Magic

Ch4. Magic

I was huddling near the fireplace while contemplating life. This is the five days after reincarnation, and I somehow miss the comfort of modern life.

Although, I never enjoyed the privilege of being rich. But the whole convenience of living in the modern era is something that is worth missing. Look, compared to surviving in this nowhere you definitely would rather live by scavenging the garbage in the modern day.

At least, you'll get money and can buy food for the day with that. But what's this ..., I had to find the food myself by hunting and gathering. Well, not the hunting, as I never hunted an animal ..., only fishing for some river carp, but that can't be considered as hunting. Some maybe prefer this kind of lifestyle and want to experience what is it like living in the wilderness. But I dare you to say that again after you get here without anything at all and have to survive with the simplest tools made of stone and sticks!

And the loneliness ..., when was the last time I spoke to someone? Hmmm ..., five days ago with Ramiel, perhaps? Although that can be considered as conversation, it's actually not accurate. I didn't speak the whole time because Ramiel can directly read my mind. So in the end ..., I haven't yet spoken to someone else.

"Sigh ..., whatever, it's safer this way after all." I let out my voice for the first time.

It feels like, it's been a long time since I spoke, and it feels weird. My voice gets quieter and soft ..., oh, right, I returned to being a 16-year-old kid after all.

I checked the system and want to use my unused design attempt when my attention drifted to one particular thing that I'd been ignoring since the day I transmigrated.

The Enchanted Talisman.

Upon seeing it, my mind spun and I was thinking. I used mana all these times for crafting. But can I use it for another purpose? For instance, using it for magic and combat.

I have confirmed that magic is real from what Ramiel stated. Only obscured from the world, or so he says. But what if I can learn those ..., from these?

Enchanted Talisman was an in-game item from a mobile MOBA game, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. People might have said in my previous world that it's a rip-off of LoL, but I honestly never care. I played it, my friends were also playing it, and we have fun together, that's all there is to it.

I was a bit slow when playing the games so I used to play heroes that didn't need fast hands like assassins or fighters and marksmen. Thus, I often played the role of Mage, Support, or Tank. But I prefer playing as a mage in mid-lane and mastered this role rotation.

Some of my main heroes used this book as their build item set. Luo Yi, Lylia, Cecilion, Cyclops, and Harith for instance. Those heroes have a limited range of capabilities when they don't use this book. As they need the additional CD reduction and also the passive effect of Mana Spring.

I was wondering ... if the system is 100% real, then what about the Enchanted Talisman. All this time, I was equipping it like this was nothing but an artifact, while in fact, it was not. Lore-wise, this book was a collection of forbidden spells. So, with that being said ..., can I learn magic if I study it?

I pull out the Enchanted Talisman from my inventory.

This artifact is in form of a book bound in blue-dyed leather cover with a white skull engraved on it. There's an eerie crimson tentacle-like gasses formed around the book.

I opened the book and was greeted by a flowing text. I feel like have seen this ominous text somewhere. Oh right, it was like the floating symbols in the Black Book. The magic grimoire of Hermaeus Mora from Skyrim Dragonborn DLC. I don't recognize the language used in the text, but Omnilingualism helped me and I could read it without much problem.

I read the first row of fluctuating text but it was like a chant, and after I finished reading it a torrent of information hit my head like crazy.

"AAAAAAHHHHH!!!"

I felt this information was too much for me to take. I can't hold on to my consciousness and I fell down and my vision goes blank.

-—-

"Hehehe ..." a bandit licked his lips and chuckled lecherously seeing the prettiest girl in the area.

Jiao Du has only arrived in this small village recently, but he has set his eyes on Mei Canniang ever since he saw her plump body and delicate face. And tonight, he could get a taste of her ripe mature body.

Seeing her in tears and that light retaliation only excited him more than usual. His little brother down there couldn't help but twitch in anticipation.

At this time, a rift that tore the space appeared in the sky. This rift has been artificially made by a scientist of the 21st century, and it was actually a time machine.

