UNEXPECTED MISTAKE 2

"Alright, I will stay for your sake." he said, she smiled and grabbed his hand as she lured him back to the iron bench and they both sat there. She realized she was holding his hand and quickly let go of it. In an awkward way, she wanted him to hold her hand forever, but their love was gone.

Eric's eyes flickered down to them. He snorted, looking down at Mason.

"Adjust a little bit," he declared. Mason adjusted on the bench until he was extremely close to Amber, with their shoulders rubbing against each other.

Hours passed on the bench. They were all sleeping peacefully on the bench with their heads against the wall. Amber’s body reeked of blood. She was resting her head on Mason’s shoulder as they slept there.

The huge clock in the city sounded, as the time struck twelve in the morning. Their bodies shook as they woke up one after the other. Mason’s smiled as he realized Amber was resting her head on his shoulder. He didn’t want to stand up. He wanted her to rest her head on his shoulder for a long time until she was tired of sleeping.

Eric got up from the chair, gazing at the two of them. He had a feeling she was the woman Mason liked because of the way he was looking at her with side eyes and also brushing her hair off her face in the process with his right hand. He was about to speak when he realized the emergency room was open.

He walked over to the room and stood at the entrance. He snooped into the room. Lily was sitting on the bed, with her head bandaged and her eyes slightly closed as she rested her head against the wooden bed. A nurse was checking her pores. The room was empty. There was no sign of doctors, only the nurse.

"Ahem!" he cleared his throat as he made his way into the room and shut the door, grabbing Mason’s attention. Amber also woke up with her eyes slightly open and spotted the door. Her eyes widened.

"Let’s go there," she said as she stood up with Mason.

The white lights in the hospital room were making it shine. The blue theme of the room was the perfect combination.

The nurse and Lily stared at her. Lily’s face was covered in bruises, and she was struggling to see because everything was blurry in her vision.

"Mason, is that you?" she asked, as she saw his figure in her blurry vision.

"Are you her husband?" the nurse asked.

"Yes, I am. Can I see her now?" He inquired, and Lily’s brow furrowed as she realized it wasn’t Mason, but Eric.

"Yes, you can. I will leave the both of you alone." The nurse said and carried a small bowl that was filled with warm water with a small towel on her shoulder as she exited the room.

"I know you know it’s me, I am your husband, now you don’t need Mason," Eric said and moved closer to her on the bed, he squatted next to her on the bed and held her delicate hand in his.

"I told you to let him go and to come to me, didn’t I? If you had listened to me, all of this wouldn’t have happened. I am glad you got to see your husband’s real colors today." Eric said.

"Stop! Don’t say that. I know Mason would never try to hurt me. I think his brake failed. I can feel it." she said, looking at him like she was blind. She was looking above his head. He stroked her hand firmly.

"I expected this from you. I expected you to defend him, but I have had enough!" He said, raising his voice. He was taking charge now, and it was making her shiver.

"I know I gave you a few days to think about it, but not anymore. I want you to tell me right now, do you want to be with me or not?" He asked, gazing into her eyes. She pursed her lips as her eyes slowly adjusted to the dimly lit room and her gaze landed on his handsome face. He was staring at her with pleading eyes. His eyes were extremely red, and she could tell that he had been hurt by the whole thing. Hot tears started streaming down her pale cheeks.

"E…Eric, the d-doctor, told me I lost my baby. Is that true?" She asked with her voice horsed as she held tightly to his hand.

"Yes, it’s true, you have lost your baby. I am sorry, I couldn’t protect the child, but Mason killed his child." he said. Her face contorted in anger.

"Stop blaming him, it isn’t his fault, It’s all my fault." she whimpered, turning to face the other side of the bed, still crying over her baby.

"My child is gone," she muttered. He walked over to her on the bed and sat next to her, putting his hand around her back. She rested her head on his shoulder.

"M-My child is dead. I had a lot of plans for my unborn child. I have started buying parents' manuals. I also do daily workouts for my child, but...but all that is g…" he placed his hand on her lips.

"Don’t speak, everything is going to be okay. We are going to have a child together this time. You don’t need Mason; you have to let him go." he advised.

"If you love somebody, you have to let them go. They say love is always equal to the pain." He said in a coaxing tone. She found herself lost in his world, as he was consoling her. Maybe this was the kind of man she needed in her life, the one that understood her and would always be there for her, not the one she got married to because of her parents. Their marriage was a one of convenience.

Amber and Mason opened the door of the room and poked their heads into it. They sighted both of them on the bed. They looked lovely together.

Amber grabbed the handle of the door and turned her face toward Mason.

"Let’s go, we don’t want to ruin their moment," she said to him.

"But I need to talk to her." he protested.

