Chapter 33: Prove It
"Emma Roberts, because of you, we've wasted so much valuable teacher time! Admit it now and spare yourself embarrassment!" Lisa Liang shouted.
Emma smiled, "Ms. Liang, you are the one questioning me and causing this trouble. If time is wasted, it's you wasting everyone's time."
"You..."
Before Lisa could retort, Emma turned to the other teachers, "To save trouble, how about each teacher prepares five questions on the spot, totaling twenty-five questions? If I get any wrong, it means I cheated!"
This way, her overall rank wouldn't be affected, and it would prove her scores were real.
Zachary Brown rubbed his chin, "Hmm, Emma, your math is worrying... shouldn't it be thirty questions for each subject?"
Emma's face darkened, "No math."
Zachary raised an eyebrow, "Why not math?"
Emma remained expressionless, "Because I hate math."
Zachary clutched his heart, acting hurt, "Math is the most fun..."
Emma: "..."
The teachers discussed and agreed that Emma's suggestion was the fairest and saved time.
Each teacher prepared five questions on the spot.
Soon, twenty-five questions were printed out and divided into five small test papers.
Zachary Brown, not giving up, also prepared five questions, eagerly watching Emma.
Leonard Liu checked his watch, impatiently saying, "Start. Is thirty minutes enough?"
"Yes," Emma agreed, sitting down to answer the questions.
The teachers sat on a nearby sofa, drinking tea and waiting.
Lisa watched Emma intently, her face full of mockery. She wanted to see how long this girl could pretend.
Emma skimmed through the questions and began to write.
To avoid luck, the questions were all fill-in-the-blank.
In less than thirty minutes, Emma had finished.
The teachers quickly graded the papers. The result was... all correct!
Except for math, which was left blank.
The questions were as difficult as the mock exam, but Emma answered them all correctly?
Lisa Liang, correcting the last five English questions, turned pale, "This is impossible! Emma Roberts always came last! How could she suddenly excel overnight!"
Emma remained expressionless, "Maybe I'm a genius?"
"Pfft..." Zachary, initially frustrated, laughed, "This girl probably knew the answers before but purposely left the papers blank? Kids in their rebellious phase can be understood! Now the truth is clear. We have another excellent student. Isn't that a good thing?"
Zachary turned to Emma, "Emma, you really hurt my feelings by hating math! Can we make a deal to give math a chance?"
"Sorry, I can't."
"..."
Emma turned to Leonard Liu, addressing her main concern, "So, Director Liu, what about my expulsion notice?"
Leonard Liu, receiving Lisa's frantic eye signals, looked uncomfortable but had no choice.
Finally, he said, "According to school rules, your excellent exam results mean the expulsion decision can be suspended for observation. If you prove you've changed, the decision will be revoked!"
---
As Emma walked out of the disciplinary office, the crowd of students parted, their eyes wide with surprise and curiosity. She had done it; she had proven her innocence. The whispers and murmurs followed her, but this time, they were filled with awe rather than suspicion.
In the hallway, Emma saw Samantha Green, her closest friend, waiting anxiously. "Emma! What happened? Did they believe you?"
Emma nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Yes, they did. But it's not over yet. I have to continue proving myself."
Samantha hugged her tightly. "I knew you could do it! Just keep showing them what you're made of."
As the school day ended, Emma found herself at her favorite spot on the rooftop, a place where she could think and gather her thoughts. The sunset painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, a symbol of the new beginning she was embarking on.
Emma's resolve grew stronger. She was no longer just a student trying to survive high school; she was on a mission to prove her worth, not just to the teachers and students, but to herself.
---
The following days at Clearwater High were different. Emma's reputation had transformed. No longer was she seen as the underachieving student; she was now a symbol of perseverance and intelligence. Teachers treated her with newfound respect, and students looked at her with admiration.
Emma continued to excel in her studies, her determination unwavering. She spent long hours in the library, pouring over textbooks and practice papers. She sought help from teachers when needed and joined study groups to further her knowledge.
One afternoon, as Emma was leaving the library, she bumped into Aiden Xie. His usual aloof demeanor was softened with a hint of curiosity. "Emma, I heard what happened. You really pulled off something incredible."
Emma shrugged modestly. "I just did what I had to do."
Aiden's eyes narrowed, his competitive spirit ignited. "Don't think this means I'll go easy on you in the next exams. I plan to reclaim my top spot."
Emma smiled confidently. "Bring it on, Aiden. I'm ready."
The rivalry between Emma and Aiden became a driving force for both of them. They pushed each other to new heights, their friendly competition bringing out the best in each other. The atmosphere in Class F was charged with excitement and determination, with Emma and Aiden leading the way.
Emma's journey was far from over, but she knew she was on the right path. With every challenge she faced and every victory she achieved, she grew stronger and more confident. Emma Roberts was no longer just a name in the school records; she was a force to be reckoned with, a beacon of hope and determination for anyone who dared to dream big.
---
In the quiet moments, when the school was empty, Emma would often return to the rooftop, reflecting on her journey and the challenges that lay ahead. She knew there would be more obstacles, more doubters, but she was ready. Emma had found her inner strength, and with it, she would conquer anything that came her way.
