Chapter 15:

Chapter One's Previously…

Looking up at the at the moon, she took in a dry gulp as she suddenly heard a loud howl. She started to feel her hand shake in fear, along with her entire body.

What was a carroty haired female doing in the woods, at late hours all by herself, walking to a place where clearly no human was…?

This Chapter: Remember What Happened.

That Day's Morning…

Lyya had spent the previous night crying herself to sleep, and now, she couldn't still stop herself from crying.

It felt so miserable having something you cherished and loved so dear set ablaze.

She had already even started imagining her life as Mrs Jack Loggman.

It hurt so much to have something you have looked forward to just end in futility.

She said in a crying voice, "Jack promised" She tried cleaning off her tears but it just kept rushing out. "He said he'd love me. Just me, and I promised to love him too with all my heart"

She just kept on crying loudly into her soft pillow.

She talked to her mother, who sat next to her on the bed, and tried to console her.

She rubbed her daughter's head that was buried in her pillow as she spoke to drenched in tears Lyya, " It's alright Lyya. You'll find someone else"

Lyya looked at her mother with her puffed crying face, and swelled up red eyes, "But Jack…"

She couldn't go on talking again. She burst into tears and her crying went up higher.

"I know, I know" Her mother said, " You both have something, and he's why you even came to this city in the first place,"

Lyya was now looking at her mother as she spoke, but her crying face stuck, " Having Jack in our lives was a life changer. Ever since your father's death, It has been really hard, but he took our low class citizenship away. He made not just your life better, but mine too"

She went on, " I don't care if his rich or not. If his a lier, then he doesn't deserve my Lyya"

They now hugged passionately.

"Now let's get you all fixed up" Lyya's mother said.

She took Lyya by the hand and kept her on top of a chair in front her room mirror.

Lyya dispiritedly sat down, folding her legs on the chair, with arms wrapped around her knees.

Her mother brought out a hair brush, and began brushing her fine hair.

It was supposed to be some sort therapeutic thing for her to feel good about herself and forget about her Jack, but as her mother brushed her hair, it triggered a past memory her and Jack shared together.

She remembered it was a cold but warm night. Her and Jack laid outside at night, on a field. They laid closely beside each other, moon gazing.

Lyya stayed all cuddled up in Jack's arm, resting her head on his chest.

As they stared at the moon, Jack used his fingers to play with her hair. She felt warmth and comfort just staying all close to him like that.

In a whisper like tone he spoke Jack spoke to her. And as he spoke, she could feel his breath press against her skin, and his voice made her have this nice feeling. She felt safe just hearing him speak, "What do you think about the moon?" Jack asked.

"Hmm…" She said as if thinking, " Well, it's dark and beautiful"

"Mhmm" He said as if telling her to go on.

She looked at him and laughed, "I don't know," He stared at her as she looked up at the moon to try figure something out, " Well it's very lovely"

She now looked at him who smiled like it was him whom she was referring to.

He kept on stroking her hair.

"You, what do you think?" She asked.

"I feel so close to it, and also like it's a part of me" He now said this looking at her, as if reffering to her, " It's like each time I look at it, it gives me so much strength"

His eyes now stared at hers and she too stared at his. He now went closer to her, and started giving her light kisses all over, she couldn't help giggling all the way.

"Jack" She said still laughing.

Him too laughed as he went on with what he did, "Stay still Lyya"

After doing this for some seconds, a more serious atmosphere now hovered, and both of their eyes stared at each other's. He now went for her lips and put his lips in hers.

Lyya closed her eyes as this was happening, enjoying every single feel of it.

Slowly, as they enjoyed the soft feel of both of their lips, Jack said under his breath, "I love you Lyya"

"Lyya" Her mother now called, snapping her out of her reverie.

Lyya's mind quickly came back into reality. She tried as much as she could to sheer away from those thoughts as they were now unhealthy for her mind.

She now gave a look at her reflection in the mirror and saw that her hair had been braided at the front, and the rest packed up, leaving it to fall.

She did look beautiful.

Her mother, Mrs Daise, said, "Now you go take good care of yourself, and when you're ready, we'll both go shopping"

Mrs Daise now left the room, slamming the door at her behind.

The door shut loudly.

Lyya now stood up from the chair, and walked with her light-skinned bare-feet on the interlocked floor, that was finely painted.

She went to the window side to open the windows.

What she wore was a floral designed night dress.

She placed her hands on the window's down platform and looked at the beautiful orange sun.

In a soft worried voice tone, she asked rhetorically, " I wonder how's Jack's taking all of this?"

Her voice now devoid of worry, but inside, so much worry and sounded a bit angry too, "His probably drinking with those naughty friends of his. Maybe with other women too"

Her last sentence made her feel a bit uneasy, but it was true. Jack was doing that. Exactly that.

