The Battered and The Fractured

"Steph?" Mark's eyes widened. Was she even sure of this? Letting them take her blood? Mark couldn't wrap his head around this. Was she under the influence of some drugs, so she said such a thing?

"Huh?" Patrick L's sneer rose on his face. "So, you agree?"

"Agree to what?" Mark snapped.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Patrick L tightened his chokehold on Aluna, who looked like she was one second away from passing out in front of them. Mark felt pitiful, but he couldn't tolerate whatever Patrick was thinking about Stephanie's decision. He couldn't just lay his hand on her as he wished.

"I was asking about the vaccine, and she said okay. So, it means she agrees to be experimented on, right? Which part of her speech made you confused?" Patrick's chest puffed out, stepping closer while dragging Aluna with his body weight. Mark and Val instinctively hunched to cover Stephanie.

"Don't move any closer."