From this rift, a naked man emerged and fell down from such a height as gravity pull him down. He landed on the small mud house

This naked man 'descended from Heaven' and crushed a vile local bandit, Jiao Du, to death. Mei Canniang who saw everything happen the first thing that crosses her mind was to run away in hurry.

But after some time and did not hear anything from inside, she returned with a hatchet and then hacked the bandit in the head until she was sure that his life is no more.

She then dragged the lifeless corpse outside and throw it into the river stream at the back of the house. She then proceeds on tending to the 'man who fell from heaven' who has saved her dignity.

The time is 251 BC, five years before the ascendance of the First Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, or at this time still Ying Zheng of Qin. In this chaotic time, Xiang Shaolong, a soldier from 21st-century China has been sent to the past as a result of a crazy experiment.

-—-

I woke up feeling extremely dizzy after last night's crazy experience. I sorted out my mind and feel that I get the basic idea of what the hell was happening last night.

It was a memory transfer if that makes sense. No? Then whatever, it's a magical phenomenon, there's some explanation behind it, but the simplest summary is that I receive the memory of the predecessor who has claimed the owner of this book. Not all of their memories, but their mastery over sorcery and magic.

I received the memory transfer from the last owner of this artifact, Alice, also known as the primary antagonist of Land of Dawn.

Alice, the Queen of Blood. She was supposed to be the biggest antagonist in Land of Dawn, almost every character in the game fought against her or allied themselves with her. But gameplay-wise, she rarely entered the meta. She was a blood demon, something akin to a vampire in popular culture. The queen of her race which means she was the strongest. At one point in time, she invaded the Magic Academy to steal the Enchanted Talisman.

I inherit her Blood Magic, a good way to gain eternal life.

Alice is one of the late-game heroes who need to collect a stack of her passive to make her more durable. Her passive, the Blood Ancestry let her collect a Blood Orb that was generated whenever there were death creeps or minions nearby to increase her maximum HP by 10 permanently and increase CD Reduction, HP Restoration, and Movement Speed at 12, 25, and 50 stacks. Blood Orb stacks capped at the maximum of 200, granting her a maximum of 2000 HP.

It wasn't necessarily an impactful stack compared with other heroes who need stacks like Aldous or Cecilion. With all that being she is a solid B-tier hero. Not too bad, but not that good either.

The reason why I bother explaining her passive skill was that..., this morning when I was cooking a fish for my breakfast. A Blood Orb was generated when I butchered the fish. There was no notification or anything, but when I check my stats, there was an increase in my Health so it should be true.

If the blood orb can be generated from a small creature like this fish, can it generate when I killed other animals? For instance ..., insects?

I experimented with that and seems like the prerequisite for creatures to generate a blood orb is it need to have red blood. If only bugs worked, I might already maximize my stacks by killing some termite or ant colony.

I tested one of Alice's signature spells.

[Flowing Blood — Active]: Send a sphere of Blood Energy in the target direction while dealing a 400(+120 Total Magic Power)(+5% Total Mana) Magic Damage to enemies in its path. The user can teleport to the blood sphere's location.

[Cost]: 50 Mana [Cooldown]: 15 seconds

I cast the spell for 50 Mana, that's a lot of Mana. A ball that looked like a gaseous form of purple blood slowly moved forward. I willed myself and teleported 10 meters ahead exactly on the blood sphere's location. There was some kind of blood explosion(splatter) or something when I teleported.

This feels awesome ..., while it follows a slow and predictable path, with this, I can teleport. I checked the maximum range to be approximately 25 meters before the sphere completely dissipated.

Another problem arose ..., my mana pool.

Even after leveling up to Level 7, and using the five-level up to increase my Mana, I only have 150 Mana. Not an ideal number, it's very small in fact. For instance, I can cast only three [Flowing Blood] spells before emptying my mana pool. While the book helps me recover my mana faster, I still need 10 minutes to refill my mana.

If only I have Cecilion's passive ..., wait, what was his passive again? It's called Overflowing, right? There's something like that in her memories. I searched through the remaining information I have on Alice's memories of sorcery.

Right ..., there it is!

[Overflowing — Passive]: Increases Max Mana by 5 and restores the same amount of Mana every time a skill hits an enemy target. Skill damage scales with Max Mana.