Lyya now did what her mother had told her. She dressed up, trying so much to not reflect how she felt inside.

Now in a long dress and a straw hat, her and her mother went inside the Telda's Mall.

Inside the place, clothes were properly hung in different sections, and so many customers also crowded Telda's.

Immediately they both walked in, all eyes were literally on them. Well, mostly on Lyya.

Trying so much to just avoid their eyes, Lyya bit onto the bottom of her lips as she walked inside, slightly nervous. She was really sure she knew why they were staring at her that way.

Passing them, she heard mumblings everywhere, but couldn't quite get all the words. The words she managed to get came from a group of haughty looking girls.

"Isn't that the lady that got dumped by a Loggman?" One whispered, but was still loud enough for Lady Lyya to hear.

"No. I heard it's the other way around" Another replied.

"It's impossible. No one in their right mind could do such. I mean who's she?"

Also hearing this, Mrs Daise said to Lyya, " Don't mind them darling, they're just jealous you got to be with a Loggman"

Lyya didn't spend too much time at the mall with her mother. She felt uncomfortable that she was the talk of the town, while Jack, the one that had caused it in the first place, went on with his life like it was no man's business.

The day slowly darkened and Lyya found herself in the same place and with the same feeling; In her room and sad.

She laid on her bed, trying so hard to force herself to sleep. It didn't work.

As she was up in her room, she suddenly heard a noise on her window. She kept quiet for some seconds, pausing her sob, and tried to figure out what had made the sound. It sounded like someone had thrown something at her window. Her heart skipped irregularly as she was startled by it.

Who could that be?

And what could the person want at this hour?

A stone was thrown again, and Lady Lyya's mind thought, "Maybe's Jack"

She went to open her windows to see who it may be, and shock gave her a tightened hug.

Her eyes widened in disbelief.

She mouthed, "O my God"

She quickly ran down to go meet the person. At that moment, she didn't worry about her sadness anymore.

Embracing the person, she said, "Harry"

It was Jack's missing younger brother.

She looked at messy skinny Harry who resembled a starved prisoner. It was so ironic since he was from one of the richest families in London.

His clothes were all ripped and hair mussed up. Harry didn't normally appear like this. He was always this neat, quiet, gentle and was always with a book, reading. He was like a better Jack. A responsible one.

"What are you doing? Where've you been? Your family's been looking everywhere for you"

He didn't sound okay. He sounded unstable, "Something's happening to me"

Harry said shivering.

With so much concern reflecting in her voice, she asked him, "What's wrong Harry?"

He looked at her with eyes that said he was too scared to, or couldn't tell her.

"Harry, you chose to come to me right? Then you've got to tell me what it is"

Looking all sacred for a reason Lyya didn't know, he spoke, "Well, since you'd be joining the family, I thought you'd be like an older sister to me, and you've always been very nice to me. You're the only one I thought I could talk to."

Lyya figured he didn't know the wedding was called off.

Harry went on, "Mother's going to be so heart broken, Father wants me to be perfect, and then Jack. Jack would probably not even take care"

In a soothing voice, Lyya spoke, "It's not true. Jack really misses you, and so does everyone. Come inside Harry"

Harry nodded his head still looking and sounding scared as he spoke, "They'll find me here"

Mrs Daise now called out from Lyya's room window as she wasn't there, "Lyya! Where are you?! Lyya!"

They both hid as Harry didn't want to be seen.

Lyya asked Harry who was now in a hurry to go, "Well, where can I find you?"

"Wayne woods" His innocent voice said now going away, "Come alone. Make sure you're not being followed"

He then ran away. Her mind now began to wonder, with worry in her, why Jack's brother would be at the Wayne woods by this time.

What was happening to him?

"Lyya!" Her mother snapped her out of her thoughts again.

"Coming mother!" She replied, still worrying about Harry.

"What are you doing out by this…?"

Later that night, she wrapped up a basket filled with clothes and food for Harry in a white clothe.

She then sneaked out of her room, after putting pillows on her bed and covering it with a blanket.

She found a Coachman who agreed to take her to where she wanted to without asking any questions. Her hood was of course covered as she spoke to him.

Now inside the moving carriage, she didn't even know when her hand started rubbing the locket Jack had given to her as a gift. She didn't know why, but it made her feel less scared. Although she still didn't feel completely safe.

She came down from the carriage, and into the woods she went. Walking with this fear in her of the possible dangers she could face in this dark woods, she didn't know when she fell over a stone.

She tried to put herself together, and she walked into the woods.

Lyya walked deeper into the woods with her lantern in her hand.

After walking for so long, calling Harry's name, she then noticed something strange behind her. It sounded like the groaning of an animal and like a bull charging. With goosebumps all over her body, the covered and uncovered, she turned to see what it really was.

Instead of meeting Harry, she met something unlikely human.

"Ahhhhh!" Were the screams heard  that night.
