"Please forgive me." She cried out feeling really bad.
Minutes of crying passed by, when she stood up and lazily walked up to the staircase. She hated herself, her existence on earth whenever this feeling came in her. She always felt like the world can't give her the happiness she had always wanted and prayed for. A happy life with her complete family, or a happy long life for herself or a happy love life. Life always gave her the opposite she wished for and that frustrated her a lot.
Her room door creeked open and she walked in. It was already dark outside. The moon and stars shone brightly beautifying the dark sky. She got on her bed and thought about how miserable her life had become over the past years. From the incident, the nightmares and now her love life. Sometimes then, she couldn't wait for her time on earth to be up, so that all the miserable feeling she had felt, all the pains she caused everyone around her, will all die along with her. She thought that was the best way and the only way to free herself. She had thought few days back, that her two weeks relationship would make her forget everything - even if it's just for a while, but just like always, she felt like she had brought her bad luck to the peaceful home, to him. She looked around the room and a bitter smile hovered on her face.
"It's just two weeks. When I'm gone, I'm sure your peaceful state will be back. Please bare my unbearable presence with you." She paused and chuckled inward bitterly. "I apologize for any unpeaceful occurrence my presence had brought."
After talking to herself and apologizing to the house as if it were a human, she undressed and walked in to the bathroom. Her hot bath took longer than usual. Her mind wavered about Francis' whereabouts. She worried for him and why he acted the way he did to her earlier. He made her feel like her presence disgusted him at that time. After a long hot shower, she got out and dried herself up and put on her white short nightdress. She walked out of her room and descended down the stairs. The grand parlour was back to its normal red and black state with the couch now in place.
"Good evening ma'am." Mr Bo greeted coming out from the dining room as soon as he caught sight of her.
"Good evening Mr Bo." She said looking worried and searching around the house as if looking for something.
"Dinner is ready ma'am."
"Where's Francis?" She said as she could no longer hide the worriness that was creeping rapidly up to her skin.
"My apologies ma'am. I haven't set eyes on him after he gave us orders to place somethings in the parlour."
Her cheek turned red in embarrassment. But she quickly shook off that feeling. That wasn't the case at hand, she thought.
"Okay." She said looking sad and worried. "Do you perhaps have any idea of where he went to?"
"No ma'am."
Her lip wobbled inwardly. "Uhmm....Do you have any idea when he'll be coming back home?" She asked hoping to get a positive answer this time around.
"No ma'am. But all my years of working here, if Mr Francis does not return back home late in the evening or in the middle of the night, then it should be till the break of dawn."
Her face saddened more. 'What have I done. Why..why can't I make someone happy for once. Why do I bring nothing but pain especially to those I love so much.' She asked herself biting her inner lip not to break down in front of Me Bo.
"Thank you Mr Bo." She managed to speak up.
He bowed slightly. "Dinner ma'am?" He asked to remind her.
She let out a faint smile. "I'll be there shortly."
"Okay ma'am." He bowed and excused himself.
She stood there for a while trying to mend her broken heart not to cry again. She felt really guilty that it was her fault he left the house very angry. She saw it in those eyes of his. He looked angry as if something had triggered his memory. But what was it? And what did she do that got him so angered? All she wanted right now was for him to come back home. She just wanted to have a glance on his face to see if he was alright and stare into his dark eyes.
"Please, please come back to me. I'm really sorry for hurting you." She said to herself as a tear rolled down from her eyes.
She stood there for a while holding on to her chest with her hand as more tears threatened to rain down. She hardened her heart a little to stop more tears falling down and wiped the tears off her face and walked in with guilt on her shoulders to the dining room.
