"Will you still get it for me if I say so."
"Yes I will Ms Jane. Just say it."
Silence followed after as she prepared her mind and her body at what she was about to say.
"I want to be your girlfriend."
A minute of silence followed. Jane and Francis stood there frozen staring at each other's eyes. Her body was frozen because she couldn't believe what came out of her mouth, and his body was frozen because he wasn't expecting that, or wait, did he hear correctly?
He shrugged. "Ms Jane, do you realize what you're asking for?" He asked in a wry smile.
"Yes I do." She said confidently not knowing where the confidence was coming from. She couldn't believe she was saying all these too. "I want to be your girlfriend. I want to love you."
A smile hovered on his face. It was the first time he smiled at her and she completely went out of breath. "Ms Jane what you're asking of me is impossible."
"Why?"
He narrowed his gaze to her. "Because I don't do love Ms Jane." He said with a devilish smirk on his face.
Her heart went broken for a while, but she confidently spoke. "But why? Why don't you do love?"
"Tsh." He smirked. "It sucks get it. And I will NEVER love you." He said coldly stressing that word and opened his car door.
"I'm not asking you to love me."
What she said made him pause. "Then what?" He asked not staring at her. His back facing her.
"I.....I want to be the one to love you." She said as she bit her lower lips in nervousness. "But...but I'm not asking for your love in return."
He shut the door and faced her and shook his head. "Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk Ms Jane. Are you that desperate that you're going to ask for a one-sided love uhn."
She swallowed and stared at him confidently. "Yes."
"Hahahaha." He laughed like a devil. "Ms Jane, do you realize what a one-sided love is? Do you realize a one sided love is more heart destructive than a heart break."
She has heard, read and seen many movies about a one-sided love. All the books she read, all the stories she heard of and the movies she watched about a one-sided love, all told her one thing. It's more destructive than a heart break.
"I know."
"Hmmm." He nodded. "And do you know that I will NEVER love you along the line."
She exhaled and nodded.
"Do you know that I'm picky when it comes to my girls?"
She remembered Lisa telling her the other day that he was picky when it comes to the girls he spends with.
"Yes."
"I see. And you want to be my girlfriend?" He asked scrutinizing her from her up to down.
Her heart thudded wilder in chest praying not to be rejected by him.
"And what if I tell you, you're not my type."
Her heart stopped beating for a second. Those words sounded like a slap on her face. She was expecting it but not that way. May be much nicer.
She bit her lower lips and continued. "I know. I'm just asking for a request."
"Request you say." He echoed back those words raising his brow. "Hahaha. I'm sorry Ms Jane, your request has been rejected."
Her eyes were about to tear up but she refused to let it, and gathered a little more courage. "Why don't you try me and see for yourself.
"Haha. Try uhn?" His lips curved up to a sexy smile and slowly walked behind her and whispered in her ears. "I guess you're right. I think I should give you a try." His hot breath in her ear made her held her breath not realizing how long she has been holding on to it until he spoke. "I'll be having a masquerade ball party the day after tomorrow. Come to the party." He said as he approached to his car.
She blinked in utter confusion. How's attending a ball party going to be a try out. She bit her lips and asked. "How's attending a ball party going to be my try out?"
"Ms Jane." He said with a sexy smirk on his lips. "No further questions. Just attend the party. Here," he said bringing out his phone. "Dial in your number."
She nervously took the phone and did as she was asked.
"Good girl." He said taking his phone and opening up the car door. "I'll text you the address." He said, his back against her. "And I guess you'll be staying at Lisa's."
Before she could say a word, he shut the door and the car accelerated away as she stood there in that same spot.
