Chapter 9

The days continued the same for Chrollo. In the morning, he went to school, with Scott and Stiles sneakily observing him, at least they thought so. He spent his time there reading the books he took from the family library.

In the evenings, he and Derek sparred. Each time, they ended up with different injuries. But that helped them in honing their skills and abilities, building up their pain tolerance, for Derek mostly, and they were beginning to resemble less than allies with common goal and more like friends, but that was still far off. 

They shared with each other information and knowledge. Derek taught Chrollo about rumors that weren't found in books, in exchange, Chrollo described what he read in the family books.

With the Hale house being burnt down, Derek had only general knowledge, which is much better than other's, because the Hale family was a big and ancient family of werewolves.

It was nighttime and In a park, somewhere in Beacon Hills, a young man was reading a book.

That was Chrollo, in his usual place for reading. Then his phone ringed and he saw It was Derek. 

Every day around this time, Derek called Chrollo to set up an hour for the sparring.

"Hello, Derek. The usual time today?'' Chrollo asked.

-No, today I won't be able to spar, because I picked up a trail leading to the Alpha.-

''Where are you?'' Chrollo stood up and closed the book.

*BEEP*

-I just sent you a location, come here as fast as possible-

''I am coming.'' Chrollo went to the location.

A few minutes later, Chrollo saw Derek and walked up to him.

''I just saw him go in that direction, let's go.'' Derek proceeded to chase the beast, without sparing Chrollo a glance.

Chrollo silently followed him, knowing that time is of essence here.

They climbed on the houses, pursuing the monster, without letting him out of sight.

''What is the plan?'' Chrollo questioned.

''We trap it, then we kill it.'' Derek shared his brilliant idea.

Chrollo smiled ''I see, then we need a distraction. Someone to use as a bait. When the Alpha lets its guard down, then we attack, fast and precise.''

''The question is, how do we find someone like that?'' Derek added.

As if someone heard their pleas, they heard a car engine. The monster seemed to noticed it too.

It ran toward the car and jumped on it. 

''You really have good luck, that didn't happen to me.'' Remarked Derek.

The monster broke through the driver's window. The moment it did that, Derek and Chrollo perceived a woman's scream coming from the car.

''Now!'' Just as Derek was about to assault the beast, Chrollo prevented him from doing so by holding his arm. ''Wait.''

Following Chrollo's warning, a gun shot was fired and the Alpha roared.

A woman left the car by rolling on the ground. Now kneeling outside the car, she pointed the Shotgun at the car's roof. Unfortunately for her, the beast wasn't there.

''I know her. She is an Argent.'' Derek informed Chrollo.

''Makes sense.'' Chrollo heard about the Argent family from his aunt, while he was traveling to England.

At that time, after hearing the name, his first thought was about Allison. 'I am sure she isn't a hunter. She was full of openings and her eyes were too innocent. I guess her family haven't shown her the supernatural world, yet.'

''Come on!'' The woman shot with the weapon in the air. ''COME ON!''

Not detecting any movement, she opened the car's trunk. Inside it was full of ammunition.

''Leaver her be, Derek. She fullfiled her role perfectly. The Alpha is injured.'' Chrollo called out Derek, who was staring at the woman.

He nodded and they started the chase again.

Tracking the Alpha, they came across a big space between the houses, so they jumped.

Sadly, their luck ran out. 

*BANG*

Before Chrollo could react, Derek curled up in the air a little, and couldn't land on the other side of the jump.

The werewolf fell down on a garage, making him unable to stop on time and further falling down on the space between the garage and the house.

Chrollo, successfully performing the jump, thought 'There is no point in chasing the Alpha, because Derek is unable to fight. Plus, it is entirely possible for the monster to attack us right now. Not to forget the hunter, she is probably coming to finish the job. I can't kill her, because of the Alpha, he will finish us all. If she and the Alpha were to fight, It would be good, but I highly doubt it. The only option is retreat.'

Chrollo went to Derek ''Can you move?''

''Yeah, but that bullet is a problem. It's slowly poisoning me. If I don't get treated, I will die.'' Derek was looking at the bullet in his left forearm.

''How do you treat it?'' Chrollo asked.

''I need the same type of bullet, like the one she shot me with.'' Derek grunted.

Chrollo was thinking what to do. 'It would be a waste to let him die. Aside from him, that leaves Scott. However, he doesn't have what it takes to survive in the supernatural world.'

''Do you have a place to stay for the night?'' Chrollo asked.

''No.'' Derek shook his head.

''My aunt isn't in town, so you can sleep in one of the bedrooms.'' Chrollo decided to adopt Derek for the night.

In front of Chrollo's home stood he and Derek. To let Derek sleep in there, he first has to enter the house, which isn't possible thanks to the mountain ash, surrounding it.

''Hello aunty, how are you?'' Chrollo called his aunt to ask how to disable the mountain ash.

-I am good, sweetie. Currently, me and another woman from the family, are doing a job. This is the first time you're calling me, usually it's the other way. So what's up?-

''How to disable the mountain ash? I have a wounded werewolf here, and he doesn't have a place to spend the night.''

-Is it the one you spar with?-

''Yes, It's him.'' Chrollo confirmed.

-Okay, behind the TV in the living room on the first floor, next to the plug, there is a small plastic button. When you push it, the painting on the wall, opposite to the TV, will open like a door. Behind it, is the mountain ash line for you to destroy. In the basement is a box full of mountain ash, so when you are done, just fix it, by connecting two parts again.-

''Thank you auntie, bye.'' Chrollo bade farewell to Adriana.

-Bye sweetie, I love you-

*BEEP*

Chrollo spoke to Derek ''Wait a bit.''

After a minute, Chrollo told Derek to enter.

''Thank you. I owe you one.'' Derek was grateful.

Chrollo nodded. ''Do you have any Idea on how to get the bullet for your wound?''

''By asking Scott to get into the Argents' house and take one.'' Derek was going to use Scott. ''I will talk to him, the only thing you have to do is to let us use one of the rooms here to treat me. I know I'm asking for a lot, but I will repay you.'' 

''I understand. Then tomorrow, after you convince Scott, I will drive you here.'' Chrollo agreed to the plan.

''Thank you.'' Derek really meant it.
