Chapter 53: Angela

The woman lept from her high rise balcony in search of both Al Simmons as well as the 'Superman' who was causing a stir all across the world.

Her name is Angela, she was a renowned Hellspawn hunter, who had personally hunted and killed at least 30 other Hellspawns who have appeared on Earth through the years.

Her origins are a mystery, even to herself, she was originally told she was created from five seperate mortal souls being melded together using the pure light emitted from God's pulse. Each of the five chosen souls died too early, they had all sacrificed themselves to save their lived ones, she was told this by the Angels in Heaven when they recruited her and trained her to become a Hellspawn bounty hunter.

Her abilities were semi-immortality, she basically doesn't age, is highly resistant to poisons and can only be killed by demonic or holy weapons, teleportation, superhuman strength, superhuman reflexes, she had extremely high charisma, a hand to hand combat master, and otherworldly tracking skills.

She has been around since medieval times, it was her who in sixteenth century England had lured Medieval Spawn, who was newly created and recently born into the realm of the living, so he was still in a state of confusion, to a remote area and killed him. That is one of the rules of engagement for angels to attack a Hellspawn, to kill them away from human eyes. The other rule is they required a permit given out by heaven in order to kill a Hellspawn.

She decorated her armor with the carapace emblems that are left behind when a Hellspawn is killed. She even turned two of them into earings that she wears all the time as trophies, even when she is not in her armor and in regular clothes as she travels around the world.

Angela had believed what the angels had told her, since she has no memories of the actual point she was born, plus she did have flashes of "memories" she had attributed to be the memories of the five souls she was supposed to have been born from.

However it wasn't until much later that she learned that this wasn't the truth, this is also when she learns that Heaven isn't what she thought it was, or what she was taught by the other angels.

Angela had thought Heaven and the angels were a force for good, while Hell and its demons was the evil side that had to be vanquished. But the truth is not what she thought, at least not entirely, Hell was definitely bad, but Heaven wasnt exactly good either.

In the Spawn universe, the God that rules heaven and the angels isn't the all powerful being he portrays himself as. That title actually belongs to the Mother of Existance.

She had created an infinite number of Gods to safeguard the worlds across the universe. What happened on Earth was she gave it to her two youngest twin sons named God and Satan.

These two entities despised one another with every fiber of their being, however they were both equal in strength so neither could actually kill, let alone defeat, the other thus they just battled endlessly, causing massive destruction in the process.

Then God created humanity in his image, only to have Satan give humanity free will, thus causing even more fighting amongst the two brothers. Their war brought humanity to the brink of destruction since they both had became obsessed with obtaining human souls.

So the Mother of Existance stepped in to protect humankind, seeing them as a unique race of beings, and imprisoned both God and Satan to give humankind a chance to evolve and grow, free from the constant warring of her two sons, who at this point she began to see as disappointments.

Unable to imprison her two children for all eternity, she gave both of them new lives, having them be born as two human twins on Earth. She had hoped that by doing this, having them live amongst humanity as humans themselves, that they would change their ways.

Sadly this didn't work, and the two began to fight once again, they wasted no time after they regained their memories, which was thanks to a powerful being known as Zera who granted those memories back to them. After regaining their memories and thus all their previous powers and knowledge, they began gathering their armies to wage Armageddon.

However Al Simmons had interfered in their war by gaining the powers of a God himself, in his empowered Spawn form he laid waste to both armies, causing God and Satan to, for the first time ever, actually join forces to defeat Al Simmons. However Al used his godly power to strip all life off the planet, ending the conflict in an instant, turning Earth into a wasteland.

Once this happened Mother of Existance arrived and denounced both her sons, stripping them of their powers completely. Spawn however requested she return their powers, which she reluctantly obliged, once back at full power both God and Satan prepared to fight Spawn once again only to be denied the fight due to him turning his back and just walked away.

In their anger they combined forces and obliterated Spawn as his back was turned, this ended all hope for humankind to return since Spawn had all life on Earth within him. The Mother of Existance appeared once again and told them that thanks to their foolishness humanity was lost forever, never to return.

