XLIX. Her head was sliced off.
"Gone?" The queen asked in a fierce but fearful whisper. "What do you mean gone?" She said, her voice cracking as tears brimmed at the corners of her eyes.
"I..." The maid paused and her eyes became more tearful and tears spilled out of her eyes uncontrollably. "After I put her to sleep. Someone came in and informed me that you said I should go to the royal dining area to get you your fan that you left there." She paused, swallowing hard and wiping her tears but they still came out. "I went and left the baby in care of Tærî, my sister, another maid. When I got to the dining hall I did not see any fan. As I walked out of the dining hall, I bumped into the maid again and she said I should not worry that you had seen it so I said okay and went back to the princess."
"Then what happened? How did the princess get missing if she was in care of your sister."
