Chapter 3 (Edited)

Luckily, The system or whoever was in the Void was kind enough to send clothes for my new body. I was wearing a plain white t-shirt, black pants with black boxers underneath, and classic sports shoes. Not too fancy, but good enough for me.

I quickly noted that my body was full of energy. My movements were quick and precise, my senses were sharp, and my reflexes were terrific. I'm guessing this is the perk of my new body.

I walked into the water and saw my reflection on the surface. I looked handsome and confident with short black hair and deep blue eyes.

Satisfied with my new look, I walked toward a nearby rock and tried to punch it as hard as I could. I wanted to test how strong I was. But...

Boom!

To my utter surprise, my punch blasted the rock into many smaller pieces scattered around. I'm not sure how much force that was.

"System, show me your functions." I finally remember the system asked aloud while forgetting that I could use it mentally. I mentally headpat myself and looked at the screen shown in front of me.

This time I mentally command it to show my status. Another screen pops up, showing me my status/parameters.

My status surprised me, especially the talents. I guess I got Void's blessing by actually visiting the place. The problem I have is with the second talent. It's a bit unnerving to see nothing but question marks. I guess this talent is the speciality of my soul. I don't know the use of this talent besides preserving my memories and personality from any damage.

I sat on top of another rock and checked out the inventory. Another screen popped up displaying the items in my inventory. There's nothing except a question mark in one of the slots. Curiously, I clicked it, and the system showed me the information about the item.

It's nice to know that I get a novice gift for owning the system. I quickly opened the package, fully knowing that there wouldn't be another one in the future.

Nice. I got some pretty good stuff from the package. I could always use the money when I'm in civilization. I can use the sword as my start-up weapon. And, the rough map of East Blue is better than nothing. I was shocked after seeing the devil fruit, though. I knew about the types of devil fruit from some spoilers. I forgot the name of other types of devil fruits, but I remember the logia. It's cool to transform into an element and be immune to most physical attacks.

(A/N: Please remember that MC has no future knowledge about the plot ahead of the Arlong arc. He just knows some spoiler about an overpowered Villain hiding behind the scene in the world government, haki and devil fruits, the death of Whitebeard and Ace, and knowing Blackbeard being an octopus or some bullshit with three hearts. MC saw some One Piece video with spoilers in the thumbnail or heard others talking about it during the job.)

I contemplate whether to eat this fruit or not. Then, I remember a thumbnail showing a beautiful picture of Nami manipulating some clouds using some weird sticks. I thought to myself decided to store it in the inventory for the time being. I don't think I'm in a hurry to eat a devil fruit. I don't want to have a weakness of seawater when I'm just starting out. And, maybe when I recruit Nami, I'll give this to her. She's more suitable for this fruit than I am.

And maybe, I'll get another fruit suitable for me in the future. I don't want to rush to eat a devil fruit when there's no immediate need for it.

I bring the sword out of the inventory and store everything else inside. I swing it casually to feel its weight. It's a single-hand steel sword with just enough weight to make the strike powerful feeling bulky.

Holding the sword in my right hand, I started thinking about my survival. Finding fresh water is my first priority. I decided to head deeper into the forest, carefully scanning my surroundings for any threats.

Swish!

Suddenly something jumped in my direction, and I quickly stepped aside to see my attacker.
