A LESSON IN MAGIC

Quinn brought himself up and looked towards the face of the figure in front of him. He couldn't make out who it was, so he brought his hand up to clean away residue from his eyes and tried to get a better look.

"You look terrible. And that's from me being lenient"

The voice. He could recognize the voice. He blinked again and the figure finally came into view.

"Misaka?"

Misaka smiled and extended a hand to help him up.

"I don't know the reason for you pushing yourself this far, but it was a pretty dumb thing to do."

"Needed… teacher"

Quinn's voice was slurred, low, and strained from underuse.

"Yes, I know. I sent you here, didn't I? I just didn't think you would do something this stupid"

She took the hand he tried raising and helped him to his feet.

"How many days have you been out here?" she asked as she slung his hand across her shoulder.

"Eight…days. Lost count"