"Hu ..., ahaha ..., Wahahahaah!" Unknowingly I let out a three-degree of villainous laughter after digesting

With this, I'll be the first and strongest primogenitor of the vampire race in this world! Vlad Tepes can't come close, I'm Count Dracula now!

Jokes aside, Alice's mastery of Blood Magic is way more advanced than Cecilion's. But Cecilion has perfected the Overflowing on his own, the additional Mana of each stack on Alice is only 5, while Cecilion can gain an increase of 10 Mana for each stack.

Alice can also summon and control bats, but choose not to solely because it was not her style. She liked to keep it authentic, or so she said, that was drink it directly from the neck.

She can also turn a human or other being into a vampire, just like how Carmilla made a pact with Cecilion.

I learned nine spells with three of them being a passive abilities. The passive was [Blood Ancestry], [Overflowing], and [Sanguine Vampire].

The Sanguine Vampire let me steal 10 points of Physical and Magical Defense from the enemies whenever my spell hit them. It was non-stackable unlike the other two, but multiple enemies means I stole more of their defense. With such a passive, I'm a one-man army.

The active spells are [Flowing Blood], [Blood Awe], [Blood Ode], [Bat Impact], [Sanguine Claws], and lastly [Grand Feast].

They were just Alice and Cecilion Skills, to be honest.

Blood Awe will create a blood sphere around my body like a Revolving Heaven from Hyuga-clan in Naruto. It will explode and deals 270 (+90% Total Magic Power) (+1.6 Total Mana) Magic Damage and immobilize them for 1.2 seconds and slow their movement speed. It cost 75 Mana and has 35 seconds cooldown.

Blood Ode makes me enter a Blood-draining state, consuming 80 mana and dealing 120 (+50% Total Magic Power) (+0.6% Total Mana) Magic Damage for every second. It also recovers 60 (+20% Total Magic Power) (+0.15% Total Mana) HP each time I inflict damage. The area effect is 5 meters around me, and anyone else entering that area will get their blood drained. It's like a pseudo-domain in those cultivation novels.

Yeah, the [Blood Ode] is unusable for now. It's a toggle on/off active spell that will consume my mana until I put it off manually or let it use all of my mana. And yeah, the mana consumption is simply enormous. In my current state, I can maintain it for only a second and that's it. I probably should spam my spells and gain stacks on Overflow.

Bat Impact let me call a giant bat and order it to dive in the designated direction. dealing 125 (+80% Total Magic Power)(+5% Total Mana) Magic Damage to enemies on it's path. The bat will stay at its target and I can launch another attack, dealing 250 (+160% Total Magic Power)(+10% Total Mana) Magic Damage to enemies. The mana cost is 75 while the cooldown is 10 seconds. Every time I cast this skill, the mana consumption and damage increased by 1.8 times capped at 4 times. I also gain 30% Movement Speed.

Sanguine Claws summons a pair of claws made of blood in a designated location. After short delays, the claws will move toward each other and pull enemies along the way to the center, dealing 300 (+45% Total Magic Power)(+1.2% Total Mana) Magic Damage and immobilizing them for 1 second. The skill cost 95 Mana to cast, and the cooldown is 120 seconds.

Grand Feast is another ultimate spell just like the Blood Ode. I will summon a colony of bats and transform my body into that of a giant humanoid bat. In this form, I increased my movement speed by 60% and gained flight. The summoned bats will attack nearby enemies, dealing 40 (+8% Total Magic Power)(+0.5% Mana) Magic Damage and slowing their movement speed. For every 10 bats that latched and drain blood from the enemies, I will get an additional 1% of my HP regeneration. The mana cost is 150 and I can keep in this state for 60 seconds with the cooldown being 440 seconds or around 7 minutes until I could cast it again.

"Ramiel, I love you! Alice too ... from this day forth you're my mommy! With this, I'm OP as fuck baby! Hahaha," I laughed out loud like in the forest like a maniac.

Actually no ..., I'm not yet OP as fuck. I need to farm some stack for my Blood Ancestry and Overflow to do that. And thus, I would like to start some farming.
