Daniel almost felt like he was about to faint.
It was the me girl who he proposed to in middle school, the girl who was almost courted by him but she rejected him harshly, in front of so many batch mates of theirs.
Although, that day a new friendship blossomed between Daniel and Ronald. The alpha of the duo was suddenly protective of the beta who was almost on the verge of getting bullied by the whole school.
The nobleman's daughter was no such noble when it came to school, for as which she exuded her true colors at the campus which she never dared to do inside these compound walls of her house.
Daniel was in denial.
"Y-you..." the alpha female finally uttered, strong voice and eyes almost in delusion.
"I—"
"I'm not going to reject you." She cut him off rudely, the father taken aback by her extravagant behavior.
"But—"
"No buts. There will be a day when you will surrender to me, beta." She demands authoritatively, something which makes the man hiding behind the bushes in his bubble's blood boil.
"I'm not done with you yet." She adds, this getting down to a low whisper which wasn't supposed to be heard by the human ear.
That's it. He had to get on the field.
"Hey! You!" Ronald burst out from his bubble in utter rage and walked briskly down the path to the porch of the high classé mansion.
At his sudden presence, many bowed down to him and the owners of the house began shivering without a reason. That was the power which Ronald enjoyed, right at this moment.
"I'm guessing you forgot that he is my pal?" He pulled the upset beta, his friend behind him who immediately leaned on his back before he burst into tears at his fate.
"No, R-Ronald I—"
"Enough. I heard what I need to. You are given two options, Valarie." He held out his two fingers, one popping up at the mention.
"You remind yourself that you are nowhere in place to bully ANYONE from now on. And two," another one joins the index and the people around are held onto the anticipation, anxiety rising upto their chests. Valarie was literally praying to the moon goddess that it wasn't a curse coming from the most powerful werewolf, or oh, she was to be doomed.
"Reject him."
Rejection...
That only meant one thing.
The werewolf would wither and die.
Die without their mate's love.
Valerie's breath hitched harshly when she thought about the consequences.
Sure, Daniel was in good hands and if his friend tried, he would summon the Moon Goddess and bless him with a new mate. But what about her?
She was an alpha, and on top of that a woman.
She would have to ruin her integrity if that ever happened. Valarie would be abandoned by her own beloved father because she would bring disgrace to the family.
The reason was...as an alpha, she would have to satisfy her ruts. And the only way she could be calmed was by her mate. Be it alpha like herself or a beta or heck, even an omega. She had to accept them just for to stay in her family.
And that meant she was to fall in love with the beta. Daniel was a nice guy. Funny, witty and everything good.
But not perfect.
Ronald scowled at her thoughts.
For him, Jane was perfect, but the princess had a lot of flaws in herself if another person will have a look inside her personality.
She was naive and childish, at times it may seem but she is childish most of the times.
Ronald now thought, why would Valarie expect someone crafted by her own toxic features and personality traits? Daniel was far better than what she has in mind about a mate.
And maybe, just maybe that is why Valarie was not willing to accept his beta best friend as her mate. He is too good for her.
"So you're rejecting him?"
"I- I didn't say that."
"So you're accepting him then." He concluded and Valarie nodded powerlessly. She bowed slightly to him, to show him that she was too, way below in rank that himself. Not to mention he was soon to be one of the royalties now.
Ronald rolled his eyes and tugged Daniel lightly, taking him back to the road, to the alley and transported from there to Daniel's room.
"Are you alright...?" Ronald affectionately caressed his friend's hair as soon as he sensed his sullen grimace. A warm embraced was offered to the distressed beta who immediately dwelled in for the warmth his friend had been giving.
"But she smelled so nice and warm...her personality is just too sour." Beta uttered in his mind wordlessly to his friend and Ronald was just reading his mind.
"You know, Dan you can reject her. It shouldn't be that bad. Please be selfish for once. I will find you a better and potential mate rather than that hag." Daniel chuckled but felt bad for Valarie nonetheless. They knew how exactly the Davies household would treat her if she was declared as mateless. She would be kicked out in the blink of an eye and thrown to the streets to live in her own.
The whole city would talk about her, which will rip her consciousness apart. She would go mental.
"Ron, it's fine. As long as you protect me. I'm sure she will change. Sometime...it will take sometime but she will begin to love me."
"You sound like you are in love, Dan. Its creepy."
Daniel chuckled heartily, face nuzzled into the slightly taller male's shoulder. Ronald felt like a great friend at that moment.
But in reality, he was just returning back the favor, the innumerable times his best friend stood up and loved him at his lowest. He was too grateful for all the blessings in his life now.
Quickly thanking the Moon Goddess, like any other day when he felt generous and happy, he lulled his best friend to sleep like a mother.
And soon, he was flying out of the window and smiling at the crescent of the moon, his own eyes turning into crescents by smiling too much.
He was flying...
...flying into Jane's princess chambers to see her one last time before he completely shifted his attention towards the people and his best friend.
