Chapter 1: The Crew

Year 2030. A boy called Ryan Nell was awoken by the most horrifying noise he had ever heard…his alarm. He used the rooster ringtone and it kept bugging his ears until he eventually decided to get up. He washed his face, brushed his teeth, searched for his school uniform, the usual.

As Ryan got ready for school, the lights turned off. He tried to use the torch on his phone but it didn't switch on. He was sure that his phone had been at a 100% before taking it off charge. He walked around the house trying to recall where everything was.

Suddenly, the lights turned on again. Ryan couldn't explain what just occurred so he let it slide and decided that the government could take one for the team. He picked up his school bag where he left it the day before and headed to the bus stop.

The bus came just as Ryan got to the stop and he boarded it with the rest of his fellow schoolmates. Everyone was talking about what happened in the morning and what if the next time it happens, everything will stay off forever. Everyone except seven individuals.

First off is Ryan our mc. He is your average nerd, average in height, sunburned, no glasses and dry skin. People usually confront him but he answers with the same answer. The amount of water in his blood is below average so he his skin won't be getting silky smooth anytime soon.

Next to him sat Clifford Alexanders. He always says that when they made his birth certificate, a spiteful guy added the s to his surname and that it should be Alexander.

Clifford is slightly above average height, yellow skinned and has more hair on him than King Kong. His eyes is between light brown and green and he has sharp teeth. He also gets really crazy when he's in a good mood. He also has King Kong's strength.

In front of Ryan sat Wilbur Bardman. He is a little longer than Ryan and can be considered average in height. We all call him by his nickname which is Willy. Willy's skin colour is lighter than Ryan's and he has a beard that is slightly hairier than Ryan's.

Willy also started rapping and despite him not being an internet sensation, he is quite popular around the parts where they live. Oh yeah, they live in a small town called Storyville and they go to school at Lotus River which is in Caledonia and is only about 24 kilometres away.

Next to Willy is Spenza Adams, also known as The Ai. The Ai is a Rastafarian with a yellowish skin complexion. His beard is kind of greenish and he wears huge sunglasses. His dreadlocks reaches to his shoulders and despite his looks, he is considered the strongest among us with the exception of Evert.

Behind Clifford and Ryan sat Vaughan Mauritius. They shortened his name to Vaughie. Logically, it is not shortened if you take in consideration the syllables. Vaughie can't exactly be physically described since he looks weird but here goes nothing.

Vaughie has a light brown skin colour and his eyes are dark-brown like most people. He was sort of fat but after he started smoking weed, his ass got smaller. Vaughie is a piece of sh-, trash when he is in a bad mood but he is the life of the party when he is in a good one. He is also the most streetwise between the crew and always has a lot of information.

Next to Vaughie sits Jayswon Van dyk and everybody calls him Dawg. Dawg is kind of quiet so it's easy to talk to him about anything but it could be said that he is also the coolest between all of them. Dawg's skin colour is light brown and he wears earrings.

Dawg has dark brown eyes like most, again, and has this smile he does before he comments on something he thinks is funny. Dawg also has a great kicking foot since he kicks everybody that puts him in a bad mood.

Chatley Williamson sits across from Ryan and is also his best friend. They had the same classes and everything. He goes by the nickname Wikkie and he is quite a bit longer than Ryan. He is even longer than Clifford, which says a lot. Wikkie's skin colour is possibly the lightest light brown you can find.

One thing that makes Wikkie stand out like sore thumb is the small black dot in the middle of his forehead. His eyes is also dark brown and his nose is kind of pointy but luckily, it's not big. They don't discriminate against people with big noses but a big nose in high school will get you bullied.

Anyway, that's the crew, basically, and they were all heading to the same school. When they arrived, they went to the cafeteria to get their fill on porridge and like they normally do, they ate extra slowly so that they could defy the law and get to their respective homeroom classes late.

Homeroom was surprisingly long and Ryan got really bored. Ryan and Wikkie was in the same class but they sat really far from each other. Dawg and Willy was in the same class and in the last class was Clifford, The Ai and Vaughie. Ryan was just about to take out his phone when everything turned off again.
