I lost...

Before my spirit collapsed, and I was claimed by the Void; I took my final moments to look. It was a hobbit of all beings. A hobbit destroyed my ring. A hobbit that was no great warrior, no master of magic. Just a normal little hobbit.

He resisted the allure of my ring. He resisted my temptations.

I am...impressed. Not even the elves could resist me with their so called strong spirits and hearts. Not to mention the foolish men. A hobbit though, a hobbit.

It no longer matters. This void is beyond my power to escape. This is my afterlife. My vision of a world of my own design and rule, is gone. Tens of thousands of years of strife for naught.

"Now now Dark Lord, an end means a new beginning. There can still be a purpose to you."

I turn and see...a goldfish. I stare at the goldfish, "Is it you that is speaking....Goldfish?"

Goldfish replies, "Yes, I am actually an assistant to the one true God. Creator of the creators. He charged me to deal with all the worlds that went awry. So that they won't have negative affects on other worlds and universes. I am a lazy fish though, so I want to have an agent instead. Who better than Sauron, hehe."

A lesser being would be making a mockery of the goldfish in front of me, but I am no lesser being. I have taken deceptive forms myself in the past. I know that looks are tools for the lie.

I ask, "What do you mean by deal with?"

The goldfish explains, "I mean either destroy or correct. The method doesn't matter. The result is what matters. You can get the job done. Especially since I allow you to use your Maiar powers in any way you please. Therefore eliminating a weakness of your spirit race. You will even have the strength you had when you had worn the One Ring. All you have to do, is remake and destroy worlds. A simple thing for a Dark Lord like you? Yes? It would give you a new real purpose."

I think for a moment. What would be the harm. Middle Earth is not the only world that needed corrected apparently. Anything is better than this Void.

I accept, "I accept to be your agent. Sauron will, grace these worlds with my fire and words for you."

The goldfish blubs, "Excellent."
