The order for Grand Admiral Josef Grunger to use his fleet as a shield, preventing the enemy from reaching Emperor Palpatine's escape route, sent him into a fit of rage.
If his fleet stayed in position, he believed that he had a solid chance of pushing back the enemy. However, the Emperor's interference prevented that from happening.
Grand Admiral Nial Declann saw this as an opportunity to retreat and regroup his forces. He entrusted half of his fleet to hold off the enemy while he made his escape, causing a dip in morale among the remaining ships as they witnessed their leader leaving the battle.
Despite their doubts, they followed orders and successfully blocked the enemy's progress, allowing Grand Admiral Nial to retreat from the battle unscathed.
With the Grand Admirals and Emperor gone, the remaining Admirals attempted to continue the battle despite facing overwhelming forces. However, they were outnumbered by the combined might of the Terran fleet, Rebel Alliance Fleet, and Mandalorian fleet.
In just a matter of hours, the battle was over and the Terran troops had taken control of the Death Star. Despite the wishes of the Rebel Alliance, Alexander made the decision to spare the Death Star from destruction and instead took over the station. His troops captured all personnel, including high-ranking military and political figures.
Needless to say, the Rebel Alliance was not pleased with this turn of events. Their original mission had been to destroy the Death Star and save Alderaan from its fate. While they were able to prevent the destruction of Alderaan, their ultimate goal remained unfulfilled.
The Death Star may have changed hands, but it was still fully functional. Admiral Ackbar held the position of Supreme Commander and his opinions held a lot of weight within the Rebel Alliance's stance on the situation.
He did not hesitate in his decision to not interfere; it was clear that he would stay out of the matter. Although countless lives were sacrificed in the attempt to destroy the station, one could argue that it had been successfully demolished since Admiral Ackbar trusted the Emperor to not use it against the citizens of the Galaxy.
As an Admiral, he knew that any decision would need to be discussed with the Leaders of the Rebel Alliance. He also knew that he didn't have much authority to make any final decisions, and he didn't want to initiate anything that he might later regret.
Having gained control of the Death Star, Alexander directed his fleet towards Coruscant, a journey that would take 8 hours through Hyperspace. Unfortunately, there was no nearby Hyperspace Gate available for use, making the trip all the more time-consuming.
The Rebel Alliance Fleet, under the command of Admiral Ackbar, had fallen back to Alderaan where they would convene with the leaders of the Rebellion who were currently holding a meeting on the planet.
After his shuttle touched down, he was instructed to make his way to the central Palace where Bail Organa, Garm Bel Iblis, Rahm Kota, and Mon Mothma were gathered for a meeting.
As Admiral Ackbar strode into the room, the Top Leaders of the Rebel Alliance took their seats in the spacious chamber.
Mon Mothma was the first to break the silence. "Admiral, news of our victory has already spread far and wide. Even if the Death Star had not been destroyed, we still succeeded in preventing the destruction of Alderaan and thwarting the Imperial plans. That, in itself, is a remarkable accomplishment," Mon Mothma stated with confidence.
Kota's worried expression contrasted with the calm demeanor of the rest of the group. "What about that Emperor who now controls the Death Star? We have no idea what he intends to do with it," he exclaimed, voicing his concerns.
Admiral Ackbar clarified the situation by stating, "Emperor Alexander has remained a neutral party in our conflict with the Empire, providing minimal assistance sporadically. Without his fleet, we would have undoubtedly been defeated."
"There is nothing we can do now as their fleet is already headed for Coruscant" Announced Admiral Ackbar as the faces of the other Leaders lit up.
Bail Organa stood up from his chair with determination in his voice. "This is our opportunity," he said, "to restore the Republic and bring back democracy to the Galaxy." He saw this moment as a crucial turning point to achieve their goal of restoring the Republic once and for all.
Mon Mothma gave a slight nod in response to Bail Organa's words. "If the Terran Fleet is mobilizing, there must be a significant reason behind it," she stated. "However, our recent intelligence suggests that the Terran Ascendancy is determined to bring order to the Galaxy by any means necessary. There have even been rumors of potential invasions against the CIS." Mon Mothma elaborated.
"According to our Intelligence, it appears that the Terran Ascendancy has declared a Galaxy-wide war against the Galactic Empire and CIS, believing them to be the root of chaos. This is an opportunity for us to establish the New Republic and restore democracy to the Galaxy," explained Bail Organa.
"While I agree that our plan can finally be implemented this still doesn't explain what the Emperor Plans to do with the Death Star now that it is under his control" General Kota stood up wanting an answer from the others.
But even they didn't know what the Emperor was planning with the Death Star, But they had only been able to fight the Empire for as long as they have thanks to the Terran Ascendency so to return their support they could trust the Emperor to do the right thing with such a powerful weapon in his hands.
"We don't know what he will do but if your so eager to know General Kota then by all means go and meet with him yourself and ask him" Said Mon Mothma tired of General Kota's lack of trust in her decision.
"Fine I will do just that" Said General Kota as he stood up and left the room to go and meet with the Emperor.
Seeing leave Mon Mothma sighed "Okay the rest of us will work to draft up a new Government, In the meantime we will still go by the Rebel Alliance until Emperor Palpatine is either dead or captured" Announced Mon Mothma.
The other members nodded in agreement and thus started a long discussion over the creation of the New Republic and how the Government will work.
