Since childhood Wyatt has always followed the advice of the adults around him. Study hard! get a good job! honestly not bad advice the problem is that's all he has ever done. In the year 2200 the first immersive full-body VR system is being released and with it comes the insanely hyped MMORPG Primal Online. With everything, someone could ever want from a fantasy game, it's no surprise when it takes the world by storm. Never taking any time for hobbies or interests Wyatt's life has quickly fallen into a constant loop of mundane boredom waiting to be broken. This all changes one day when his cousin invites him to try this new game during a family get-together. It doesn't take long for a spark of interest to emerge. Disclaimer: This is my first novel as well as where I plan to simply practice writing to get more comfortable so I don't know how detailed or active it will be.

Affinity and Training begins

Taking in a large breath of air Wyatt began his march toward the crystal his nerves spiking a little as he mumbled to himself praying for a wind affinity. Arriving next to the large floating crystal his jitters seemed to settle quickly relaxing his mind as he reached out with both hands and grasped the crystal.

Instantly on contact, Wyatt felt a sudden rush of unknown energy surge through his body warming him with a comforting feeling almost. Reminding him of a chilly winter day when he would drink hot cocoa and huddle next to the fireplace of his home Wyatt couldn't help letting out a long gasp of air as he stood waiting for the crystal to start its work.

Seconds later the flashing lights of the crystal seemed to drain out until it was left completely transparent. Wyatt began injecting his own mana into the crystal, and not long after a bright yellow ring could be seen forming.

"Hmm, lighting affinity not bad, hard to control but very destructive in a battle" Saleen informed him with a nod waiting for any other changes.

A couple of sweat drops could be seen forming on Wyatts forehead slightly nervous due to the lack of wind affinity so far but luckily those feelings wouldn't last long as a similar ring formed this time light green in color.

"Not bad not bad you actually have an affinity for wind" Saleen gestured towards the second ring with a smile.

All his nervousness quickly left his body as a large sigh escaped him no longer having any worries. No longer caring about the crystal Wyatt was about to let go when he noticed another ring forming underneath the other two this time a shade of violet.

Turning towards Saleen and tilting his head Wyatt waited for an explanation. Instead, he witnessed her walk closer to the crystal before she started examining the third ring from much closer.

"Honestly I don't think I've seen a ring this color before so I'm not exactly sure" she answered scratching the back of her head. "But don't worry although I haven't seen it personally I have an assumption based on some things I've heard in the past" she continued still admiring the violet ring.

"I believe you have a rare poison affinity but we will need to check with a mage instructor to be sure" she declared.

Although Wyatt was curious he didn't actually care much about what his third affinity is since he already got the wind affinity needed for his chakrams. Telling him to wait a bit Saleen left to grab one of the mage instructors from a nearby training room.

"That is indeed a poison affinity ring" The mage confirmed her suspicions while his eyes curiously glanced over to Wyatt showing interest in a new potential mage with a rare affinity.

Noticing the mage eyeing her potential student Saleen rolled her eyes before carrying him out of her training room and locking the entrance.

"Well, I would be lying if I said I'm not interested in seeing a chakram magician who uses poison" Saleen confessed while looking over Wyatts physique.

"Sigh honestly you need a lot of work if you want to succeed" She mumbled to herself before looking Wyatt in the eyes and declaring "Becoming a chakram magician won't be easy it might take years of training not just on your body but also mana control and movements!." she paused checking his intentions of staying before continuing.

"With all that being said if you are still interested in pursuing my path I will happily accept you as my disciple" A bright smile graced her face as she reached out her hand.

"I'll try not to disappoint" He said accepting her handshake.

Now with all the formalities out of the way, it was finally time to start his training. Walking over to a bookshelf Saleem pulled two books out before tossing them over to Wyatt "Before we start training sit down and learn these".

[control lightning] [control wind]

Primal online isn't like other games where having an affinity for an element means you can naturally control them in fact besides unique affinities like Wyatts poison all natural elements require the user to have learned the corresponding control skill.

Sitting down with the books Wyatt began studying.

"Sadly I don't have any books for poison skills but I'll check around town maybe one of the mage shops will carry something. Honestly, I wouldn't get my hopes up I've only ever seen poison affinity books so they aren't exactly the easiest to secure". she sighed informing him.

"No problem teacher I can focus on my basics for now. I'm not in any rush to learn poison skills since chakram training will take a while anyway." he responded dismissing her worries.

Roughly 10 minutes later Wyatt finished both books and checked the new pop-ups in front of him.

[skill learned: control lightning] [skill learned: control wind]

Now with his basic control learned Wyatt chose to focus on controlling wind mana for the time being since his priority was becoming a chakram magician.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 hour later

Wyatt could now be seen sitting in the middle of the training ground while controlling two small disc shaped objects around him. Although they weren't moving very quickly the feat was still impressive considering the very little time he had invested thus far.

It should be stated that controlling elemental mana is actually more difficult than just using a skill since those happen automatically. In fact, Wyatts control progression was so impressive that even his teacher had shining eyes while admiring his training.

While he was focused on his training Saleen took the chance to go collect some ingredients from local magical shops.

Another 30 minutes passed before she returned with a large basket filled with an assortment of both weird and gross looking ingredients. Proceeding to drag out a large metal cauldron she began throwing the collection of objects in while mixing it all with water until it all turned into a murky green liquid.

"Ok that's enough control training for now, get over here" Saleen shouted towards her new student who was still engrossed in training.

Hearing his teachers voice Wyatt released his mana letting the two floating weapons fall before standing up and stretching his legs after a long sit. Walking toward his teacher Wyatt cautiously observed the cauldron for some reason it made his skin crawl looking at the liquid.

Watching his disgusted face Saleen couldn't help as a slightly evil grin appeared on her face.

"Perfect! now strip down and get inside" She declared laughing at Wyatts shocked face.

".....that was a joke right?" he hurriedly questioned his teacher with pleading eyes.

"Did I sound like I'm joking? Hurry up get in before I throw you in myself" she answered back crushing his last hope of avoiding the disgusting liquid.

With a large sigh, he finally complied stripping down before submerging his body in the vile slimy liquid. Instantly he felt as if the gravity on his body had tripled and his body was burning all the way down to the bone making him scream out in agony. This pain continued for 5 minutes before the pain switch into a poking feeling as if every muscle in his body was being stabbed by small needles. Luckily the poking feeling didn't last nearly as long as not long after a wave of refreshing feeling washed over his entire body making him gasp out.

"See that wasn't that bad just a little pain" Saleem stated Clearly trying to hold back her laughs.

Rolling his eyes at his teacher Wyatt dragged himself out of the cauldron before his teacher dumped a large tub of water onto him cleaning all the excess filth and goo still clinging onto his body.

Straight away Wyatt noticed that his body felt much lighter as if he had finally removed weights he had been wearing his entire life. After getting dressed he proceeded to jump and sprint around the training room getting used to the changes in his body.
