After clearing the fifth floor of the labyrinth without anything, Arther realised he was not approaching this correctly and decided to stop for now.

He wanted to learn more about the history of this world and strengthen himself more before going any further, as the monsters on the sixth floor were really outmatching him vastly.

He feared that if he continued at this pace, maybe he would get himself in real trouble soon, so he stopped.

After that, he staged the trapping of his party in the labyrinth and fooled the world while he journeyed the world with his women to learn more about its history that he didn't know before, like the plot holes left by the original author.
