Chapter 7

The monkey stared at him for coming up with such a stupid name. Alex however, didn't care about the monkey and said "I will call you Brittles from now. By the way, I am Alex."

The monkey did stay silent though, and after a while they both fell asleep. The next day, Alex asked the monkey, Brittles, "Why don't you come with me to my cave?"

Brittles accepted and followed Alex to his cave. When they got there, Brittles immediately panicked and caught Alex's arm, trying to pull him away from the cave.

Alex asked "Do you recognise this place or something?" and the monkey nodded it's head. Alex was wondering what made the monkey behave like this, and a huge snake, of around 30 feet in length and three feet wide, hissed at him from behind.

Alex turned back and saw the huge snake glaring at them. He also noticed a few scales on the body of the snake. 'So, it went to shed its skin and I ended up coming to cave at the exact time.' Alex thought and cursed his luck.

Alex threw the rabbits they caught, at the snake and ran away. Since it just finished its shedding process, it would be tired. Alex provided it good so that it wouldn't chase them.

The snake ate the rabbits, but they weren't enough to satisfy its hunger, but was tired to hunt. So, it slept in the cave while Alex and Brittles were running away from the cave.

After running for a while, Alex stopped and said "I can't just leave that cave. I left my 30 million there. It is a large amount which I can't leave back there."

Brittles looked at Alex and he could understand what it wanted to tell, just by looking at it. "We can't defeat it even if we fight together." is what Brittles wanted to tell.

"I know we will die if we try to go back now, but there is a way to kill it if we work together. The snake can be a huge gain for us. We can go for Mithridatism, it is a process where we take small doses of poison to gain immunity against them." Alex explained and Brittles thought for a while and gestured Alex to go ahead with his plan.

"So, here's what we are gonna do....." Alex explained. Meanwhile, in some unknown location in the calm belt, the revolutionary who was about to execute Alex at the beginning, was standing before a man with a weird red tattoo on his face.

The revolutionary fell to his knees and said "Forgive me Dragon, I thought that I was helping the people of the kingdom. There were many rumours that they were suffering a lot, I couldn't just sit and let it continue, so I took action without informing anyone."

The man with the tattoo, Monkey. D. Dragon, said "I can understand how you felt Trece, but you must have investigated about the kingdom, instead of blindly attacking it. Your little mistake has led to the death of 100 of our men. Trece, you are are an officer of the revolutionary army and are responsible for many lives."

Then Trece said "Dragon, shall we go save them now? I heard that another leader has come, who is really a tyrant. We can also bring the citizens back with us this time. Last time, I thought that he was just a weak king, so we thought that killing him was enough."

From Dragon's side, a woman with short purple hair, red sunglasses and a cigarette in her hand, said "It is of no use. The king you were about to kill, managed to kill all hopes of rebellion in their hearts. The kingdom also has an ore, which makes it important for the government, as I heard that they are making canons for the navy."

"Trece, leave this matter for now. We will take care of this place when the time comes. As for now, reflect upon your actions and think about how you are going to answer to those lives." Dragon said and sent him away.

Dragon then picked up a wanted poster of Alex and said "Alex Mondict, he managed to escape from both the revolutionary army and the Cipher Pol. Belo Betty, what do you think of him?"

"It would have been good if he joined the revolutionary army, but seeing as how he disappeared after the incident, I guess he is planning something against us or the government. Or, he just wants to live peacefully. Either way, we can't get him to join us." Belo Betty replied, the woman with the purple hair and one of the Commanders of the revolutionary army.

"Observe his actions when you find him." Dragon said and Belo Betty left the place. Back to Alex and Brittles, they went back to the rabbit field and caught a few more rabbits.

They didn't allow the snake to get enough rest. A snake is very sensitive to heat and sound, so it doesn't matter if they try and sneak attack. So, they came up with another plan.

When the preparations were ready, Alex walked to the snake cave and as soon as he got close to the cave, the snake opened its eyes and hissed at Alex.

Alex glared at it and said "You should have moved to a different cave, then you wouldn't have to die." throwing a rock at its eye.

This agitated the snake and it furiously moved towards Alex. Alex ran into the woods, with the snake following him.

He knew that he can't outrun a snake. So, he positioned Brittles close to the cave and ran towards that place. When he got close, he shouted "NOW" and Brittles swung down with the help of a vine and stabbed the eye of the snake with a branch.

"Yeah .....shit.... Brittles, it was too shallow. It didn't reach its brain. Run." Alex shouted. The snake shook around furiously in pain and anger. With the other eye, it looked at Brittles and jumped at him furiously.

"Brittles, distract it. Run around and bring it back to the cave. I will prepare for the final blow." Alex said and ran to the cave. The snake completely ignored Alex and went after Brittles, who was desparately jumping from one branch to another, to run from the snake.

Alex returned back to the cave and took out a knife from his luggage. He tried it to a long stick and turned it into a spear. He then climbed up a tree and waited for Brittles to come back with the snake.

He waited for a while and was worried that Brittles got caught by the snake. It was at that moment, he heard Brittles screech from far. He smiled and waited, ready to attack the snake.

When Brittles got close to the tree where Alex was, it immediately jumped to the side and Alex jumped down the tree, aiming straight for the other eye of th snake. This time, he used all his weight to send the spear straight to the brain.

The snake however, brought its tail and whipped Alex away in its final moments before falling down unconscious. As for Alex, he was sent flying away and he crashed into multiple bushes, slowing him down, before hitting a tree. Although he was slowed down, he still had various broken bones.
