Chapter 17 Did you just kill a man?

"Sir, I think you should let go of my hand now she can no longer see us," Laura said to Jason.

"What?" Jason looked at their hands and realized he was still holding on to her. He immediately dropped her hand and put his hands into his pocket.

"Hmmm. Are you hungry? Let's have Lunch together" Jason said to her.

"No need for the pretense," Laura said before turning around away but was held by Jason.

"I want you to join me and for your information, I'm not asking you".

"Okay boss," Laura said sarcastically before following him out.

They both walked into the restaurant, a table was already reserved for them at the corner. They sat down and took the menu to take their orders. Laura was surprised at the price of a single dish.

"Don't look at the prices just ordered".

"O..key" the waitress took their orders and left.

"Why are you so nervous it's just a meal"

"Well not every day your boss takes you out for a meal," Laura said before sipping her juice. Then Jason chuckles to himself seeing her cute reaction.

"Did you just smile?"

"Yes, so what?"

"You should smile more it's sure you ".

"Well, that's new," Jason said before their food was brought in.

Laura was surprised when she saw what Jason ordered.

"Sandwich? Really? Of all dishes you ordered a sandwich?"

"Yes, but I can't say the same for you ".

"Well you're paying why can't I just enjoy myself " Laura went back to eating her food. She ordered one of the most expensive dishes on the menu.

"Why the sandwich"

"Because that's what I'm craving. My mother usually takes my brother and me out to eat when we were young".

"You have a brother? Where's he?" Laura got curious because she have not heard anything about him.

Jason's phone bugged he took it out and that it was a message from Russ.

"Boss they are here, we are in room 5 "

"Ok," Jason replied before putting the phone back into his pocket.

"So... Tell me did you always order the most expensive food when a guy took you out?" Jason changes the subject.

"Well, you're the first one after my brother... My brother, I haven't called him oh my gosh " Laura hits her head slightly wondering how she forgot about her brother.

"Well, that makes you one bad little sister I guess "

"I wonder what he must be thinking of me. Hmmm Laura how can you be this stupid " she reprimanded herself.

"You don't have to blame yourself it happens sometimes. You know what?"

"What?" Laura asked.

"I have to take care of something can you wait for me for a while?".

"Yes, of course "

"Okay I'll be right back "

Jason left her and went to the private room number Russ sent him in the restaurant.

Walking into the room, there was a man in his fifties sitting on the couch and two bodyguards standing behind him. And to the left two men were standing there. Russ and the other guy. Jason walked to them and sat down in front of them.

"What's so important is that you have to move the meeting to today," Jason said to him.

"Jason "

"Don't call me by my first name Lucas?" Jason said coldly to him even though Lucas was much older than him.

"Sorry Mr Hughes, but you have to stop playing with me and hand over the goods so we can all be on our way," Lucas said.

"What? Because you made a new buddy you think you can defile me?" Jason said leaning forward.

"What do you mean?" Lucas asked him.

"How dare you make a deal with Mr. Finn"

"So you knew already ".

While Laura is on he

r way to the restroom after spilling some juice on her clothes, She some voices from one of the rooms but didn't pay more attention to it and went straight to the restroom.

"Do you think you can fucking play with me and go free?" Jason said smiling coldly.

"What will you do? Kill me? You know you can't do that?".

"It's funny how people think they can step on the Hughes and gets away with it ". At that moment the two guards were shot dead by Jason's men.

"You see Lucas, you need to know who is in charge. I hate snitches". He pulled out Russ's gun and shot him in the head.

"Take care of this," he said before walking out but stop in his track when he saw who was standing outside the door.

"Laura?"

"Did.. did you just ki..ll a man?"

"Hey look at me Laura, calm down," Jason said taking a gentle step towards her. But Laura stepped back looking terrified.

"Don't come close"

"Listen to me, Laura!"

"I say don't!" Then she ran away.

"Should I go after her?" Russ asked Jason. If it was to be someone else, Russ might have shot the person already.

Finally getting to the parking lot Laura tried to look for a way to get out but got knocked out by someone.

When Laura woke up, she saw Jason looking at her. She immediately got up and ran to the other side of the room.

"Please don't hurt me," Laura said with tears falling down her face. Jason was heartbroken seeing her like that.

"Look you were not supposed to see that"

"So you're going to kill me to keep me silent?"

"Look I'm not going to kill you please listen to me "

"Hey, have you seen Laura?" Sarah asked Kate.

"She went to Mr Hughes's office some hours ago I wonder why she's not back yet" Kate was curious.

"I saw going out with Mr Hughes " Raymond cuts in.

"Maybe they went for a meeting, " Kate said to Sarah.

"No, Mr. Hughes's schedule is free for the next few days. So where are they?" Sarah was confused.

"I'll tell you where she is" Jane cuts in. Everybody turned their attention to her waiting to hear what she have to say. "That bitch is trying to seduce Mr Hughes" she added folding her arms across her chest.

"Hey, don't you have any other things to do except slandering Laura's name huh? And what if they are together? Will it hurt your bride because he chose Laura over you who is sexy and intelligent? Face the fact bitch you suck ".

Before Kate knew what was happening a hard slap landed on her face. she retaliated by slapping her back and then a fight broke out.

Waking up after losing consciousness twice,

Laura looked around the room but Jason was nowhere to be found. she walked out of her going straight to the living room trying to escape but there were guards everywhere.

she ran back into the passage and went inside she heard music coming out of one of the rooms she peep inside the room and was surprised by what she saw.
