The Job begins

Watching the crowd of people surrounding the merchant's supplies, Xilo wondered where all these people had come from. This was a neglected job from Dracal Hall however it looked like it was different in other scenarios. "Makes sense, Dracal Hall is primarily for Materials." The merchant in charge had four different carts carrying supplies in a formation. Three along the outside and the biggest one was in the center, all being pulled by two headed beasts that looked like giant dogs that grew a small pair of arms on their backs. In the front of them was about twenty people protecting and leading the way while the sides had about ten each. Finally the back side had another twenty people and was where Xilo's group was assigned.

"About sixty people in total for this and there's even more merchants that are tagging along further back, hopefully this is enough."

"It should be more than enough, as long as everything stays normal."

Discussing things with Tearia on his side, Xilo kept a watch on the roads as they walked. Regardless of whether this was an easy trip or not they were being paid to protect everything and not fool around. He wanted to leave a good impression if possible and from his small chat with the merchant they had he liked her quite a bit. She was a more bubbly type of person that got in your face but that was to be expected from someone in this line of work. "She seemed nice at least." Her name was apparently Felian and she worked for a smaller company with her family but that was more than enough for Xilo. Everyone had to start somewhere and grow from there.

"If only that's the case."

Continuing to chat with each other, Xilo had to admit their small group stuck out like a fire in the middle of the night. Mostly everyone was wearing armour or seemed unapproachable except them and a few others which attracted a few stares. It was slightly unwanted attention but there wasn't much he could do about it. At least that one woman hadn't bugged them yet. He had noticed her joining the group when they left but he hadn't seen her yet. "Wonder where she went?" With hours passing they walked with the sun growing stronger and only a few stray Astral beasts attacking them. Most of the time though, Xilo's group didn't even have to move an inch when it happened. They were swiftly dispatched and the group kept moving.

Watching another Astral beast get its head sliced off Xilo was rather impressed with this group's skill.

"These people are quite strong and seem to be used to this kind of thing."

"Of course they are boy, They do this kind of thing for a living."

Hearing an unfamiliar voice enter his ear, Xilo turned around to see the one person he had hoped it wouldn't be standing there. That same pink haired girl from before was standing behind them suddenly. "When did she get there?" He had barely noticed her presence until now, though he was a little more thrown off by her sudden change in attitude. Before she seemed to be a cocky control type but now she gave off an air of kindness. Thinking about how he wanted to approach it this time he thought about his reply but before he could say anything Tearia stepped in for him. Xelfia and Relia silently watched from the side, not bothering to stop her either.

"And who are you to shove yourself into our conversation?"

Tearia might be different now but she was still far from nice to strangers.

"Ahh, right I haven't really introduced myself and I suppose we did get off to a bad start. My name is Seli and I was also assigned to guard back here with everyone else. I know I might not have been the nicest early but please forgive me for that. I was a bit upset and had lost my temper."

"So you beat up a dude in the middle of the street?"

"I'm sure you'd beat someone up if they started trying to get handsy with you too, or at the very least maybe the silver haired one here would for you or am I wrong?"

Since they were unable to stop walking forward Xilo continued walking without being able to look her in the eyes. He did know that most likely that question was directed at him and if that was the case then he couldn't blame her. He would do the same thing without question in a heartbeat. "She's also trying to be nice this time." The earlier confidence and power she had in her voice was gone so Xilo let it go as he replied to her. If he wanted to meet more people and build connections then holding grudges over small things wasn't something he should do.

"You're right Seli, I would and instead of calling me silver haired, you can just call me Xilo. That's Tearia, this is Xelfia and finally Relia. It's nice to meet you though, I'm curious as to why you came to talk to us."

"These are typically long trips and I'm alone this time. Your group seemed like the easiest to get along with so I figured I'd grab myself a few talking partners to help pass the time. Nothing serious of course if that's okay with you."

Her voice was filled with sweetness that bounced off her tongue with each word but Xilo had no reason to refuse. An extra person to talk to wasn't a bad thing to him. "Haaa...I guess for this job it's fine." Convincing himself that in his head he turned to the three women beside him that were on edge and calmed them down quickly before he nodded at Seli. Once she saw his agreement Seli smiled as she trotted up next to their group and joined them in their little line they made. There weren't many other women here so she was super happy to be able to at least talk to a big group of them over more men and it helped fill in the boredom she was suffering.

"That's fine with us, I hope we get along."

"Same!"

Enjoy.
