Morning came quickly. Link got ready and left the Inn, heading out. Today was the day Link decided to take care of the Bandits. The time for his return to the Academy was getting closer and he needed to take care of things fast or he'll miss out on the loot and exp.
"What's happening?" Link looked around, noticing the people crowding in front of a restaurant. "Isn't that Heavenly Bite? Where Yen works?" Link muttered to himself.
People were talking to each other and with Link's hearing he managed to listen to what was being said with ease from a great distance.
"How horrible!" A woman said. Link could see her lifting her hand and covering her mouth in what he presumed was shock or horror.
"When was she attacked?" A man asked the guard "Doesn't she live in a house on the other side of the City?"
"Yes, but it seems like whoever attacked her, dragged her body here. We're investigating, please back away a little and don't touch the crime scene" A guard said.
Link was walking over at this point. He was confused and worried. Nothing like this ever happened before in the City but now it did. "Yen?" Link said, seeing the unconscious girl laying on some makeshift bed made out of blankets.
In the morning, when people found her in that state, they called the guards and moved her body onto some blankets, trying their best to make her comfortable.
Link walked past all the people, heading towards her. A guard stood in his way "Sir, please back away" He spoke with a stern voice.
Link looked at the guard in the eyes, and before he knew what happened, Link vanished from his spot. He appeared right next to Yen, his hand hovering on top of her. "Holy Light!" Link said.
Wosh!
Yen started to glow with a white calming light. People went quiet, watching the scene. They started to notice Yen's wounds healing, sealing themselves like nothing happened.
"He can use Healing Magic? Is he one of the Holy Church's people?" A man asked in a whisper.
After Yen healed, Link sat there for a bit waiting for her to wake up. He knew that something was up. He couldn't help but think that whomever did all of this and dragged her all the way here was not a coincidence. Link can be a paranoid person sometimes, which was why he decided to push his suspensions to the back of his head for now, but little did he know all his presumptions were so close to the truth.
Last night, Yen was walking back home after her shift at the Heavenly Bite restaurant. She was in a good mood too, humming to herself as she remembered the tips she received that day. "I'm gonna cook a big dinner today" She muttered.
"Hey" A man suddenly came out of a small alleyway to her right, calling for her. Yen looked over, squinting her eyes, trying her best to discern who was the one that called her. The man stood in the dark, avoiding the street lamp's light. "Who are you?" She asked.
The man wore what looked like a hoodie, though she couldn't see anything else apart from a tall figure. It was dark, other people were not seen anywhere in the street anymore. Due to the circumstances Yen started walking away, yelling back "Sorry sir. I'm late and my father will kill me if I take any longer. I have to go" She walked with a quick pace. Trying her best to put some distance between her and the man without raising any suspicions.
"I didn't know your father came back to life. Congrats" The man yelled back sarcastically.
These words sent shivers down her spine. The City wasn't a big one, as most people knew each other, but this man seemed to know things even her friends weren't aware of. "Who are you?" She asked again, turning around.
Yen would take up some Quests from the Guild whenever she had time. She wasn't a strong adventure but she knew a thing or two about fighting. She killed her fair share of Goblins and other low level creatures. Which was why with the man's comment, her anger boosted her confidence, which resulted in her fear being muffled.
"Oh" She yelled. The moment Yen looked back, the man was already right behind her. In his hands she could barely see some gloves. Ones some adventurers who are talented in hand to hand combat used. This sudden approach killed whatever ounce of confidence Yen had in her. She couldn't even hear the man coming towards her, which made her question her abilities.
Bam!
Without giving her any chance to defend herself. The man swung his fist, hitting her square in the face. She was thrown to the side, slamming into the floor with a small incoherent painful moan. Her ears were ringing, while the world around her looked like it was spinning with a force pulling her head towards the ground. She couldn't stay up for more than a couple of seconds before passing out.
The man stood in the same spot, unmoving. "They said she was an adventurer, but she easily got knocked out with a single punch?" He muttered to himself "Dorcy, you're too strong" He said, kissing his gloves.
"You freak. Focus on the job or you're going to mess it up like the last one" A voice spoke from behind him. A black haired woman wearing tight armor with a sword and shield on her back spoke. She came out of the same alleyway the man did.
"Jill, call me a freak one more time and you'll have to deal with Dorcy" The man yelled back, pointing towards the woman.
"You two shut it. We're not finished here" A male voice spoke. Another man was standing next to Yen, looking at her. "You best hope you did not kill her, or we will be in some serious trouble"
"Don't worry Rod, I controlled my strength. She was just too weak" The hooded man said. "Shall i start making more marks on her?" He pointed at Yen.
"Yes, we need to do some damage. Hit her some more, then Jill will help you move her to the specified location" Said Rod.
"Why the hell are they asking us to beat up a girl like that? Isn't this a bit too messed up? Even for us" The man spoke. He took his hood off and looked at Rod. His name was Kail, he was bald with dark brown eyes and an average face.
"We do not ask questions. They paid us fully upfront. Let's get this over with and go back" Rod said, vanishing from his spot.
"Alright Jill, let's get back to work"

Link sat on the restaurant's front stairs waiting for Yen to wake up. After half an hour she came to, looking around in confusion. "Where am i?" She asked in a panic. Seeing all the people around her with guards and blood on her clothing. Yen started to freak out.
"Hey Yen, calm down" A voice came from behind her. She looked back, seeing Link with his hand on her shoulder. She sighed in relief while asking "Link, what happened?"
"I wanted to ask you the same thing" Link said, explaining to her the situation.
Yen seemed like she didn't remember much of last night. All she managed to remember was a man calling for her from an alleyway. After getting her statement, the guards left.
Link walked her home as he waited downstairs in the living room for her to change. An hour later Yen finally came down. She wore a pretty dress with boots and a shining necklace. "Why is she so dressed up?" Link thought to himself.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting. I couldn't help but shower, i felt disgusting" She said, blushing a little. "Why the hell am I blushing for? I was assaulted yesterday but i'm acting like nothing happened. Get your shit together Yen" She yelled in her head.
"It's fine. So did you remember anything" Link asked.
"No, sorry. But I remember the man's voice" She continued, describing the oddly low pitched voice to Link, but as they spoke about it for a bit, Link concluded that it might have been some type of voice changer. He thought that if someone was to pull something like this, he wouldn't risk for others to recognize his voice if it was that unique. Link wasn't sure if voice changers existed in this world, but that was his only lead.
Link took Yen out to get some food, in an attempt to cheer her up. But he noticed that there was no need for him to go that far, as she seemed to be too cheery for someone that was beaten and thrown in the street. They walked around the area where she was assaulted and Link couldn't find anything that might help him figure out who were the ones responsible.
The only things he managed to get from the whole situation was that the incident was not done on a whim, as the man knew her and was waiting for Yen specifically. Second, he did not steal anything from her. He didn't even take the money she had in her pocket. Third, they had a goal in mind, which Link didn't know what it was yet as to why they moved her in front of the restaurant was still a complete mystery to him.
"Mr Sherlink Holmes is on the case" Link thought to himself. As an image of him in a tweed suit came to mind.
