"This thing, bringing my parents together arrangement" Maybe dad has requested her to convince me to call mom here.
"Alex, I don't have a complete family. I don't have my mother but whatever memories I have of her are very precious. I have always seen her happy and content with my father. I felt that your mother should also be happy." She was genuinely concerned and I doubted her.
"Hey what do you remember about your childhood? Can you share with me" I tried to change the topic.
"Okay and you will tell me yours" she became happy and excited.
"Gawri, I don't remember anything about my childhood. My memories have been erased." I told her the truth.
"What, why?" shock was written all over her face like I have been abused somehow.
"Erased means they are there in my subconscious mind but I don't recall them. Something happened in my childhood which has given me nightmares therefore my parents have have get me treated this way." I revealed the secret.
"Oh. Okay I will share my childhood memories" she didn't overreact and that made me feel good.
"You know I have seen a big white bungalow which has a big garden where you can find every type of flowers. My mother and I used to run in that garden while baba used to chase us." her face lit up while she was narrating her memories.
"Do you remember her face?"
"No, I have remembered a vivid image of her. She was wearing a saree, bangles and lots of jewelleries. She had knee length hair and she used to put a rose in It." she smiled.
"You must be rich if you had a big house" she paused on my question.
"You haven't asked your father about her" I enquired further.
"He loved her a lot and whenever I asked him about her, he told me that she was like me. He said that we became poor after her demise. He becomes very sad whenever I mention her therefore I have stopped asking him"
"Hey, it's okay. Tell me about other things you remember" I tried to change her mood and I succeeded.
"I remember wide roads, vintage cars, women of every age in long sleeve blouse and long skirts. They were wearing hat and some of them have parasol in their hands which I think a bit surprising because Indian women don't dress like that" she frowned.
"Are you born in England or America because British rule was already over in India when you were born" I teased her.
"Don't make fun of me Alex otherwise I won't tell anything" she pouted.
"Okay sorry, please continue. What else do you remember?" I encouraged her.
"There was a boy of my age with whom I used to play. He used to give me chocolates, cakes, dolls and many other gifts. In one particular memory he was asking for my hand so he could put a ring on my finger but I was refusing. He pulled my hand forcefully to make me wear that but the ring was big on me. He said something and we dig a hole under a statue and hide that ring there." She was smiling and blushing at that memory. I was cursing that boy.
"He must be proposing you and you must have refused him." I taunted her.
"Maybe" she grinned.
"Anything else" I suddenly lost interest in her childhood memories.
"Not much" she replied.
"Miss Sharma. Mr. Miller is asking for you" John has interrupted our conversation.
"I am coming in 5 minutes John" she answered.
"Alex, please tell your mother about your father's health and tell her to come." She reminded me while heading back to my father's office.
