One Can't Be Too Double Standards

Cheng Chen's eyes widened in disbelief. After a while, he put out his cigarette and threw it into the trash can beside him. Jiang Kai leaned back in his chair and lowered his head to scroll through his phone. He did not turn on the game and waited for Xu Li to finish this round.

Cheng Chen pulled a chair and sat down beside Jiang Kai. He glanced at Xu Li, who was wearing earphones, and teased Jiang Kai in a low voice, "This girl is not bad-looking. She's not noisy. No wonder you like her. If it were me…"

"Then I'll kill you." Jiang Kai seemed to know what Cheng Chen was going to say. Before he could finish, he interrupted him. Jiang Kai's voice was very soft, but Cheng Chen could hear the ruthlessness and seriousness in it. Cheng Chen swallowed the words "I'd like her too."

Coincidentally, Xu Li had finished this round. Jiang Kai put down his phone and asked, "Do you still want to continue playing?"

Jiang Kai logged out of his gaming account and replaced it with a substitute account. "Cheng Chen, you have to know your limits. You're also very noisy."

There was no one at Xu Li's house. She had dinner with Meng Qingqing outside before going back. The next day was Monday. After taking a shower, Xu Li realized that she had not done her homework. Xu Li agreed and picked up a pen to write her name on the test paper.

Not long after, Lu Peian's voice sounded again. "Is your phone number your WeChat number?"

"Yes." Xu Li paused and thought of something. "How did you get my phone number?"

Lu Peian: "When I handed in the registration form previously, I saw your registration form on the math teacher's desk. There's your contact information on it."

Xu Li thought for a moment and vaguely remembered that Long Long had asked her to participate in some kind of math competition. She did not want to sign up at first, but she could not resist Long Long's coaxing and pestering. In the end, she filled in the registration form.

Xu Li asked, "By the way, when is the competition?"

Lu Peian: "Next Saturday."

It happened to be Meng Qingqing's birthday next Saturday, so Xu Li did not want to participate! She put down her pen and asked, "Is the competition in the morning or afternoon?"

Xu Li raised her eyebrows in surprise. As she changed note for the nickname to Lu Peian, she teased, "I didn't expect Lu Peian to be such a girl."

Lu Peian laughed as well. Not long after, a few photos were sent over.

Xu Li said, "Thanks. Sorry for disturbing your sleep."

Lu Peian: "It's alright, I'll bring the magazines to you tomorrow?"

Xu Li replied, "Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Lu Peian put away the magazines hanging on the balcony and went to the study to get the other books. He stuffed them all into his bag. After that, he turned off the lights and went to sleep. Meanwhile, Xu Li was still working at night, copying homework at lightning speed. Her hand speed was so fast that it was almost comparable to her usual hand speed when she played games.

Finally, before twelve o'clock, Xu Li finished copying all her homework. She yawned, rubbed her wrist, and lay back on the bed in a daze. If she had known that her teacher had left so much homework, she would never have gone to play games today! It was too tiresome!

The next day, after Xu Li and Meng Qingqing arrived at school, they turned in their homework and fell asleep on the table.
