Flashback
Evie came down from the Range Rover Jeep which had driven into her musical theatre, her assistant stood beside her, carrying some certain files and she walked beside Evie while the security officers walked behind her.
Evie sat comfortably on the swivel chair in her large office before turning her attention to Mia, her assistant.
"What concert do I have next and in which country?" Evie asked, her gaze focused on her laptop.
"Singapore ma'am."
"Alright, get me the details of the concert and also set everything up for us, the hotel bills and so on," Evie ordered and Mia replied with courtesy.
"You may leave." she granted her a pass and with this Mia left her office.
Evie was busied with her laptop, writing new songs. It was just a matter of time before she becomes a worldwide musician, a smile graced her face when she thought of that.
Evie's phone rang and she looked at the caller ID, it was her mom.
"Hello mom, it's been quite a while," Evie said
"Hello daughter, how are you doing in Newyork city?" Her mother asked.
"I am a fine mom and you?" Evie asked
"I am fine sweetheart."
"That is good to hear then," Evie stated.
"I have been seeing your recent albums and I can not express how proud I am to have a daughter like you, it is rare to find a child who does not depend on his parents for survival." Sonia complimented.
"Thanks mom, I am just trying to achieve that dream I had since I was a kid. I also want to thank you for your massive support even dad too." Evie added.
"Well, I and your father want you to return home, it is being eight years since we last saw our daughter and we want you to come home. You should come home honey," Sonia told her daughter.
"Is it that urgent mom, I have other things to do. Things like my concert in Singapore, I have to write new songs, I promised my fans I would release lots of songs these months, I cannot possibly let them down now," Evie complained.
"Family first remember, besides it is urgent you return home, we need your presence," her mother stated causing Evie to sigh in defeat.
"Fine mom, I would come home but promise me it would not take time, I would just stay over for a few weeks mom," Evie demanded and Sonia could only say yes.
Sonia knew that if she told her about the arranged marriage over the phone, Evie would never return, and now she felt bad for making a promise she could not fulfil to her, returning to New York City was a no-no. How would she even return when she is been tied down by marriage.
After the call ended, Evie summoned Mia to her office and told her to cancel all her concerts and appointment that she has for the next few weeks and book a flight for her at least tomorrow.
At first, Mia was surprised at her instructions, but she had no choice but to obey, she promised to be back after a few weeks. Everything would return to normal once she returns from wherever she was going.

Evie breathed in the fresh air from her new environment.
Her home, indeed there was no place like home.
She looked around the airport as she majestically walked to the parking lot where a convoy of cars was waiting for her.
The siren of the police van made Evie shake her head in disbelief.
Her parents never cease to surprise her, like seriously? Must they send off these cars and Jeeps just to pick one person from the airport?
Many people wanted to get a view of her, it was not on all occasions you see wealthy celebrities in the airport, so if you get the opportunity, you utilize it properly.
"It is Evie, the music artist of the year," some whispered and Evie only smiled, many were already live on social media, some taking pictures of her while some bold ones asking for an autograph.
Evie did not hesitate to sign the first few who asked for her autograph but realizing they were becoming much, she ordered one of the security officers to lead her out of the arena.
"Good day ma'am," the SWAT officer greeted as he bowed, Evie nodded her head in approval of his greetings.
Evie ignored the already opened door of the limousine and demanded the keys to the Lexus RX 350.
The security officers were surprised at her demand but had no option but to obey, no one wants to lose their job.
The ride to the mansion was very smooth, a lot of change in eight years.
"Wow," exclaimed Evie as they drove in through the computerized gates.
The mansion she left eight years ago looked so new, beautiful and extra attractive.
Well, her mother loved the latest model, it was no surprise to her, it was the handwork of her mother.
This place felt like real home as she walked in through the front door.
Sonia was seated waiting for her daughter's arrival, upon seeing her, she sprang up and engulfed her in a warm long hug.
The two women hugged each other like they were never going to see each other again, tears flowed down Sonia's face, tears of joy!
"Welcome home ma'am," a familiar voice echoed behind Evie, whipping around to see who that was she found Eric, their butler.
"Eric!" She screamed as she hugged him, it has been eight years since she last saw everyone, a lot of change!
"You have aged," Evie started examining his face, the wrinkles on his face and his black hair turning grey were evidence that age was no longer on his side, he was getting older by the day.
"You look so big Evie, I am proud to see your achievement so far," he said happily.
When she was a little girl, she had always shared the dream of becoming a hip hop music with him, and he advised her to pursue her dreams and here they were, though she has not yet become very popular, she was coming up.
He remembered her telling him that she wants to be the most popular music artist in the world, and how he encouraged her.
He knew her very well even more than her parents who are too busy making money than taking care of their only daughter and child. Sometimes he hated them for not creating time for the little girl.
Not everything is about money, they (her parents) go about spending money on her, buying lots of things for her all in the name of making her happy but that was not how to train a child.
Time, love and affection matters.
