Beast Core

James wanted to cook up the salamander so he decided to use the new power that he got to start a fire. He went over to the area that he was in before and just used a flick of his finger to ignite a flame to start a fire.

First James had to cut the salamander up so that he could cook it and not cook the entire thing as it is. He had to butcher it so that he could find the areas that were edible and the places that could be thrown away. As he was butchering it right below the heart he found some weird pearl, it looked a bit like a pearl that you would find in a clam but it was a nice crimson color. James decided that he would use his inspect skill so that he could tell what it was. Soon a blue screen popped up in front of him and the contents were unexpected.

[Item - Beast Core

Description - The core of the cultivation of the crimson salamander, it holds all of the spiritual qi that the crimson salamander had gathered. Contains the cultivation of a beast that was at the 3rd rank of the body refining realm.

James had never thought about whether or not a beast had a beast core, since he still had the mindset of when he was on earth he had never taken it into consideration. Now that James had it he was wondering what he would be able to use it for.

'What can i use this beast core for?' James asked Winter

[Beast cores can be used for multiple purposes, the most common use of a beast core is to increase cultivation levels. Humans use them the same way that they would use a spirit crystal, but you as a beast can just directly consume it to increase your cultivation level. Although it will still give you minimal qi because it is hard to retain the qi that is within it, so the current you can probably only gain around 100 spiritual qi wisps from consuming this beast core. The other uses of a beast core range from alchemy to weapon refinement. There are a lot of uses for a beast core that even you might not think of including using it as fuel for a flying ship instead of spirit stones. Although the spiritual qi in spirit stones are a lot more pure than the qi in a beast core, spirit stones are more rare than beast cores causing beast cores to be something that is used by most cultivators.]

James was surprised about the uses of a Beast core. James figured that at the moment he could only use it to increase his cultivation so that's what he decided that he would use it for.

The moment that James put the core in his mouth he felt it dissolve and flow down his throat. Instantly he felt an influx of spiritual qi flow from the inside of his stomach to the area right below his heart. Now that he heard about beast cores and how all of the spiritual qi he gets flows to the same area that the best core in the crimson salamander was he had figured that he had one too.

'Winter do i also have a beast core?' asked James

[Yes since the host was born into this world as a turtle and stepped onto the path of cultivation as a beast you do indeed have a beast core. Your beast core is slightly different than any other beasts core since you have used a cultivation manual but your core still functions in the same way that a beasts core would.]

James was a bit confused because of one topic, since he already had a core what would he do during the core condensation realm.

James didn't really understand the understanding behind what the system was saying but he decided not to think too much about it. James thought that it would be about time that he had finished butchering the crimson salamander.

As James was finishing butchering the crimson salamander he thought about what he should do in the future. First he planned to go to a town and learn a bit about the human culture here. If what he read in the novels was correct and there was a auction house he felt that it would be a good idea to go there since he had so many spirit crystals but before all of that he had to reach the qi condensation realm first.

Now that James had finished butchering the salamander it was time for him to cook it. James used some make shift techniques that he had learned from his father when he was young to cook the meat over the fire. James controlled the temperature of the fire perfectly so that he would get the optimal cooking conditions and started to cook all of the food that he had. All of the meat that he got was way too much for the current him so he thought that maybe he would use some of it to bait some beasts another time so he could hunt some more food.

As James was cooking the meat all of the sudden he heard some footsteps coming from behind him. At first James just thought it was another beast that had wandered in because of the food that it smelled but the closer he got the more he noticed that the footsteps were weird, there were only two feet. For the second time in James' reincarnation he started to get scared, the only thing that he could think of that had the capacity to stand on two legs were humans and chimpanzees. HE really hoped that it was a chimpanzee but it looked like luck wasn't on his side this time.

Soon James saw a human man walk in from the entrance to the area that he was in. He seemed to be a middle aged man that had long black hair with a little bit of gray coming in more towards the roots. His eyes were blue and he had a long black beard, it looked like he didn't keep himself kept but at the same time it had a graceful feeling to it. He was wearing a robe that was black with golden rims and shoes that looked like boots with golden lining. All of the sudden James saw a screen pop up in front of him.

James really did not like the fact that he had a question mark for his cultivation level. From most of the novels that he read it would always mean that his level was so high above yours that you wouldn't be able to see his level. Soon he heard a voice sound from the man in front of him, it sounded very energetic and filled with vigor.

"Hmm, a turtle." The middle aged man looked down at James and muttered to himself.

James just decided to go along and nod his head.

"Hmm did you just nod your head." The middle aged man looked genuinely confused as to why the turtle nodded his head.

James nodded his head again

"Nod your head twice if you can understand what I am saying." At this point the man looked surprised at the actions of this turtle.

James nodded his head twice.

"So you really can understand me, I thought beasts weren't supposed to develop intelligence until they increased in cultivation further. You are only at the fourth rank of the body refining realm so how could you have intelligence." The man stated.

Currently James couldn't think of any way to communicate with the man so he decided to just go along with it.

The man looked around until he turned back around to James and asked "Are you the only one here?"

James nodded his head.

"I was attracted to this place since i smelled some cooking, but are you the one that is really cooking this." asked the man

James then decided to show off a little bit, he stood up on his hind legs pointed at the fire where he was cooking the salamander, he then proceeded to point at himself and not a couple of times before putting his front legs on the area where he would have hips when he was a human in an almost triumphant pose. James' intentions behind all of these actions seemed to be to show the man that it was indeed him that cooked the salamander and he was triumphant about it.

"Hmm what an interesting turtle, so it really was you that cooked this, I guess that it would be logical since you are in the fourth realm of body refining and that crimson salamander is in the third but that still doesn't tell me how you understood how to cook something." said the man.

James then took the opportunity to stand up on his hind legs, point at the fire where he was cooking the food, then raise his hands towards the area where his face was in a weird way and chomp down a couple of times then point back at the man and then point back at the food. He seemed to be telling the man that he should have some.

"What do you want me to eat a meal with you?" At this point the man seemed to be amused.

James nodded his head showing that what the man had said was indeed his intentions.

"Well then dont mind if I do." The man then proceeded to approach the fire and sit down right next to where James is.