The crazy thing is that moments after she left the two to think on their mistakes, they once again began to fight each other on the wasteland that was Earth for all eternity. So to sum it up the God of Heaven and Satan in Hell were spoiled brats that just didn't like each other.

So it was never about who was good or who was bad, it was merely because the two brothers just couldn't stand the other, a fight between children basically that involved the lives and souls of humans.

Needless to say Angela turned on Heaven and joined forces with Al Simmons, she was abhorred by the reality of the war, because Angela was actually similar to Aiden, she was a God-like being herself from another universe.

Her real name is Aldrif Odinsdottir. Thats right, she is the daughter of Odin and Freyja, Thor and Loki's sister from the Marvel universe. She had been kidnapped as a babe by the Queen of Angels in an attempt to blackmail Odin into surrendering during the war between Heven and Asgard. When he refused she seemingly killed the baby and fled back to Heven with the "corpse". Odin then used his power to seperate Heven from the nine realms and Yggdrasill. Thus the Spawn universe was created seperate from Marvel. Heven was then renamed Heaven afterwards.

The Queen of Angels handed the "corpse" of the baby to her handmaiden to be disposed of, to which the handmaiden found that the babe was still alive, so she changed her name to Angela and she was trained to be a bounty hunter for Heaven.

It was why Angela didn't have wings like her other angelic sisters. She was Asgardian, not an angel. It was also the cause of her various "memories" she had mistook as five seperate souls, they weren't memories, she was a sorceress like her mother. They were visions she mistook as memories.

As Angela began to teleport around the city, she began to track Al Simmons, she specialized in tracking things she has hunted before, so it didn't take long for her to locate his traces.

As she got closer, Aiden suddenly felt her presence, "Hey Al, you don't happen to be expecting company right?"

"No. Why do you ask?" Al asked as he looked over to Aiden.

"Well, then Zack I think you should run along now." Aiden said to a young homeless boy who stumbled upon the duo as they talked amongst each other.

Aiden, feeling bad for the boy had gave him food, a blanket, and a bracelet, he was still connected to the Fortress of Solitude so producing such things was simple.

As Zack began to grab the extra food to share with his father, Aiden's eyes squinted as he felt a sudden danger, turning around he quickly caught a large golden lance that was barreling towards him. This shocked both Al and Zack for the lance had appeared out of nowhere.

"Your good. Fast reflexes as well as superhuman strength, what a welcomed surprise. I go hunting for the Hellspawn over there and I find the so called Superman along with him. There may be rules on when I can kill that Hellspawn, but there are none such rules against killing you." Angela stated as she licked her lips.

"Oh, rules you say? So I take it there isn't a rule about stabbing an person in the back that hasn't provoked you then." Aiden said with a raised eyebrow.

Angela just gave a smile, then tried to retract her lance, however Aiden held on to it causing her to be unable to pull it back.

"Hmm, tall, mysterious, strong and handsome. I am going to enjoy this." Angela said with a big grin.

Aiden looked to Al, who got up and got into a battle ready stance, "Are all beautiful women this crazy here, or do you just attract them willy nilly?"

"I think she's here for you." Al retorted.

"Oh no, I clearly heard her say she was after you." Aiden said then looked at the woman in front of him and asked, "I'm right, right? Your here for him."

"Not anymore. He has been relegated to the snack, but you handsome, you have became the main course and desert." Angela stated as she dashed forward to begin hand to hand combat.

Dropping the lance Aiden blocked a right uppercut which caused Aiden to be launched into the air and slamming thru a wall of an abandoned building.

"Damn woman, you pack a punch. I have never been hit that hard before." Aiden said as he blocked another punch coming from his left after she teleported to his side to continue her assault.

This time Aiden didn't move, he had felt her strength with that first punch so now he knew what to expect. This was Aiden's first time ever dealing with a superhuman, at least outside his training program his brother put him thru.

"Your not so bad yourself Superman." Angela used her momentum to launch a double kick which she hit with half of her strength which once again launch Aiden out of the building again since she used much more strength then her first two hits.

