Not scared anymore!

Standing at the gates of the university, Dove finally accepted that time had really turned back. She was going to enter into a completely different but old world. Her eyes were soft and moist. The intensity of emotions that she was hit with couldn't be described in words. She had taken a different path. She would not go through the heartache and suffering that she once went through. Everything from now on would be pleasant.

Behind her, Andrew was standing holding her luggage. She could have taken outside accommodation but she chose to take a dormitory. In her last life, she was not able to walk on her own when she joined that institute due to an accident and so she had to live outside the campus for the first semester. After that, she didn't know if she would be able to get comfortable in the dormitory so she never tried one. Because of this, she had very few friends. This time she decided to live life in a different way which meant she would do things that she didn't do last time.

There was a thing about every particular age– we are not able to do certain things. However, as we grew up, we realize that we could do such things and even feel how stupid it was that they didn't try it before. Dove was feeling the same way after completing her graduation. She could have gone to live in a dormitory but her fear of not taking a risk took away the best time of her life. For many years, she wondered why she didn't take such a small risk back then. For the mature and older Dove, it was just a small matter but for the younger Dove, it was a grave crisis.

Things change with age and so does our perspective of seeing them.

"Birdie, I'm getting late, " Andrew said, checking the time on his wristwatch.  "I have to take a class in an hour. I will drop you at the dormitory and then I will help you with other things later."

He would have four classes a week at the university. Today happened to be the first class of the week. Since he could not change the schedule of the class, he had to finish her work first at university which started with getting her settled in the dormitory.

"I will manage, dad, " Dove said with a smile. "I can go to the dormitory on my own."

"No, I will drop you there, " Andrew said. "I will reach class in time. I'm a fit man."

Dove laughed. "Yes. Dad. But do you want to scare away my roommates? What if one of them is from your department? I don't mind people knowing I'm professor Harrison's daughter but the girls may be intimidated."

She didn't know what reputation her father had as a professor. But she wouldn't want to get visited by her professor in the dormitory.

Andrew sighed. "You are right. But I will still drop you outside the dormitory."

True to his words, he dropped her outside the dormitory. He was teaching on campus for a while. He knew how things worked here. If a boy saw a pretty girl holding this much luggage, they would crowd her and offer help. Some of them could be very persuasive and he didn't want to overwhelm her on the very first day. Moreover, not all boys were good. He would wish that his girl focused more on studies than boys here. He had everything settled– Not just any loafer would dare to date the professor's daughter.

As Dove entered the dormitory with her luggage, she saw a group of girls walking past her. They were giggling and blushing while whispering to each other. An amused smile played on her lips. How could she forget that once she was at this age? Just meeting eyes with a boy could flush your cheeks. She knew that she had an old soul and she would not be affected by such things. Yet, she was looking forward to things as interesting as many that had to come.

She took the elevator to her floor while she was keeping her luggage inside, a very cute girl with curly ginger hair and big glasses pulled her head out of the book that she was holding and said in almost a whisper, "Let me help you please."

Dove's heart melted. Who is this cutie? The girl was extremely short. Freckles like stardust covered all of her nose and cheeks and when she spoke, it felt as if someone was playing soothing music.

"Thank you a lot, " Dove offered a smile.

The girl seemed to smile but she instantly lowered her head and dragged the suitcases inside the elevator.
