A month passed since my time in the infirmary, we only have a month of school left and with each day I worry more. We've written Sirius a couple of times but he still hasn't hinted at Peters rat form. I've finally just decided to have Harry ask about the Marauders, and boy having someone open up a way for me to know about it was hard.
One day 2 weeks ago Harry and I were told to stay after class with Professor Mcgonagall. Harry had been doing exceedingly well in Transfiguration. She wanted to know what brought on this change in her class and knew it had to do with his increase in time spent with me. Once her curiosity was satiated, I moved the topic to Harry's father and told her that my mother had said that him and 3 others had been a bunch of pranksters. I inwardly cried as she admitted it and told us the tale of the Marauders. We sent a letter to Sirius about it and are still waiting on the response.
Meanwhile training was progressing admirably. The spells from the Black Tome where a treasure trove of knowledge. One spell named, Fulmencio, is quickly becoming a favorite of mine as it shoots lighting out of my wand with sometimes lethal results. Harry also quite liked the spell, but decidedly uses less power in it so it doesn't kill anyone. I've rebuilt my Occlumency shields better than before and made them as powerful as they could be at my level. Which means any light probe will be felt no matter how skilled the user.
Harry has learned much in the short time since we've been meeting. It makes since that he's the chosen one, he's learning battle spells in half the time I did, though his weakness is his theory work and imagination. He doesn't use spells in a flowing fashion and only likes to use powerful spells for devastating effects. That'd be perfectly fine if he didn't have a no-killing rule, which limits his use and wears him out fast. I've worked with him well and he's getting there. I've also taken to instilling in him a more Slytherin way of thinking. It was already inside him and if I had caught him in later years he would have the Gryffindor habits ingrained into him, but know I'm having him questioning everything before he acts.
Slytherin has been quite a interesting nowadays. I had another attempt on my life, but this one was admittedly less impressive. I was walking with Blaise and the girls as we had decided to walk in groups whenever we could in case anything happened. Out of nowhere a group of 6 Slytherin 4th years surrounded us. He taunted us and said he'd let the girls go since I was the only one he wanted. I knew they wouldn't leave as I had already had this discussion with them. Apparently, Daphne has a firm rule of never biting the hand that feeds you, and said she would stick with me since the alternative would be living in shame as Draco lorded it over her that she chose a losing horse. Tracey and Millicent were both of the mind that they wouldn't have it any easier as half-bloods in Slytherin unless I was leading it.
Anyways, the foolish 4th year kept taking his eyes off us and I decided a scare tactic was in order. Most of the Slytherins were in the common rooms, and putting a show without revealing my full power would deter more foolish attempts. I released my wand into my hand and pointed at the leader a quick Confundus and he was firing at his friends. He took down two before they stunned him but that was plenty as I fired a strong Fulmecio and shocked two more that were standing close. Blaise and Daphne took out the other two as Millicent and Tracey made sure they stayed unconscious.
The surrounding crowd was shaken at how easily our group took out a bigger group. After that, I still hadn't had another attempt, but I'm always ready.
I've looked into the more intensive rituals as well, they all required a sacrifice of some kind, like giving up the ability to see colors to gain Mage Sight. Something interesting I had found was one that gave up being a Metamorphmagus in exchange for a drastic increase in power.
It caught my attention because, Harry and I had discovered that we were Metamorphmagi. We were having a discussion with Tonks about her ability and Harry had realized that he also had it since when his Aunt had cut all of his hair of it kept growing back overnight. It made me want to try so I waited until I was alone and, lo and behold, I also had it. Now because we caught it so late in life it hasn't been developed. Tonks had said it would take years to have any semblance of control over it for her it was just insanely powerfull. I decided against training it as I was in desperate need of power, and all the other rituals were unethical or required something I didn't want to part with such as the ability to become an animagus.
So I went through with the ritual a couple of days ago and instantly noticed the change. My powers had risen to a whole new level. I guess for something so drastic as an inborn ability, the compensation for giving it up was enormous. I would say power wise I was just a bit stronger than Harry, and keep in mind Harry at third year made a Corporal Patronus that drove back a hundred dementors.
We also have been getting to know Tonks since she was here watching over the students. Harry instantly liked Tonks on their first meeting with Madam Bones and the continued meetings only fostered their new brother-sister dynamic. She even let it slip that since his home situation was t great, that her family would take custody over him after school ends. Harry shed big tears at that and gave her a huge hug. I also enjoyed talking with her and getting an Aurors perspective on battle magic. She had some interesting viewpoints but most aligned with what I had guessed and been doing. They chained magic combos and overwhelmed their opponents with basic easy to use magic. If they do fend you off, throw in something more complicated and take them down.
Back to the present, I had just finished classes for the day, and Harry had finally received a response from Sirius. He read it out loud and I'd finally heard what I needed to hear. Sirius had gone into great detail about the Marauder's, and of course on their other forms. I nearly jumped for joy and put my plan into motion.
I waited a week before I called Harry and Tonks into an abandoned classroom. Harry walked in with Tonks and saw Ron's fat rat in a small cage. He was about to ask why I had him, when his head suddenly jerked back and looked at his toes. He triple checked it before saying in an excited tone, "Ares? Is that Peter Pettigrew in that cage?"
Tonks looked at the cage in disbelief and I said, "I believe it is, Tonks could you call Madam Bones?"
Tonks blanked for a second before quickly calling her with a Patronus. We waited ten minutes before Madam Bones walked in, "I hate it when people summon me Heir Malfoy, your lucky that this is for a good reason. Let the rat loose and I'll change him back."
I stuck my wand in the cage and stunned Peter once more for good measure and opened his cage. When the rat hit the floor Amelia cast a bright blue light that hit it and instantly it changed into a fat balding mouse of a man with a wand sticking out of his pocket. I see the wand and make it look like I'm just randomly kicking him. I heard the tail tell sound of something breaking and a grin slipped on my face before Amelia said in an angry voice, "What do you think your doing, Heir Malfoy?"
Thinking fast I decided on the story I had originally come up with, "This bastard was spying on me earlier today, I saw him no less than three times running across the Slytherin Common Rooms. I'm guessing he was collecting information from the most likely source as Slytherins are always in the know. When I stunned him, I was about to take him and feed him to Filch's cat before I noticed the rat missing a toe. After that I called all of you here."
Amelia looked to believe my story but I could see that Harry was a bit suspicious. Damn me for teaching him to question everything. Once she starts cuffing Peter with Tonks I meet eyes with Harry and mouth, 'Later.'
He nods and we watch as Amelia and Tonks place a portkey on him and say, "Athena." I chuckle at the password being the goddess of justice.
"We've sent him to a cell in the ministry that only I have access to. Thank you for helping us with this Heir Malfoy, it would appear that Sirius will get that trial sooner than we thought." Amelia said.
'Uh-oh,' I thought. It seems Madam Bones doesn't quite believe what I told her either. If I had to guess I'd say she believes only part of what I said. I guess I'll have to be a big more careful around her in the future. She isn't the Director of the DMLE for nothing I suppose. They pack up and leave and Harry gives them a good 5 minutes before turning to me and saying, "So, do you want to tell me how you really caught my parents killer?"
