Chapter 2: A dungeon?

When he woke up without hearing the sound his alarm he knew something had gone wrong.

At first he wasn't even sure if he was awake, everything around him was so dark. Had the lights gone out? Was the electricity out?? He stood up, immediately thinking about the work he hadn't backed up. But he moved too fast and instead lost his footing, causing him to stumble forward onto the nearest wall. That's when he really knew something was wrong.

He remembered he had placed his sleeping bag under the desk, when he stood up he should have banged his head immediately.

There was the possibility that one of his coworkers had moved him to one of the empty conference rooms. But for all the years he had worked for the company, he had never known the walls to be made of rough stone.

He took a deep breath, he was logical person. There had to be an explanation that made sense.

Kidnapping? Maybe, but he wasn't worth kidnapping. He really didn't offer much of value, and his life wasn't interesting enough to have an enemy that would kidnap him.

A hostage situation? No, because how would he have slept through something like that???

He suddenly felt a wave of tiredness and decided to sit down. The floor felt hard and bumpy, it felt like he was sitting on cobblestone.

He wondered if should start screaming, but he didn't know enough about the situation to know if that was a good idea. He wasn't sure how much time had passed, when he heard the sound of footsteps. They stopped and he heard the rustling of a key. He stood up and prepared himself, he knew he couldn't fight. He had never taken to the time to learn self-defense and he spent of his life sitting on an office chair. But he did think that maybe he could rush out the door once it opened and maybe find and exit.

Once the lock clicked the door opened with a bang. It startled him, instantly psyching himself out before he had a chance to make move.

He was unsure what do now. At the entrance of the door stood an older woman. Her back was straight as metal rod, the light that was streaming from behind her was faint so he couldn't clearly see her features.

But in the darkness of the room he could sense that she was looking at him with disgust.

Hi, I hope you enjoy this second chapter!

I’m not planning to have set lengths for each chapter. Some might be longer or shorter, my goal is to end each chapter at a place that makes sense for the flow of the story.

Thank you! And please support “Saving the Witch!”
