"Jolene, Xander's housekeeper. You slept here last night, don't you remember? You were gone like a light when I was changing you, not even one sound came from you through the whole process." She rambles and starts to make the bed.

"I don't mean to rush you, but I have to attend to Noelle soon to so if you could." She gestures to the food and continues to make the bed.

I'll admit, I'm still confused as to what in the world is happening but I nonetheless take the tray and eat by the sitting area, enjoying the view. There's no way I would say no to hash browns, pancakes and a fruit bowl.

I notice how chatting Miss Jolene is, for the next twenty minutes she makes conversations with me to rid any awkwardness. I honestly like her.

"Are you ready to spend the day with Grandma?" Jolene's chipper voice comes.

"Is grandpa going to be there?" I hear Noelle's curious voice, I hike up my bag and stand just beside the doorframe.

"No, today is just going to be you and Grandma and Aaron." Jolene answers, I peek in and see Noelle sitting on a dark pink chair and Jolene standing behind her tying her hair into ponytails.

She looks towards me and her face brightens up, "Miss Leigh!"

She jumps out of her seat and runs towards me. An involuntary smile fills my face just by seeing her joy, I go low enough for her to jump into my arms.

Her arms wrap tightly around my neck. "Hi Ellie." I reply setting her down.

"I missed you, I wanted you to come to my birthday but daddy said you were busy. I turned five last month and daddy said that soon I'll be going to school with other kids." She jumps up and down in jou, my eyes widen slightly.

"Well your daddy should've told me so I could buy you a present. But the next time I see you, I'll have something." I tap her nose making her giggle.

Ms. Jolene appears behind her and fixes her ponytail real quick, I stand up fully and smile at her. "Thank you for your hospitality."

She smiles and shakes it off, "It was the least I could do." On record time Aaron appears at the staircase.

I can feel the joy radiating off of Noelle, "Are you ready princess?" He asks, Noelle nods enthusiastically and rushes into her room and comes out with a Tangled themed bag.

"Inhaler?" Ms. Jolene asks, the little girl nods.

"EpiPen?" She nods, "Contact book?" Another nod, "Bracelet?" She raises her hand and shakes it to emphasize on the silver bracelet.

I stare at the interaction in awe and shock, "Good, have a great day baby." She bends down and leaves a kiss on her head.

Aaron nods for me to go along with them, "I'll be dropping off Noelle first then someone will take you wherever you need to be." I nod and watch as the bundle of joy disappears somewhere.

Probably outside, she's literally shining like the sun, I don't think I've ever seen a kid this happy.