Aiden didn't get hurt by the attack, but he was still surprised by the strength she released, "Just how strong are you Mrs. Stabby? And why the hell are you attacking me for? Did I beat up your hubby earlier or something? Cause if so he is a criminal, in case you didn't know." Aiden said as he continued to observe her.

He hadn't attacked yet cause he didn't feel evil from her, he felt her alignment was similar to his own, so he thought this was a misunderstanding. He knew he was hanging out with Al who did eminate a little bit of a bad aura, he was a Hellspawn after all. But Al was more True Neutral, so not all bad, he knew the man had potential to do good if he was steered in the right direction.

"The name is Angela, and I am single, never married, but that may change." She stated as she used her ribbon armor to pull her lance back into her hands.

"Wait, what? Hold on a second. You aren't like the Free Folk back at home are you? Like I beat your ass and then we are married right... Right? That's not a thing here too is it, cause then I have some shitty luck, I mean what ever happened to taking it slow." Aiden said as he dodge an attack.

"Maybe. But you have to survive the ordeal first, handsome." Angela said as she began to launch a combination of lance thrusts along with punches and kicks.

Angela had used her Angelic Ribbon to wrap around the handle of her lance to basically act as a fifth limb to attack seperately from her punches and kicks.

"Well I guess if we are are going to play, then lets play." Aiden said as he dodged and blocked several blows, only to move in and begin to launch his own attacks.

He wasn't going all out but was shocked she was able to dodge several of his swings and counter attack him. She had superhuman reflexes herself which allowed her to dodge the first several attacks, but Aiden slowly began to ramp up his speed.

This shocked Angela as she began to notice Aiden's speed slowly beginning to increase, thus his attacks were also getting closer and closer. Seeing an openning Aiden hit her with a mid-air flash kick which hit her square in the jaw which had her fall backwards.

However Angela used this hit to teleport to Aidens other side and try to stab him with the lance, but Aiden parried the lance to the side with his left hand and elbowed her in the rib cage which he then teleported about a foot backwards, knowing she was going to try the same trick again, which she did only to end up with a knee to her face and a hammer fist that sent her flying towards the ground.

Just before hitting the ground at high speed she once again teleported, but this time she appeared above Aiden and stabbed him with the lance, however to her shock the lance passed right thru him.

"Teleportation is a bitch, isn't it." Aidens voice appeared above her as he double kicked her in the back. As she fell once again, she used the ribbon to wrap around Aidens leg which pulled him down with her, since it was using his own strength along with her own to pull down.

'Damn she is good. I may have to get semi serious with her. She is strong, fast and hardly dressed. So distracting.' Aiden thought as he began to increase his speed even more.

Grabbing her ankle Aiden teleported both of them into the upper atmosphere, where oxygen was extremely thin as well as it being extremely cold. He had hoped it would slow her down.

However this didn't work out like he hoped, Aesir can survive in the emptiness of space as well. Just look at when Thor ran into the Guardians of the Galaxy, they literally ran into him with their ship, like a bug hitting a windshield, as his body floated in space which woke him up.

"Fine, guess we are doing this the hard way." Aiden said as he released his aura that he had been consciously hold back since he had been hanging out with Al.

Had he not done so he could've hurt Al unintentionally due to his alignment. Since Angela was of Lawful Good like him his aura wouldn't be damaging, but it could still be a sufficating experience to endure, especially if he consciously focused on it.

As soon as he released the aura, the affect actually did affect her greatly, but with a bit of an side effect. His aura triggered her memories as a babe, as she fell unconscious, many memories began to flood into her mind as dreams.

This occurred due to his healing capabilities, so it unlocked her traumatic experience of her near death experience, she had a loving family life on Asgard, only to be used as a pawn against her father, who also showed no hesitation in refusing to surrender.

Although it may have been the right thing to do as King, he didn't even take a few seconds to think about it and responded directly, so coupled with the feeling of being unloved and then almost being killed, her mind had locked that trauma away. So when she awoke in Heaven she had no recollection of her true origins.

It also didn't help she was bullied by other angels for not having wings herself.
