Dinner together

Wu Jinyan really wished she wouldn't see him again but there he was seated in her living room with his long legs crossed casually. He seemed to know that she would eventually return home no matter where she went.

She was truly done dealing with this annoying man and she simply dragged her body to lie down on her bed without bothering about him. She knew disregarding him was the best choice for her to stay with peace.

She didn't know how long she slept but the moment she opened her eyes, the sky behind the fluttering curtains was already dark. She was too lazy to move and stayed in the bed like a log until when she reallized that the kid she brought along with her into her room was not by her side. She jumped out of the bed to search for Little Bunny and sighed in relief on seeing him watching cartoons on TV in the living room. The kid looked cute and as soft as a bun.

A second later she noticed the man she hated to see the most, rummaging through the refrigerator. She didn't know why he was still roaming in her place. He seems to not realize that the house belongs only to her.

"What are you still doing here?" she asked and closed the refrigerator not allowing him to pick the stuff he needed.

"Are you blind?" Gu Zichen asked with a fierce expression while opening the refrigerator again. Shouldn't she know that he was cooking on seeing the apron he was wearing and the spatula he was holding.

'I must be really blind to get married to a jerk like you' Wu Jinyan smiled in self mockery but didn't say it out loud. Of course, a jerk wouldn't feel good on being called a jerk. It's true that truth was bitter and it always hurts. 

"What are you smiling for?" Gu Zichen felt extremely uncomfortable on seeing her smile suddenly. He thought she must be thinking something bad about him for her to smile that bright.

"Nothing. You know how to cook?" She asked doubtfully and swiftly changed the topic on seeing the cartoon printed apron tied around his waist. His shirt sleeves were rolled upto his elbows showing his muscular arms and the top buttons were unbuttoned revealing his collar bones and a fair portion of his chest. Indeed, the cartoon printed pink apron was unsuitable for his domineering image but it didn't degrade his image instead added a hint of gentleness to his cold face. Nevertheless, she was worried if he was doing some experiments in her kitchen. She just hoped he wouldn't burn down the place or kill her with his food.

"I'm not a great chef but I can handle simple dishes" Gu Zichen sounded nonchalant but Wu Jinyan still sensed the air of pride around him. 

'Jerk' She couldn't help but curse inwardly on seeing his prideful nature. "Alright, go ahead with your cooking but don't mess up my kitchen. I'm not here to clean the mess you make" She warned in a slightly strict, cold voice before turning around.

The fact that she was seeing a man of his capabilities and position cooking in her kitchen, the picture seemed pretty unbelievable but she wouldn't give up a chance of seeing him suffer in that oily and hot place. She didn't offer him any help and instead walked away to take a nice relaxing bath.

She would've taken her own time in the bathroom but with Gu Zichen still in her house, she finished her bath within ten minutes.

Fortunately nothing happened during her absence and by the time she returned a table full of mouthwatering delicacies invited her. Taking a seat at the table, she thought with a doubtful expression on her face 'The food looks pleasing to eyes and smells fragrant. But will it taste good? He didn't add some poison in the food, right?"

Noticing her expressions, Gu Zichen assured "Don't worry, people won't die while eating the food I prepared" He simply tried to clear her doubts but his words sounded rather unpleasant to her. She took his words like he wouldn't use food to kill her but would sure kill her by using other means.

She still scooped some food for herself and tasted it. It tasted good than hers but as she ate a fair bit, a thought suddenly struck her head. 'Did he learn cooking so that he could cook for his girlfriend, Li Xiaoyi?' At that thought her heart turned heavy and she lost her appetite.

"Hmmm... yum yum" In contrast to her, the little kid who took the seat next to her ate the food with gusto. He didn't care about anything else and simply continued digging in with immense pleasure. 

Seeing him devouring the food, Wu Jinyan felt sad and disappointed. Little Bunny was a foodie and ate the food she prepared for him without complaining but the food made by Gu Zichen seems to be of next level.

The kid never ate the food she cooked with such pure enjoyment. He seems to like the food cooked by Gu Zichen and was merely being nice to her.

She felt extremely enraged and wished to kill Gu Zichen for possessing good culinary skills than her. She was no master chef but her cooking skills were not bad but why should this man of all people overshadow her?

Wu Jinyan glared at Gu Zichen who failed to notice her angered face and only concentrated on picking food for the kid while having his own meal. Both of them seemed to have cleared their previous feud when she was sleeping.

Wu Jinyan couldn't accept her defeat without giving her best. She kept plotting to fight against Gu Zichen in her mind and stopped eating the food in her bowl completely.

"Are the dishes not to your liking?" Gu Zichen asked in a worried voice when he realized she wasn't eating much. He struggled hard to make food but she wasn't eating anything and it hurt him bad.

"No. I'm just not feeling hungry" She simply smiled evading further conversation. Watching him suddenly behave gentle and caring, made her feel uncomfortable and she felt as though she was seeing a stranger.

"I'll do the dishes" Wu Jinyan offered when they finished the dinner, trying to avoid Gu Zichen.

It felt as though he was planning something against her. His humble attitude was giving her chills and she couldn't bother to let him go his way.

After doing the dishes, Wu Jinyan thought she could have some peaceful moment alone and walked out of the kitchen into the living room when from a corner of her eye she saw the man walking out of her bedroom leisurely.

It would have been normal if he was just looking around the house but he actually took a shower in her bathroom, got dressed in his pajamas and was holding a towel to dry his hair.

'Wait!! Is he planning to stay here with me?!!' Wu Jinyan almost fainted thinking about it. 

"If you want to stay under the same roof, then come and stay under my roof" A memory from a week ago flashed in her mind. Never in her dreams, did she thought he would take her words this seriously.

She immediately raked through her brain to find a good reason to make him give up living together.

"I only have one bedroom in the house and the bed is not enough for both of us. Maybe you should go back" She said the truth but what he said in return almost made her jaw to drop to the ground.
