"Thank goodness... If not for your support, I might have lost the position, you know," Mariel said, looking at Rose, who was walking beside her with a happy smile hidden behind her mask. The relief in Mariel's voice was palpable, and her gratitude seemed to shimmer in the air around them.
"It's nothing, Aunt. I simply did what needed to be done. You don't need to be so dramatic," Rose remarked, her tone light but firm. Mariel, however, shook her head, her expression serious as she replied,
"You didn't see him, but I was sure he was going to cause a ruckus, if not solved verbally."
"Him?" Rose's curiosity was piqued.
"Asher Eli," Mariel answered, her voice lowering as if she were speaking a forbidden name.
"Where is he?" Rose asked, a frown creasing her brow.
