Gaze into the Past

Before me I watched as Ashley ran ahead of me, she wasn't dressed the same though. Her hair was the same but she had clothes on as if she was from one of the fantasy worlds I read about.

"We'll make it on time." Sevarian says while running past Ashley.

"Hey that's no fair!" She shouts while trying to catch up.

I'm not in control here.

"Up ahead! There it is!" Ashley shouts while looking at the giant monolith.

A giant monolith was ahead with all sorts of engravings on it but I didn't get what was happening here. It was nothing like my world but yet I was seeing myself with Ashley.

A hood was over my head and my hair appeared to be black but was this even the same person?

"Haha. This is awesome. I knew I saw it." Sevarian says while standing before the monolith.

"What do you think will happen?" Ashley asks with a bit of curiosity in her voice.

"Anything is possible." Sevarian responds while placing his hand onto the monolith.

I watched as the monolith began to glow but it seems they weren't the only ones here. It looks like a bunch of adventurers are here as well.

"Get the hell away from that you damn kids!" A gruffy voiced man shouts.

"Sevarian we should probably listen to them." Ashley says quietly to Sevarian.

A reflection on the monolith showed Sevarians eyes were lit up and had turned dark red. What is going on with him?

Fwip. Pierce. Arrows began to go by in an instant while one managed to go right through Ashley's chest.

The trance like state that he was in had disappeared and his eyes shifted over to Ashley immediately.

"Ashley! I'm here, don't panic. It'll be okay." Sevarian says with worry in his voice.

Everything disappeared around me and I could see through my own eyes once more but nothing felt right. Why did I see a version of me with Ashley outside some monolith?

~Unable to process recent events.

I'm not sure how that will help me make any decisions going forward, but it could be triggered right? Maybe I'll see more over the course of my travels.

"You are smart. Just don't die before all can be revealed." The woman's voice echoed.

"I don't plan on it." I say to myself.

Awake and aware. I needed to stand up and find my way out of this forest before I got sucked into something else. There's a lot for me to figure out but right now the gate boss is my number one priority.

It's been watching me since I got here, yet now it seems like the attention is shifted. I'll find you, wherever you have gone.

I began to run through the woods in search of something that stands out from everything else. It can't hide every single detail, as perfect as it could be.

{Sense}

~A strange anomaly has been detected from the east.

I turned and began running towards my right where I could hopefully find this damn anomaly. It has to be where this thing is hiding from me.

"Where could it be?" I question out loud.

That was when I saw it. The monolith from my vision was right before me, was this the exact same or was this some sort of trick? I am at a complete loss for words right now.

~The anomaly is before you Sevarian.

The other me put his hand onto the monolith so maybe this will lead me to the gate boss somehow. I gently laid my hand onto the monolith and watched as it began to glow before me.

The U.I was gone once more, my head felt like it was being bashes in repeatedly. What is going on right now?

"What's happening-

I tried to finish my sentence but something immediately held my voice back. I could see blood dripping down from my eyes as they turned red themselves.

Crackle!!! Boom!!!! A storm began to start all around me with lightning hitting near the monolith.

"My first working system."

"Those visions won't come true with the help of these."

"No they aren't strong enough. No one in this damn world is!"

I can hear my voice as if I'm talking to myself but it keeps coming and going with different things. What is going on?!?!

Thud. My body had fallen onto the ground of its own accord.

The sky was blocked by dark clouds with rain falling onto my face with each passing second. I couldn't feel anything while I laid here on the ground, was I about to die?

At least that's what I thought until I saw him coming down from the sky once more. His dark robes and covered face.

"Sevarian you made a mistake that I didn't expect to be here. I didn't plan for this to happen." The Monarch says while getting closer to the ground.

Pitter patter. Ran continued to hit me and the ground around me.

My thoughts were everywhere and nowhere at the same time. The monarch is before me, is this my opportunity to kill him?

"The Monolith corrupted me but also gave me a guide to saving everything. I had to sacrifice a lot to get here. Including countless worlds just to find people to help fight against the impending doom." The Monarch continues to speak.

Impending doom. Sacrifices. Worlds.

What's the purpose of fighting him? Is he really the bad guy?

"You are everything I need you to be but the time is dwindling down with each passing second." The Monarch speaks with a concerned tone.

Just spit it out already.

"I wanted you to stop me and use the strength of all the people I put into these gates to stop it all." He says while taking off his hood.

Standing before me was a man I only just saw. The version of me that touched the Monolith.

His dark black hair went past his shoulders and I could see scars across his face with one of his eyes closed.

"We can stop it all. I know it." The Monarch says while staring directly at me.
