At the end of the dinner, the Marquez couple including Daryle learned that Nero was actually a Heart Surgeon. He had been practicing this profession back in the US just after getting his licence at the age of 21. For the past four years, he tried to fulfill his oath to save lives but resigned because of his family's business which needed his attention sooner or later. He needed to learn things about dealing with people in the business world.
The past three years while he was practicing as a surgeon, he took short breaks and would visit the place of his former Filipina Nanny who raised him lovingly and taught him well during his young tender years. Sadly, his Nanny passed away in the US before he graduated his medical course.
This last visit was the longest since he has just resigned from work and he bought a condo at the Capital City to serve as his base as he travels around the Asian Region. He spent this free time being a blogger and featured the beautiful places he visited. His parents wanted him to get serious with life and get involved in their business but he thought it was too early for him to take over. He wanted to find some satisfaction and fulfillment wherever and however they might come.
"Looking back, I think my accident is really orchestrated by the heavens so I could find what I was searching for." Nero said.
"That's great! Then you can manage the Foundation after it is established. Meanwhile, get Daryle enrolled to medical course. I'm sure she can complete this within the shortest possible time. She is a genius" Mayor Marquez said proudly as if she was his daughter.
"Uncle, I will try. But in case I can't make it, I will just help Nero in the management. " She humbly said as she looked up at her stoic husband.
"Don't forget you need to bear my children too." Nero looked down and squinted his eyes at his wife.
"You are really meant for each other. We're honored and happy to be a part of your lives. Charles was just an instrument for both of you. Nero, please take good care of my frustrated daughter -in -law. I have already treated her as my own daughter ever since Charles told us about his feelings for her. And... actually, in my heart, I feel you are my son too. Especially if I look at those eyes, I see Charles' soul. His eyes tell everything about him." Mr. Marquez said slowly and emotionally.
"Thank you so much your kindness, sir! I don't have any objections if you want to call me your son. I would be honored and pleased. Sir!" Nero replied. In his heart, he can feel that the ties of this family was so close that they can't let go of their son so easily. It was different from his culture where people take life so lightly and just focus on achieving what they thought are great things great for themselves
"Hun, if I were to bear your first son, could we name him Charles? " Daryle cannot hold her excitement anymore. She just blurted out her words then blushed red aftet realizing that this thing should be just between the two of them.
"Not bad hun, I might add my name on it though." He reached out to her cheek and squeezed it as he winked his eyes.
"By the way son..Hmmmmmm!" mayor Marquez cut their PDA with his sudden words before he cleared his throat. "Since this Foundation is funded by you, would you consider it naming after your name instead?"
"Yeah, Sir, if you want your son remembered by generations to come, we might combine our name. Let's name it Charles Carlson Foundation. Does that sound like us?" Nero sneered.
"Hmmmm! Not bad. I like it son. Atleast it sounds like you have adopted my son's name instead." Mayor laughed.
"Or Nero Marquez Foundation?" Mrs. Marquez also joined as they all laughed.
"How about Carlson-Marquez Heart Foundation" Daryle also suggested.
"Hmmm...that's good. It's more formal. Sounds like a partnership between two good friends." Mayor Marquez finally stopped laughing as he nodded.
"Okay, then Carlson-Marquez Heart Foundation it is. That's final." Mrs. Marquez repeated ss she jotted down one last time. She had been jotting down everything while both men exchanged opinions. It was her role since her husband was seated as Mayor of the town.