"You can talk to her after this." Amber said with a smile as they stared at them, Eric pulled away from the hug and cupped Lily’s face in his hand.

"So what do you say? Have you accepted me? Or do you still need to test me?" he inquired gazing into her beautiful eyes. A beautiful smile curved on her face, he hadn’t seen her smile so effortlessly before, and it made his heart flutter, he was overwhelmed with joy.

He grabbed her face and leaned closer to her, he claimed her lips in a hot kiss, which made Mason and Amber’s jaw drop, as Lily leaned in with his hand at the back of her head and their faces extremely close as they kissed passionately.

"Shh," Amber said, putting her hands on her lips and shutting the door. She stood side by side with Mason, and their gaze met. They awkwardly looked away, avoiding each other’s gaze. The scene that was happening in there made them feel like they needed to kiss. They both turned their backs on each other. Mason started whistling as they waited there. He broke the awkward silence and turned to look at her. He grasped her hand in his.

"I don’t wanna be stubborn anymore. I won’t be a hindrance to your happiness. I want the best for you, and remember, you will always be in my heart." He said from the bottom of his heart and tapped his chest.

"I will never forget you, you will always be the one I love only you and no one else," he assured, Amber’s heart melted she was lost for words, she didn’t know what to say after hearing his heartfelt speech. Her breath seized as her mind drifted to Xavier. He must be worried about her by now. She pulled her hand from his grip.

"I want you to always be happy and forget about me. You can always fall in love again. There are a lot of girls out there like me." She beamed.

"Shh, don’t say that. There is no other girl like you. You are one in a million and any man that gets married to you will be the luckiest man alive." he said with a smile, she was flattered by the words he said.

She found herself lost in his eyes. They both stood there like statues until Eric opened the door of the room and saw them.

"Ahem! What’s going on here?" He faked a cough, staring at both of them. They turned to look at him at the same time.

"Didn’t you say you wanted to talk to Lily? She is all yours." Eric said with a smile. He had a little stain of ink on his face. Mason giggled. Eric paved the way for him and he entered the room. Eric closed the door behind him.

"Uhm, you have a little something here." Amber said, pointing at the spot where the ink was on her face.

"What’s on my face?" he asked.

"It’s a lipstick mark." she replied bluntly, and chuckled, his face flushed. He quickly ran into the room and shut the door. She turned around, with her eyebrows lowered and pulled together. She heaved a sigh.

"I guess I am no longer needed here. I should go back to Xavier." She said it under her breath and started walking away. With a sad expression, this was a way of saying goodbye to Mason in the middle of the night and in a hospital.

She arrived at the garage and got into her car, driving out of the hospital. When she arrived home, she saw Xavier scolding the security guards for not knowing her whereabouts. He paused as he saw her with her body soaked with blood. He ran to her and took her hand in his, looking at her body with a worried expression.

"What happened to you? Are you alright? Did you get hurt?" He bombarded her with questions.

"Don’t worry, I am fine." she said and forced a smile.

"Thank goodness, come with me. There is something I want you to see." he said and grasped her hand, leading her into the house. He had arranged a romantic dinner for the both of them on the rooftop of the house.

"Aren’t I romantic? I deserve a kiss from you." he beamed. She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, walking over to the dinner table that was decorated magically by him.

A day had passed after attending her father’s funeral with the rest of the family. The next day was her wedding, and Amber was sitting in the middle of a party that Bella had thrown for her to celebrate her last night of being single. It was a spinster’s party in her house, and some of her employees were there.

"Come on, girl, come and dance with me." Bella said that while dancing in front of her, she was swaying her hips majestically to the upbeat music that was making everyone at the party body move, except for Amber, who was lost in thought. Amber shook her head negatively.

"I am not taking no for an answer." Bella said and grabbed her hand, pulling her to go and dance with her. Amber started dancing with her, moving her hips from side to side with her hands in the air.

"Girl, you are a natural. Look at those guys staring at you. Do you want to dance with one of them?" Bella inquired, staring at a group of guys who were checking them out and also winking at Amber.

"No, I will pass. Guys always get nasty during parties." Amber replied, dancing with her.

"Okay, if you say so!" Bella yelled.

"Guys! Let’s get this party started!!" Bella yelled at the top of her lungs as a waiter approached them. She took two glasses of champagne from the tray of the waiter and handed one to Amber.

"Here you go, girl," she said.

"Guys, cheers to the queen. It’s her last night being single!!" She yelled, and the crowd hovered around them holding their glasses.

"Cheers to Amber!" Bella said.

"Cheers to Amber!" The crowd said in unison, and they all clinked their glasses together, with smiley faces. They were all burning with excitement, with drinks and snacks going around the party and people dancing, with some getting wasted.
