Thats not a bird egg!

Notes: Quest Kill Flying Animals Changed to kill Birds.

Now, to kill the birds. Basmon went a bit off from the birds, and hid behind a tree, preparing to shoot down the birds.

<System Notification: System has decided that you can abuse spectral body on this quest if the spectral body is used on 'Kill 10 Birds' quest fails.>

The system announcement rang in Basmon's head and flashed in front of his face.

'WHAT!!!! How is it my fault that the medusas head can be abused? I wasn't even thinking of using it! How unfair!' Basmon madly though, punching the tree, startling the birds away. 'Why! Agh! Stupid System! Making me fail a quest for its problem!'

Basmon punched the tree a couple more times until he calmed down. Now, the quest would be a lot harder. He would have to use homing arrow, as he had no way to aim whilst not using Spectral Body. He then desummoned Spectral body and got ready to do the quest.

He had to go back to using bow control mainly for this quest it should seem. Thankfully, 1 Mana/Minute wasn't expensive at all anymore, as he regenerated 2 mana/minute.

Using bow control, he flew right at tree level, searching for signs of birds.

Suddenly, he remembered the odd bird egg. He decided to turn around, as he had not seen any birds yet, and inspect the bird egg first. Thankfully, he had an excellent memory.

After finding the bird's nest, he flew up to it and started to nudge the other eggs. He didn't really care about them, so he shoved them out of the nest, causing them to fall and break on the ground.

Basmon looked at the screen in shock, as he had figured out yet another way to cheat the system.

'...Dude. Really. Wow. Of course my system has the consciousness to freaking do that. How wonderful.' Basmon said, looking at the screen blankly. He had been hoping he had found a way to cheat the system, although maybe not for this mission as he needed to get stronger.

After doing that, he tried to move the nest but failed miserably. He then tried to stab the egg, but the arrow he had summoned just bounced off. After trying to set it on fire, and accidentally starting a "Small" forest fire, he realized that this egg was basically invincible. After trying for a bit more, he gave up and decided to ask the system. 'System, would you happen to know what this egg is?' Basmon asked.

Basmon looked at the screen in disappointment when a new notification appeared in front of him.

'What! A Minotaur egg! And a hidden quest!' Basmon thought, looking at the screen in disbelief. He quickly asked the system for more information on subordinates.

<Subordiants: Creatures that completely obey you (Or whoever insets the mana), to the point of death. To summon, insert some mana into an egg of your choice>

'Amazing... So I could use this guy to be a meat shield whilst I attack from behind him! How wonderful!' Basmon thought, inserting some mana into the large egg. About 5 seconds later, the egg cracked a bit, then a head poked out. It had a large, bull-type fice with small horns poking out of its head. Slowly, the rest of its body revealed itself. Its small body was covered in muscles, making it look unnatural but cute. It was quite hairy too.

The little minotaur looked at basmon, who was floating in the air, tilted its head, then spoke.

"Dada?"

'Aww... How cute!!!! I should name it something... How about Vateus?' Basmon thought, then told the little minotaur. He knew the little guy would grow up into a gargantuan monster, but right now it looked just so cute! 'No... I'm not your daddy... You are my subordinate... But I will name you Vateus...' He told Vateus through their telepathic link.

'Not Dada? Oh... Who Dada?' Vatues said, looking around.

Basmon couldn't bear to tell him that his parents had probably died, as what parent would leave their children in a random nest.

'I don't know... But I do know you now serve me. I will help you get stronger!' Basmon told it, knowing that the minotaur, as cute as it may be now, would grow into a killing machine. At some point, it would die.

'Serve you... Ok!' The Minotaur said happily. Basmon looked at it weirdly with his nonexistent face, confused. He wasn't sure if it was the fact that it had to have full obedience to him, or if this was just how it would respond, but it seemed quite nice.

Basmon had the Minotaur climb down the tree, and follow him. Vatues lost sight of Basmon, who was just a small bow mind you, multiple times, but was able to run quite fast.

Something else interesting to note was that Vatues had been born, quite literally, with an ax in his hand. Maybe this was just a bonus of being born from that egg.

<No. That is an extension of his body. Minotaurs have a natural ax in them formed of mana>

The system's announcement rang out suddenly, shocking Basmon. After he calmed down from the shock, he thought about that. 'So its an extension... How convenient. That also makes a lot more sense. I guess I should assume the ax's size will become bigger with Vatue's size. The problem here is that Vatue is making too much noise, scaring off any life...' Basmon thought, trying to complete the quest.

After slowing down and making sure Vatue would make less noise, they found a couple of birds. In this situation, Vatue would be useless, so Basmon just lined up his shot on a bird that was sitting on a branch. He released the shot, and immediately activated homing arrow. There was no way he could hit a target constantly without a bit of 'Aid' from a homing arrow. Sure enough, it hit the bird square in the eyes, killing it.

All other birds in the vicinity panicked and started to run. Luckily for Basmon, he had homing arrow, and even if he couldn't really trace the birds, he could use homing arrow. He released another arrow after the birds, killing one more before all of them had disappeared.

'Excellent! Now I'm 1/5th of the way done with this quest! Once I regenerate some more mana I should be able to easily do this a couple more times!' Basmon thought happily.

"Wonderful Dada! You got 2 of them!" Vatue said suddenly, Supprising Basmon.

'Wa- Yes! Yes, I did' Basmon told Vatue telepathically. He was quite happy with this outcome.

After doing this, he had Vatue follow him, and started looking for more birds. A couple of times they found them, but Vatue accidentally scared them away. Basmon didn't blame him, however, and just told him to be more careful.

After a couple more hours, they finally finished the quest.

'Wonderful! 40 more TP! How convenient! And now I can FINALLY use spectral body!' Basmon said, shining.

'Aw... I can't use it yet. How tragic. I guess it makes sense though, as that's pretty overpowered. I guess I should wait until I am C-ranked to use that... Oh well...' Basmon though, still happy but not quite as much so. He had been hoping to be able to use that on Vatue and use him to tank.

Next, was to check his new quests. 'Quests!'

'What! What the frick is that last quest! Does this system think I'm suicidal???' Basmon thought, exasperated. 'And what's with the first one! 500 animals! That's outrageous! I guess the 2 others seem pretty easy though... Oh Well...'

Basmon then decided to glance through the new skills, as he needed 5 more skills anyway.

After looking through the skills for a while, basmon decided on 2 to buy, while saving the rest of his TP. First, he got 'Power Shot' which could increase the power of a shot based on time drawn back/mana used, which cost 20TP, and Second Teleportation, which could teleport you to where your arrow currently was, (80 Mana) costing 80TP, so Basmon had 40TP to use in an emergency.

Now, he wanted to figure out how to fight with Vatue.
