Future Brother-in-law

Gina's heart race raced when she saw Lucian. Lucian has burning eyes and the intensity in Lucian's eyes sent shiver to Gina's spine. Gina felt scared and she wanted to get away from Lucian but Lucian's hold on her was quite strong. Lucian whispered to Gina, "FOUND YOU"

Lucian gave Gina creeps. Jonah stepped forward in surprise. He looked at Lucian in displease.

"Who are you?" Jonah firmly demanded as he stared Lucian holding Gina from her arms.

Lucian released Gina to give attention to Jonah. Gina stepped back in shock and confusion.

"Lucian. Lucian King" Lucian introduced himself.

"King? Where have I heard of that name?" Jonah tried to recall from his memories.

"King Chain of Hotels, restaurants, bars and many more!" Lucian said with a smirk on his face. Jonah's eyes settled with realization that this man is one of the wealthiest businessmen and his new partner but what Jonah intended to question was his manners and he way he behaved with Gina. "Are you Mr. Laurent?" Lucian questioned pulling his right hand forward for a hand shake.

"It is I. Jonah Laurent" Jonah said firmly and he too pulled his hand for the handshake initiated by Lucian. Jonah looked at Gina who looked slightly disturbed by the new guest and then spoke, "and this is my wife, Gina Jonah Laurent" Jonah said signing towards Gina.

Lucian looked at Gina intently while the latter reluctantly meet the former's eyes only to look away.

"Oh… I see" Lucian said but Jonah saw how Lucian's eyes shifted as a sign of discomfort when Jonah introduced Gina as his wife.

"You do?" Jonah said shot his eyes in question. "Care to explain?"Jonah asked simply.

Lucian looked at Jonah and then at Gina. Gina was still trying to avoid the eye contact with Lucian. "I made a mistake. I mistook your wife with someone else from my past. I sincerely apologize" Lucian said with apologetic voice but Jonah was not convinced. There was something about this man which did not fit. It was like he more enjoying than being sorry for what he did.

"And I am sorry for crashing your party like this" Lucian said looking around.

Jonah looked around when he saw that everyone was staring them and it did not look nice. He knew things might look bad to others than they already are and it would not take much longer before people start to gossip and have spicy conversation over that incident.

"It is alright Mr. King. Actually it is a private affair and we did not know you well. I think it will be better to say that we haven't met before so that is why we did not invite you but we are happy to welcome you in our celebration and in our happiness" Jonah said.

"Never met before?" Lucian said.

"Oh, yes that is right. Isn't it? I mean I don't remember you at all as long as I can recall" Jonah said.

"Right… You and I never met before" Lucian said with a smile. His gaze shifted towards Gina and then he said, "Perhaps really we never met before" Jonah stared at Gina who looked uncomfortable for some reason. Jonah said lightly, "Perhaps"

"But I am sure we will meet soon" Lucian said to Jonah and Jonah smiled, "Very soon, I guess"

"Oh you might get surprised. But until then you enjoy your party all while you can" Lucian said. Jonah found it odd to say something like 'enjoy while you can'. It did not seem like a general and generous thing to say. What is this man saying and why? Jonah wondered.

"Pardon me" Jonah said.

"All I am saying is you and I are going to have a very busy schedule very soon and who knows how much time you are left with your wife… with your family" Lucian said to Jonah.

"I will be working not leaving for somewhere" Jonah said and Lucian smirked and said, "Oh I really hope so"

"You say such strange things usually" Jonah asked. Lucian liked how straightforward Jonah was. He liked that.

"I am a strange person to be honest Mr. Laurent even so I have very strong feeling that you will still stay with me" Lucian said.

"Stay with you?" Jonah said.

"For business of course" Lucian cleared what he meant but it still seemed bleak somehow.

"It seems like a sort of warning" Jonah chuckled for appearance but he seriously felt that Lucian was saying some odd and indirect things which does not necessarily meant innocent at all.

"It may seem anything but you and I am pretty sure that this is going to be very interesting" Lucian said and Jonah noticed the deep darkness in his eyes.

"I suppose I can totally agree on that" Jonah said confidently and warily.

"On that note, I will be taking your leave" Lucian said.

"You must eat before you leave" Jonah said.

"I need to rush somewhere but I will make sure to get my treat from you" Lucian left after taking the last glance at the surroundings and the people in it (especially Gina).

The party fell a bit quiet and the surroundings were not very party alike. Jonah instructed the party manager to increase the music volume and soon party went back as it was supposed to originally. Jonah and Gina plastered a broad smile on their faces and continue to meet friends and greet their guests. But Jonah and Gina were both looked a bit disturbed too even when they were trying to hide it from others. The moment came when Jonah and Gina were alone and away with the crowd, Jonah asked Gina what was bugging him from very long time, "do you know him?"

Gina looked at Jonah with a surprised reaction. She almost hoped that they will not have that discussion atleast not until the party was over but Jonah seemed a bit impatient and could not wait to know. Gina nodded in no. Jonah looked at Gina for a while but then exhaled looking away.

"You just looked tensed and he is weird. He says weird things" Jonah said.

"He said he mistook me for someone else. He apologized" Gina said.

"He did not look that apologetic" Jonah remarked.

"Who didn't?" Hannah said from behind. Jonah and Gina were both surprised and stunned when they heard Hannah's voice from behind. Hannah was holding a beautiful bouquet of red roses for Gina. "For you" Hannah squeal with happiness.

