As Lucifer walked into the tavern, dozens of eyes quickly focused on him.
Some patrons subtly reached for their weapons, prepared to strike if needed.
Failoo Island was a dangerous place—a harsh land where the strong preyed on the weak. Those who survived here were usually experienced fighters, always on guard. Whether eating or sleeping, they kept their weapons close.
But Lucifer's young appearance was deceiving, and after a quick glance, most people in the tavern resumed their business.
Lucifer walked up to the bar and took a seat.
The tavern owner greeted him, "What can I get for you?"
"A bottle of rum and a roast," Lucifer replied, placing a stack of money on the counter.
The owner's eyes gleamed as he saw the money, and he broke into a twisted grin. His face was covered in scars, one even cutting across his lips, giving him a sinister look.
Judging by his muscular build and scarred face, it was clear this owner was no ordinary bartender—he was likely a retired pirate hiding out here, away from the Marines.
In less than two minutes, the rum and roast were served.
Lucifer poured himself a drink, took a sip, and cut a piece of roast, savoring the rich flavor.
"Not bad, you've got some skill," he said with a smile.
The owner nodded, "Glad you like it."
After finishing his meal, Lucifer swirled his drink and asked, "So, who's the strongest person in this town?"
As soon as he spoke, the tavern went dead silent. Every eye was suddenly on him, some widened in disbelief.
The owner hesitated, "Why do you ask?"
"Oh, just curious. If possible, I'd like to challenge him," Lucifer replied calmly, "I either kill him, or he kills me."
The moment he finished speaking, there was a loud crash behind him. A table had been overturned, and five or six burly men stood up, moving to surround Lucifer.
"Hey, kid, who do you think you are? You talk big for someone so young," one sneered, pressing a pistol against Lucifer's temple.
"Keep running your mouth, and you might lose your life."
Lucifer stayed unfazed, a calm smile still on his face. Ignoring the gun at his temple, he asked, "Are you connected to the person I'm looking for?"
"Yeah, kid," the man with the gun growled. "In this town, the strongest is our captain, Lord Renault."
"Is that so?" Lucifer murmured. "Perfect. I was looking for a guide."
His voice dropped to a chilling whisper, "Flying Sword!"
Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!
In a flash, blades of light sliced through the air, spilling blood everywhere.
Everyone in the tavern froze, stunned by the sudden turn of events. What they thought was an overconfident brat had shown his true colors—a terrifyingly strong young man.
When the crowd recovered, they saw that the six men who had surrounded Lucifer lay in pools of blood. Five were dead, pierced through the heart by flying swords. Only the man with the pistol survived, though his gun-wielding hand had been severed. Now he knelt on the ground, screaming in agony.
Lucifer set down his glass, turned to the man at his feet, and asked calmly, "Can you take me to your captain?"
The pirate looked up, hatred in his eyes. "You… you have no idea who I am! I'm from the Angry Leopard Pirates!"
"Do you know how strong our captain is? You're dead! He'll hunt you down! Even if you run to the ends of the sea, you won't escape—"
Boom!
Lucifer's hand shot out, and the pirate's head exploded, splattering blood and gore across the tavern.
The unlucky patrons nearby were sprayed with blood, but no one dared move—not even to wipe it off. Lucifer's presence filled them with dread; they feared that any sudden movement might provoke him and lead to their deaths.
"Too much talking," Lucifer muttered, retracting his hand. "I just asked you to lead the way."
He looked around the tavern, still smiling. "Anyone else willing to take me to the Angry Leopard Pirates' base?"
Lucifer's calm smile contrasted sharply with the carnage he'd caused. It was hard to reconcile his charming appearance with his brutal actions. In one swift move, he had killed six pirates, leaving one of them headless.
The cruel ruthlessness hidden behind that handsome face left everyone in the tavern in shocked silence.
