The Ghoul Child

At that moment, the area seems to lighten a little, Jaebin snickered at him, and covered his mouth, in an attempt to hide his sneer.

"Why, hello brother! You didn't miss a step in recognizing a ghoul this time."

He then crossed his arms and watched him earnestly.

Yeonbin's twin obviously loves to poke fun at his brother's frustrated expression, also more on the fact that he's overall distracted. But from behind them, So Eun may use that to his advantage.

However, the last thing he intended to do is to trust Jaebin.

So he stood there discreetly, mirroring the sibling's actions.

"You came here not long after. Any progress?"

Yeonbin began, his voice isn't wavering compared to his knitted brows.

So Eun can tell that he's prodding around the matter and is being incredibly sharp about it, he didn't miss a step but undoubtedly missed the lowly Deity standing at the side.

So Eun still got time to spare and his mind wandered to what events Yeonbin might have encountered on his way, to which will be none of his business in the end.

"Nothing intense. I can handle this seamlessly, you know."

Jaebin clicked his tongue, and finally turn his head towards the sleeping kid.

He said it so casually, like the Emperor's most wanted criminal wasn't here right at the moment.

Yet So Eun still waited, feeling his hands tensed when Yeonbin crouched and examine the binds with his hands.

"Nothing far-fetching happened yet. You see, this ghoul child isn't ordinary and his spirit has yet to be deformed from the underworld. Why don't you use your knowledge in getting out pieces of information from him?"

The blinding seal had required enough effort to open, but opening it immediately will cause the child to lose his sanity and go feral inside.

If they proceed using that, the child wouldn't be willing either to provide what they needed.

Because at the very start, they originally intended to keep him here to investigate the case of him being the ghoul child-eating soul and properly buried his soul in peace, not to further enrage his deep torment.

But at some point in time, anything vicious and destructive that was beyond saving than an innocent soul will eventually end in a Deity's hands.

So Eun's initial plan was to leave the work to them, but unlike any other encounter, something tells him to wait and watch them silently.

Until perhaps, Yeonbin will eventually notice him.

If that is what his intuition was telling him, he'll have to stay and find out.

Yeonbin continued to kneel past his brother and pressed his two palms, bolts of lightning strike emanating through his hands.

And then suddenly, the golden lanterns attached to the ceiling swayed vigorously when Yeonbin unleashed the lightning sparks onto the binds.

Jaebin stood there, not putting on a single glance at So Eun anymore.

After a while of their cloaks dancing in the wind, Yeonbin opened his eyes and stretched his hand towards the child.

He emitted his spiritual foundation of thunder from his core that formulated a wisp of wind along with the steam that came surrounding his person.

The smoke promptly faded by the snap of Yeonbin's fingers, and within the silent hall of the Palace, it was as loud as a teapot falling into pieces.

When that happened, So Eun was trying to squint his vision out of the mist, yet seconds passed, and it was immediately devoured by a crystalline glint.

In an attempt to protect his eyes, he raised his arm sleeve. But the shimmer only lingered for seconds and the moment he tried to open it, there were already three people standing in front.

Jaebin and Yeonbin had their back to him, and the other person showing their face was an odd person, bearing the countenance of a lifeless being.

Then the atmosphere had somehow changed.

The Ghoul Child's spirit takes shape outside the binds.

So Eun had never encountered a spirit so pure and unscathed, nor an enthralling light that embodied the ghoul child's soul.

He was rather bewitched, and the apprehensive feeling of being noticed was pushed to the back of his mind.

Something else protrudes that tells him by the beat of his heart alone, that he was walking on the right way towards all of this.