"Thank you darling" Gina hugged Hannah tightly. "Congratulations" Hannah said.

Jonah waited for his turn to hug Hannah. "Where were you? Why did you come so late?"

"Oh I had some errands to do while I was in town and I don't think I missed something, do I" Hannah said with a bright smile. Jonah and Gina shared a glance and Hannah noticed that something was up.

"What is it?" Hannah asked.

"No nothing. It is just you are here finally" Jonah said.

"Yeah but what about that look" Hannah asked.

"What look?" Jonah said trying to dissuade the matter.

"Don't be kidding me. I know you… both of you. Is something wrong? You have to tell me. You better tell me because if I learn it from somewhere else then I will get upset and then a lot of people will get upset so better don't wait for me to get upset. A lot of people fate is in line" Hannah asked adamantly.

"You are such a drama queen. Aren't you?" Gina scoffed.

"Don't change the topic" Hannah said demanding the information she wanted. Gina looked at Jonah and signed her to tell her. Jonah sighed.

"You know I have invested a large lump of money in my new business" Jonah said.

"Yes. Hotel something, right" Gina remembered.

"Yeah, I met… we met our business partner today" Jonah said.

"So?" Hannah asked.

"He seemed weird" Jonah said but he was not sure if he put the things in the right way he felt.

"More than you?" Hannah asked like she was worried.

Jonah looked at Hannah seriously and Gina chuckled lightly.

"That is weird" Hannah said lightly.

"If you want to make fun of me then…" Jonah said in his made-up anger voice.

"Okay okay okay. I am sorry but I don't see any problem. If you think that this man is weird and if you are not so sure then don't do any business with him. Look the money is yours. You are starting to do something entirely new and you should be comfortable with people around you. Just take a wise decision… the one which benefits all. But that is no excuse to sulk in your own anniversary party. You people look boring and like that of old couple who think of life too much and keep on sulking like a habit" Hannah said proudly smiling on the choice of her words and on her humor.

"Are you seriously saying all these mean things about us in our engagement party?" Jonah asked in annoyance.

"Bro… it is called being honest" Hannah said.

"I will not let you go away with this" Jonah said to Hannah.

"Oh really. What do you plan to do about it?" Hannah said it as a challenge.

"I plan to… actually we plan to punish you for the life" Jonah said looking at someone coming in their direction. Gina smiled at Jonah. Hannah looked at duo knowing that they were upto something. She eyed them.

"Not making any sense but okay. Bring it on" Hannah said looking in the direction Jonah was looking so happily. She saw someone in a grey suit coming in their direction but could not recognize him until he was much closer.

"You?" Hannah said looking at the new guest. Jonah took the man away with him and Hannah stared at the man with quite displease. "Who called him here and why?" Hannah demanded answer from Gina. Looking at Hannah so confused and bit angry, Gina moved back saying, "I am not responsible for what is going to happen?"

"What? What is going to happen?" Hannah asked.

"Try to relax. Just don't say or do anything rash" Gina said taking steps backwards.

"Wait. Where are you going? What is happening? I don't like it. You better tell me now… Gina… GIIINNNAAA" Hannah said to Gina when Gina tried to get away from Hannah. Hannah knew in her heart something was not right… something was definitely going to happen much to her dislike.

Jonah announced on mike to gather everybody's attention. Jonah looked around to see his friends, families and loved ones gathered for him to celebrate him and he said while addressing them,

"I can't express how glad I am and my wife is, today. I want to thank you all for joining in our happiness and for all you wishes and blessings. It has been a very long year and this celebration was something me and my family were looking forward for more than one reason. Of course it is our anniversary but that's not all. Soon I am starting my new business and I have already laid foundation or it successfully. But the very important reason for celebration is my sister" Jonah said looking at Hannah.

Hannah was startled on the mention of her name in the middle of Jonah's thanking speech. It did not feel like and she had this urge to run away but how could she. Everybody was staring her and soon she becomes centre of attraction for the room when Jonah called her name to come forward in the middle of the gathering. Hannah stood up and walked towards her brother while forcing a smile on her face. As Hannah stand close to Jonah, she whispered in his ear, "What are you doing?" Hannah asked maintaining the plastered smile on her face.

"You were the one who challenged me remember" Jonah whispered to Hannah.

"I take my words back. Now stop" Hannah said anxiously.

"It is too late darling" Jonah said apologetically.

"I brought my gun darling" Hannah warned Jonah.

"You didn't" Jonah said.

"It's in my car" Hannah said.

"So I have nothing to worry about" Jonah responded.

"Don't be so sure… wait no…." Hannah said but Jonah started speaking on mike again.

"My baby sister Hannah… she is like a child to me and I know she knows that" Jonah said looking at Hannah. Hannah looked at Jonah in awe and now felt that it was rather sweet than anything else and now Jonah faced no resistance from Hannah. "But" Jonah said.

"But what?" Hannah thought.

"But now my child is all grown up and it is time for her to go" Jonah said. Jonah walked towards the man who just came earlier.

"Wait what?" Hannah said.

"With this fine gentleman" Jonah finally said and Hannah was now completely confused and scared. She was more scared than confused.

"I am sorry" Hannah said.

"Please meet my future brother-in-law and Hannah's old friend, Thomas Branson" Jonah announced.

"You have got to be kidding me!!!" Hannah said in panic while everyone smiled, clapped and cheered.
