Chapter 3

Yomade stared at the scenery outside his hotel window, a forlorn gaze etched on his handsome features. The setting sun cast a golden glow on the busy street, painting the world with it bewitching magic, it was enchanting outside but he stared without seeing. His head was filled with pictures of Aduke, the skinny teenager who had moved into their neighbourhood, she never spoke to her mates neither did she play with them, she only made friends with books and talked to older people. It was like she wanted to grow fast, if childhood was never a thing to be proud of.

He remembered the Aduke he had insulted and commanded never to see again, and she really obeyed and disappeared for four years.

The way she had looked at him that day still gives him the chills and had left him restless for years, he kept seeing her in his dreams and he felt her presence often, as if she was locked somewhere in his subconscious mind. The Aduke he met yesterday left him speechless, he didn't know the perfect words to use.

She smiled more, her every act delivered perfectly, he didn't knew if that is who she truly was or who she had trained herself to be. She was beautiful, captivating, with enchanting beauty. He didn't know why he crave her so much or why he had booked a flight without hesitation just to see her face. The reason he wanted to apologise so badly just so she could smile for him.

He wanted the girl who had made him restless so much that it hurt all the time. After seeing her, even though he couldn't boast of knowing a thing about her for several years, yet his craving increased. He didn't know what next or what the future held for them. He didn't know if he could finally stand side by side with her. If she even had him in mind but for the first time in his existence, he was sure without a doubt that he wanted her. He wanted everything in Aduke ,all of her.

He sighed and stepped away from the window, and walked back to the center table, raised the glass cup, half filled with Hennessey to his lips and emptied its content. He sat on the plush couch, placed his laptop on the armrest and gave Shade a video call. she picked up on the third attempt, rubbing her swollen eyes, just waking up from sleep.

"Bro", she greeted in a groggy voice

"Sorry I disturbed your sleep" he apologized, and she managed a weak smile.

"it's okay" she replied sitting upright from the bed, she adjusted her phone so he could see her clearly. "Anything the problem? You don't call." She noted immediately, and he grinned.

"Mr Williams isn't Aduke's father, is he?" he questioned. Shade smile dropped

"It's about Aduke again, i thought that once she finally disappeared, we won't have to hear a thing about her. I still don't understand why you suddenly care so much." She voiced, her facial expression serious.

He was surprised. He had assumed that she would be happy hearing about Aduke. They couldn't be considered best of friends while growing up but they conversed often. The day he had chased her out, she had wanted to see Shade.

"Should I call you a jealous bitch or a bitter one? " he questioned, Shade face went pale. She forced a smile fooling her expression but he noticed.

"She left for four good years, why on earth should I be jealous or bitter. I have moved on just like everybody else"

"Nobody said you didn't move on, yes you did move on but maybe you held on to somethings you aren't aware of. You should be excited hearing about her."

"She disappeared, she treated everybody the same. Aduke left without looking back, she didn't bother to keep in touch. I thought we shared something and she treated it like trash." she complained, with a pained look on her face.

Yomade laughed and she glared at him. He could imagine how the proud she felt when Aduke left without any goodbye. She definitely didn't take it well.

"She had a reason for whatever decisions she made, you should face it and ask her" he suggested. Shade kept mute.

"Mr. Williams isn't her father" she said, he nodded in affirmation, a feeling of pain spreading all over his face
