Robin's sudden arrival startled Zala, causing her to pull away from Gnar's embrace.
Despite this, she remained weak and obediently nestled in Gnar's arms, her expression resembling that of someone caught red-handed.
Of course, Robin had orchestrated the timing. The moment Robin, clad in a thick white down jacket, entered the room, he beheld Gnar and Zala locked in an embrace, their lips entwined, igniting a pang of indescribable jealousy within him.
Naturally, Gnar sensed it too.
Nevertheless, he could only chuckle at the situation. In fact, the pleasure from the recent sensual dream occupied his thoughts incessantly.
Initially intending to utilize his fruit's ability to monitor Zala's condition, Gnar unexpectedly unlocked a new ability.
Gnar sensed he had discovered another intriguing facet, as dreams were typically a creature's most vulnerable state.
"Heh-heh..."
Gnar chuckled twice, showing no intention of releasing Zala from his arms as he inquired leisurely, "How was it? Did you find anything valuable in Drum Kingdom?"
Rolling her eyes at Gnar, Robin replied with a hint of disappointment, "Unfortunately, I didn't find what I was searching for. But Captain, did you uncover what you sought?"
"Oh? Where?"
"In response," Robin continued, "The Wapol king you dispatched had amassed a vast arsenal within the country, including the sea stone you desired."
"Is that so? Then, Robin-chan, I'll entrust Zala to your care for now. I'll go and inspect..."
Gnar gently placed Zala back on the bed as he wiped the sweat from her brow.
This action caused Zala's shy cheeks to blush momentarily, enhancing her allure.
"Rest well. I'll return shortly!"
"Mm!"
With Zala's murmured agreement, Gnar departed the palace.
Robin and Zala remained the sole occupants within the entire palace.
Approaching Zala's hospital bed, Robin inquired with genuine concern, "Miss Zala, how are you feeling?"
To be honest, Miss Zala remained slightly bewildered about her physical state and how she had arrived there so suddenly, prompting her to ask curiously, "Miss Robin, why am I here?"
"Eh? Miss Zala, don't you remember?"
Miss Zala pondered deeply before recalling, "I remember feeling unwell and lying down to rest. The next thing I knew, I was here..."
"I see."
Robin proceeded to explain, "During your time on Little Garden, you were bitten by a species of mosquito called Caschia. This mosquito injects bacteria into the human body upon biting. There are five types of this bacteria, with an incubation period of five days. Without treatment within two days, it's fatal!"
"Fatal!"
Upon hearing the word 'fatal', cold sweat formed on Zala's forehead.
So, it wasn't a dream. Had she truly skirted death just moments ago?
"That..."
As if sensing Zala's uncertainty, Robin added with an unusual tone, "It was Captain Gnar who noticed your illness. He carried you alone, flying half a day to Drum Kingdom where local doctors treated you in time."
"Drum Kingdom!"
Zala immediately grasped the significance. As a Baroque Works agent, she was well aware of Drum Kingdom's reputation as a prominent medical hub.
At that moment, Robin imparted with meaningful intent, "Captain Gnar cares deeply for you, Miss Zala. He even risked his life to ensure you received treatment. He went as far as eliminating the country's ruler for you!"
"!!!"
Zala's expression instantly turned to shock.
Though Baroque Works was renowned for executing various assassination missions, assassinating a country's ruler—especially one aligned with the World Government—was an audacious act even they hesitated to undertake.
Gnar had done it for her...
In that moment, Zala recalled the tender look in Gnar's eyes from earlier and reflected on the dream she had. She felt an inexplicable surge of emotion, her thoughts conflicting with her loyalty to the boss.
Observing this, Robin recognized the opportune moment and smiled mysteriously, "So, Miss Zala, wouldn't you like to do something for Captain Gnar?"
In the realm of white ice and snow,
Countless bloody bats flitted around the frosty castle, monitoring every movement within.
Accompanied by Cro Malimon, the Drum Kingdom's affairs officer, and Jess, the Chief of Staff, both former underlings of Wapol, Gnar strode slowly through the thick snow toward White Castle.
No need for Gnar to prompt them, the two subordinates spoke up voluntarily.
"Don't worry, Lord Gnar. No one knows about Wapol's demise, not even his soldiers who were aware have been dealt with."
"Dalton is in the civilian village at the mountain's base, unaware of your arrival."
"Excellent!"
Gnar commended the pair with a nod, fulfilling his promise, "You may continue enjoying your current privileges."
As the words left his lips, to the astonishment of his two subordinates, crimson blood surged around Gnar's body, coalescing beside him into a figure identical to the deceased Wapol.
"From now on, he is your king. Serve him loyally, do you understand?"
The two subordinates stood transfixed, but swiftly grasped the situation, kneeling in response.
"We...we understand!"
"We will serve His Majesty Wapol faithfully!"
They exchanged glances, their shock palpable, yet they dared not voice their astonishment.
"Good."
Gnar nodded in satisfaction, leading them onward.
Moments later, they arrived at a towering castle. At the heart of White Castle loomed a massive iron gate resembling a mountain.
"Is this it?"
Chief of Staff Jess queried deferentially, "Yes, Lord Gnar. This is the Drum Kingdom's arsenal, housing all its weaponry."
The affairs officer, Cromalimon, produced a key and presented it to Gnar, saying earnestly, "Lord Gnar, this key accesses an arsenal crafted from half-meter-thick refined steel, standing ten meters tall. It's impervious to manual opening; only this key can unlock it."
Gnar prepared to accept the key but paused at Cromalimon's words.
"You mentioned it cannot be opened manually?"
Cromalimon hesitated briefly, before Gnar raised his palm and struck the iron gate with a resounding clang.
"Fascinating!"
He exclaimed, withdrawing his hand and flexing his arm muscles. His fist became a blur to the naked eye as it smashed into the iron door with a thunderous crash.
Instantly, a deafening roar reverberated throughout the Drum Kingdom. The entire island trembled, causing ice and snow atop the mountain peaks to cascade like a torrent.
Both Cromalimon and Chief of Staff Jess, standing nearby, were deafened by the thunderous noise. The impact was so intense they instinctively closed their eyes and covered their ears.
When the dust settled, they gazed up to see a colossal breach in the center of the door, the surrounding steel glowing red-hot, dripping like molten lava...
