Chapter 221: Vergo

Droplets of blood hit the frozen ground.

"That was a bit too close for comfort…" She looked at the harpy that was lying on the ground.

The snow around her body had broken apart, revealing her real aspect, a knife was embedded in her skull, and she had a terrified expression on her face.

Her blood kept dripping on the cold ground.

"Oh…im still…" She seemed to remember something.

"Right, I don't have my regeneration anymore…"

She had to hurry up and dress her wounds with torn pieces of her clothes to stop the bleeding. By the end, she was feeling quite light-headed.

Then, she retrieved her sword from the floor while her knife that was still on the head of the harpy woman.

After confirming that she was one hundred percent dead, she removed the bloody knife and stored it again.

Her leg was throbbing in pain as she walked.

"This is nothing, I have gotten much worse in the past…" she told herself as she left the circular room.

After walking for a bit, she found a big open door with a set of stairs going up.

Three powerful signatures were fighting and she was able to recognize one of them.

'Trafalgar Law.'

A second one was also familiar but different at the same time.

'That must be...'

In a massive chamber filled with machines, two men were fighting in front of a giant container with the words "S.A.D 8599" written on it.

"Room…shambles! , come back heart." Law opened his hand and a gelatinous cube appeared on top of it, inside it, was a human heart, still beating.

But right after grabbing it, he was kicked by his opponents with tremendous force and was sent back against some iron rails, forcing him to lose his grip on the hearth.

The other man grabbed the cube and held it with his right hand. He squished the beating heart on his hand and this made Law scream in agony.

He then moved at lightning speed and positioned himself in front of Law before smashing his face with an elbow blow, not giving his oponent a moment of respite.

Law reacted by placing his two thumbs at the sides of Vergo's left arm.

"Counter shock!"

Spark seems to appear out of nowhere and shock the attacker.

Vergo's body moved back slightly but other than that, Law's attack did not seem to have much effect.

"You should have known better, Law. Betraying Joker can only end with your death…"

Law lifted his bloody face to look at the other man.

"I had calculated how to get my heart back from Caesar, you are my only miscalculation, Vergo."

"Is Mister Vergo to you!" He squished the hearth in his hands once more, making Law give a bloodcurdling scream.

Vergo stopped his torture and turned around when he sensed more people enter.

"I'm in the middle of something right now."

Franky(Tashigi) and the marine Captain named Sebastian were staring at him with surprised eyes.

"Vice-Admiral Vergo?, what are you doing here?" Franky(Tashigi) looked at him with eyes opened like plates.

The old Captain, on the other hand, looked at him with suspicion.

"You are one of the strawhat pirates…and Captain Sebastian" His eyes moved underneath his sunglasses to the duo.

"No no!, I'm actually Captain Tashigi!" she hurried up to correct.

"I'm like this because of Law!"

"Right, there was mention of that during the meeting…" Vergo said softly.

"What are you doing here, Sir? Were you called too?" Franky(Tashigi) asked.

"Just taking care of a pirate, as you can see. Everything is under control, you may leave." Vergo stored the hearth carefully under his jacket and faced them.

Franky(Tashigi) smiled when she saw who he was fighting.

"That's great, you secured Trafalgar Law!. We can now ask him to return my body."

She started to approach Law and did not notice Vergo moving to her side.

"C-careful.." Law said with difficulty.

"Tashigi, get away from him!" Shouted Sebastian.

"Huh?" Before she knew what was happening, a blackened fist was smashed against her head, sending Franky's body flying with incredible force.

"Tashigi!" Sebastian called before looking back at Vergo.

"How long have you been a traitor, Mister Vergo?!"

Vergo looked at the old Captain.

"Traitor?, I have always been loyal to the young Master."

"I take it that this young Master is not Caesar…you are talking about Doflamingo then. So, all this time you have been with Marines…" The old Captain clenched his fist.

"Don't get so worked up, old man. You are going to have a heart attack, but then again…I will have to kill you. You know too much." Vergo spoke coldly.

Law made an attempt to move from his spot and Vergo answered by slamming his fist against the spot in his jacket where he had stored the hearth.

"Ahhh!" Law spat a mouth full of blood and collapsed.

"Wait there for me, Law. I'll be done in a minute." Spoke Vergo.

The old Captain Sebastian cracked his knuckles.

"Youngsters these days are too arrogant. Let this old man teach you a lesson."

The two men disappeared in a blur before repeating in the middle of the room. Their haki-coated fists clashed together, creating a shockwave.

"I did not know you were this strong, Sebastian. Why are you still a mere Captain?" said Vergo with his impassive gaze.

"I'll let you know that I was offered the position that you held a good twenty years back…but I could not let that little girl alone." Captain Sebastian spoke with a kind smile.

Franky(Tashigi) opened her eyes. She was able to listen to part of their conversation as she hadn't been completely knocked out.

She moved her body to sit straight and stared at the fight between the two marines.

"Captain Sebastian is amazing!"
