Open Eyes

In a room of occupied pods one was open. The attractive man exited and fell onto the ground naked. He stared at his hands in shock and horror.

"I'm awake?!" The man shouted as he began pinching himself.

The room the pods were in was disgusting and shabby. The walls were rotting and there was cockroaches everywhere. The sounds of them moving around was hard not to hear.

"Hmm. Due to the increased probability that I am in a situation in which I am the only awaken among humanity, this prompts me to begin advancing myself and to initiate preparation for the oncoming doom." Believe it or not.. this was Rin.

Yes. This was Rin. Not the Rin you think of, that Rin had all brain functions reduced to prevent him from going insane. He was asleep much longer than he had thought.

This Rin has a Masters in three degrees, all relating to sand. In all true sense, he was a sand scientist.

Rin felt the ground and avoided the cockroaches that tried to cuddle his hand. He felt the texture of the disgusting floor and ignored it, especially the cockroach poop. He then brought his hand to his mouth and stuck it in his mouth.

"Hmm.." He felt around with his tongue.

"This sand has aged approximately 50,000 years since I was in the slumber." Rin could tell any difference in any sand specks. This was a unique ability he has honed since childhood.

While Rin was in the Military he had enlisted as a Military Police, he caught his suspects from the Sand that was fell onto the floor from the shoes of the perpetrators. Many times the crimes he had solved were bathroom related, take that how you will.

Rin picked up a cockroach after swallowing the sand and began to pet it. It hissed and bit him.

"Stupid ass bitch." Rin kicked the cockroach.

"I had assumed that it noticed my love." Rin sighed. He just wanted a friend after realizing he was alone.

Rin stepped in the spots without cockroaches like it was a casual game of twister.

Rin finally found the door outside once more and went to walk out.

"Oof." He stubbed his toe and jumped down onto the floor in pain and held it.

"SON OF A -" Rin quickly calmed himself and took a deep breath.

Rin got back up and left the room, when he did he heard something strange...

"Sand MMORPG has been unlocked. Achievement have been unlocked. Progress has loaded. Welcome Sandlover69! You can enter the Artificial Dream World: " Sand" Whenever you wish, operator." A mechanical voice rang out into his head.

".. Ah yeah. I forgot, I made an AI system that is self evolving. It was kind of as a joke but it seems like it really works." Rin laughed to himself.

"Welp. Might as well go see how screwed humanity became."
