Wars are fought on many fronts. A battle is raging across New Colorado Protectorate with both human and demonic players. Todd and Nick Ruger are sentries with an arsenal of talents and training to combat threats from a variety of enemies. Todd and Nick are given a mission to find and stop weapons smugglers by going undercover on the riverboat, Annabelle. These aren't typical arms dealers, they're demons and they're not afraid of a pair of sentries. The Rugers will have to use all their skills and their most powerful weapon, the bond between them, just to stay alive. Stopping the supply of illegal weapons turns to trying, and failing, to thwart an assassination. Todd and Nick have each other, but will they be able to keep their love intact?

Chapter 43

Despite being slowed down by Todd’s injury and a change of clothes to something more mundane, they were ready in just over a half an hour. Heidi showed up fifteen minutes early.

“The boat will dock in about an hour for a supply pickup, so we won’t have to row one of the lifeboats, which is fortunate. We can re-board at one of the ports,” Heidi said.

“How long do we have?” Todd asked as he fastened on a shoulder and hip holster. Nick had moved to a chair and was sitting, strapping on more knife sheaths.

“The boat will dock for the final time day after tomorrow in the first town it docked at on the way downriver. After that it’ll return to the home port,” Heidi told them.

“Snow will be delivering his goods before the trip is over. He’ll need to be back on board to do that. We have to end him before he can get back to the boat,” Todd said.
