----------------------------------------------------------------
The steed walked slowly, moving along the main road at a pace slightly faster than walking but slower than a carriage.
It was amazing with how slow it was going. There were two reasons for this.
Firstly, it had to match the rider's interests. If the rider wanted to enjoy the scenery, the horse had to demonstrate exceptional skills to maintain a moderate speed.
It was professional and competent, not to mention the strict training it had received, which made it proud of its qualifications!
Secondly, there was a giant dragon sitting on its back, making it hesitant to run faster. The horse simply didn't have the courage.
Though it wasn't scared to its knees, it was already giving its best effort to move forward while feeling the dragon's claws slowly scratching across its skin.
The fog gradually cleared, and the morning sun shone through the tall trees, casting ever-changing mottled light and shadows on the lush branches and leaves, finally illuminating the handsome face of a boy.
Lu Yuan lazily stretched, closed the small notebook in his hand, and put it together with the pen into his pocket. He then lay down on the horse, not caring about his image.
Gently patting the horse's neck, he pointed forward and said, "Go straight along this road until we reach Soto City. Rest when you're tired, call me when you're hungry, and let me take a quick nap, got it?"
The horse snorted softly. Though it didn't understand why the dragon on its back spoke human language, its wisdom allowed it to grasp most of the simple words.
That was enough for the steed to move forward diligently. In its eyes, this was the most glorious moment of its life – running forward with a giant dragon on its back, feeling reassured by the dragon's presence.
However, a small flame of anger ignited in the horse's eyes. How could a noble and great dragon be outperformed by lesser horses? That was unacceptable! It felt humiliated on behalf of the noble dragon!
Whispering softly and trying to control its back muscles to avoid waking the sleeping dragon, the horse galloped ahead.
Unaware of the horse's excitement, a convoy moved steadily on the road behind.
Thanks to Soto City's strategic significance as a granary hub, the roads were clean and spacious, mostly straight to avoid the inconvenience of turning midway.
Inside the carriage, the atmosphere was harmonious as if nothing had happened before. Ning Fengzhi and Xue Qinghe were chatting cordially, while Sword Douluo Chen Xin and Bone Douluo Gu Rong observed silently.
They were in charge of combat power, not skilled in governance or sect management.
Xue Qinghe secretly cursed Ning Fengzhi as an "old fox." He deliberately leaked some information and tightly held onto certain core details. This manipulative tactic frustrated Xue Qinghe, but she respected and admired Ning Fengzhi's virtuous character, generosity, and concern for the country and its people.
Regretfully, Xue Qinghe realized that her character design for the fourth prince, Xue Beng, was too perfect, making it difficult for her to compete against the other princes even after killing the second and third princes.
Xue Qinghe took a sip of tea to conceal her emotions, while Ning Fengzhi remained unperturbed, inwardly delighted to witness his clever disciple being outwitted occasionally, satisfying his mischievous side.
When the horse arrived, the team became chaotic, but the riders quickly restored order due to their excellent horse control skills.
The people in the carriage also heard the noise, prompting Xue Qinghe to frown and calmly open the curtains.
With a slight movement of his eyes, he lowered his hand in speechless acknowledgment.
She could still recognize the horses in the convoy, especially the tall silver spear on the horse's back, which already proved the identity of the newcomer.
Clank! Clank! Clank!
The steed let out a gentle neigh and deliberately stopped, standing right in the middle of the road.
It neither walked nor ran, simply lying there, blocking the way.
The white horse pulling the carriage also came to a halt due to fear, forcing the entire convoy to stop once again.
Not only the white horse, but all the other horses in the team also reacted the same way.
No matter how hard they were whipped or how loudly they were yelled at, these steeds refused to take a single step forward!
The weak yet pure dragon power frightened all the horses, causing them to tremble.
This horse snorted disdainfully, and a faint white mist escaped its mouth, giving its mane a moist appearance.
Even though it was a bit tired at the moment, the steed still held its head high, displaying arrogance towards its former companions.
Don't ask how people could see such anthropomorphic emotions in a horse's eyes.
Because its actions spoke louder than words in highlighting its arrogance.
After showing off its power for a moment, the steed turned its head away and continued walking at that leisurely pace.
There was nothing wrong with walking like that.
Each horse had its own way of running.
This couldn't be forced.
However, its slow pace was affecting the horses behind it.
There was a horse with a dragon symbol on its back in front, and no horse in its right mind would dare to overtake a dragon.
In the face of instinct, all the trained rules were thrown aside.
"Why are you whipping me? I just don't dare to go up, what can you do about it?"
The sudden kick of the horse under the saddle almost threw off all the riders.
It deliberately blocked Prince Tiandou's way, causing Prince Tiandou's carriage to follow closely behind.
These riders didn't dare to speculate about what would happen to the audacious person blocking their path, but they, as guards, might not escape charges of "dereliction of duty" or even "negligence."
Xue Qinghe squinted his eyes, apologized to Ning Fengzhi, got out of the carriage, took the reins from the guard beside him, and mounted the horse.
Once might be considered accidental, but twice was clearly intentional.
He gently infused the holy soul power in his body into the horse's body.
As if it had been injected with vitality, the white horse beneath him instantly galloped, carrying Xue Qinghe, and caught up with the horse in front at an astonishing speed.
To Xue Qinghe's surprise, the white horse didn't overtake the opponent's horse but instead closely followed, daring to match the pace of the horse ahead.
