Mellisa walked to the bed and threw herself off it, bursting into tears. She had no idea why she had yelled at Michelle, but she knew she was tired of being used by people who didn't care about her. Even though she put on an indifferent face when Maxwell told her that, when she actually thought about it, she realized how living according to what others wanted would only ruin her life.
"I'm crying because of Zick Nadia - does he even care about me? No, he must be planning his wedding with his beautiful model. Why did he do this to me? What did I do to deserve this?" Mellisa sobbed, looking helpless and hurt.
After reading the document Maxwell decided to go and check on Melissa and make sure that had her lunch and medicine. He knew that she was going to vent her anger on the maids in his absence, that's why he wanted to be present there and watch her eat her lunch. He was about to open the door when he heard her sobbing coming from her room. Knowing that she must have locked the door, he took his phone out of his pocket and dialled the number of one of his maids, the phone only rang once before it was answered.
" Bring the spare key to the room next to mine. " He said and cut off the call.
Within a few minutes, the maid arrived rushing with the key in her hands.
" Here is the key sir. " The maid bowed her hand, handing the key to Maxwell.
Maxwell took the key and unlocked the door, entering the room. He found Mellisa crying on the bed.
" You are crying again??? Maxwell questioned walking towards the bed where Mellisa was. Melissa raised her head with tears in her eyes. " Why are you crying exactly??"
" What do you want now?? Please leave me alone. " Melissa questioned her tears pouring out of her eyes.
Maxwell felt a tightness in his throat, his heart aching in pain, but he pulled himself together. He knew that if he became emotional, then Melissa wouldn't be able to overcome her depression. "Do you think crying is going to solve any of your problems?" Maxwell questioned coldly.
"That's how I relieve my pain," Melissa stammered, more tears pouring out of her eyes. "Of course, you won't understand whatever I'm going through. You're rich and have everything in life. How can you understand my pain anyways?"
Maxwell's eyes turned cold, remembering what Tina had done to him. "Melissa, do you think you're the only one going through a heartbreak?" He questioned, his voice cold and unreadable, sending a chill down Mellisa's spine. "Do you think you're the only one who watched their partner with another person, who wasn't you? If you think like that, you're wrong, very wrong. I know what you're going through and I understand the pain very well. My wife left me for someone richer than me because my company went bankrupt, and not once did I shed a tear. Instead, I worked hard and today I'm the top richest man in this country.
Had I cried and drowned in my sorrows, I wouldn't be here today. And don't think I'm not in pain, I am in pain because I loved my wife but crying does not show your pain but makes you a Coward. Get hold of yourself and stop this nonsense. Start planning your future and stop thinking of the things that you have lost.
Keep in mind that your future is the outcome of your decision, if you drown yourself in your sorrows then you will take your last breath in tears but if you stand up and wipe your tears, you will build a beautiful future for yourself. " Maxwell yelled and stormed out of the room. He was truly angry, hurt and the memories he was trying hard to forget came into his mind, the pain he felt when he saw Tina being F***cked by another man on his own bed hurts him so much that whenever he closes his eyes the same scene play in his mind like a movie.
Mellisa was taken aback to realise that she had been crying when she had seen a solitary tear fall from Maxwell's eye. She had thought that her own pain was the only one that existed, but Maxwell's words made her realise that she was luckier than him, since she had never truly loved Zick, while Maxwell had loved his wife and had had his heart broken. With regret, she reflected on all the hurtful things she had said to him, but there was no use crying over spilled milk.
Michelle, who was listening to everything, entered the room. Maxwell did not ever sense her presence because he was far too angry to see anything.
She walked to the bed quietly and sat next to Mellisa on the bed. " Melissa, what Maxwell said is all right," Michelle started."I know that you have been hurt since you were a child and I don't want to tell a lie by saying that I know what you have been through. But God has given you a chance to write your own fate and change your destiny. "
Mellisa wiped her tears, her eyes full of determination. " From today I will try my best to think about my future and forget the past. I will spend more time on myself instead of crying, I am done crying now, though I know it's not gonna be easy I'm going to try my best."
Michelle flashed a smile like a proud mother who was watching her daughter's victory. " Melissa, I know it's not easy and no one said that life was going to be easy but you will overcome this and I will be there with you, I will stand strong by your side. "
" Thank you and I'm sorry for venting my anger on you. " Melissa said apologetically.
" Come here. " Michelle pulled Mellisa into a tight hug because Mellisa's body was still weak, she got tired easily and because of the pregnancy, she dozed off in Michelle's arm.
" Ma'am sir said I should bring lunch here. " The maid said with her head bowed.
" Take it back for now, she had fallen asleep. I will reheat the food when she wakes up. " Michelle said. And the maid left with the troll of food.
Michelle carefully laid Mellisa on the bed and sat next to her watching her sleep with a smile on her face.
