I Do Not Care!

"But I want to know one thing," Kai began, his tone formal yet tinged with curiosity. "Why did the lady seem so anxious about the baron's accident? She burst into my room, demanding an explanation, her face filled with worry. If I remember correctly, the baron isn't related to you. So why do you care?"

Barbara paused, taken aback by his question. She had reacted out of gratitude for what the baron had done for her during her illness, feeling a deep sense of obligation to seek justice for him. Now, however, as Barbara, she realized her actions felt impulsive, almost reckless.

"The baron was my friend's father," she explained, her voice steady. "Seeing her in such pain hurt me. It's a simple matter of compassion."

"That's all?" Kai asked, raising an eyebrow, scepticism written all over his face.
